Suhbah After Maghrib Salaat (2)
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
It has been a long time since I have had the pleasure to be with Shaykh Ashraf Qari, with whom I have met many times. He has suffered a lot, as people recently made phone calls in order for him not to invite me here and also when he invited me to the Lomita Mosque. I didn't want to touch on this subject as it doesn't mean anything, but if some people want to call, let them call as it does not concern us or you, and I only say to them, “May Allah forgive you and may Allah guide you to the right Islamic tradition and to the teachings of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).”
Alhamdulillah, I would like to thank Shaykh Ashraf for honoring me and accepting me to be here. Even if the world does not accept me, he still accepts me and that is good. Inshaa-Allah, the Prophet (s) will accept all of us. I would like to say that alhamdulillah, wherever I go in Europe, thousands and thousands of people come and in South America, Chile, Venezuela, and Argentina many people converted to Islam, especially thirteen of the miners who were caught underground converted. In the Far East, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, where I visit every four months, not thousands, but hundreds of thousands of people come! I am not saying this to be proud, but because Shaykh Ashraf mentioned it I want to clarify. Not only that, but in the Middle Eastern Gulf countries, the governments have been shuffled and now new ministers are Sufi and they are trying to bring back the traditional Islam of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) that we have lost here. You cannot believe it, but in Indonesia we have 92 centers and every center is a big mosque where dhikr is attended by tens of thousands of people every Thursday. That is how they react in Indonesia and it might be like that in Pakistan, India and the Subcontinent. When I go there they fill stadiums with half-a-million people! So why waste my time in a place where only a few people are coming? No, it is better to go and spread the Greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!
We used to speak about tasawwuf and how to purify ourselves and we spent a lot of time on that, but I found now that my da`wah is to explain more about something that people might not touch on or some might speak about it on occasion, but we speak about it every day and we have a live broadcast. We have been on the Internet since 1991, not broadcasting live, but debating many, many people and scholars. In the year 2001 or 2002, we began broadcasting live before any organization began that. I would also like to tell you that Ummah TV of Pakistan broadcasts our videos on the Ummah Channel, which appears in 150 countries.
I’m sorry to say it, but that is why being here is a waste of time; however, it is also needed because people need to know what we are teaching. I want to say that for many years I have been focusing on one issue, which is only to speak about the Greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), about his `azhaamat, grandeur, that was given to him (s) by Allah (swt)! I am positive that many Subcontinent Muslims and people in the Far East touch on this subject and give speeches, and we are trying to speak about this issue to converts, because converts easily come to Islam when you speak to them about spirituality.
Immediately, we give them the teaching about the Greatness of Sayyidina Muhammad and they take it, which we find better than arguing and debating (with other Muslims) that is going to be a losing battle. Imam Shafi`i (r) said, “If one-hundred `alims debate me I will win on them, but if an ignorant one debates me he will defeat me.” That is because he is jaahil and whatever proof you give him he will not accept. However many injections you give him in the nose it has no effect, like someone with an STD; he is poisoned, no matter how much (antidote) you give him. If you give `ulama one hadith, they will understand and keep quiet.
Just now he read something and it reminded me of what Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) said, “Ayna `Isa (a), `ayna Musa (a), ayna Yahya (a), ayna Nuh (a). Anta yaa Siddiq `aasiyy! Tub ila 'l-Mawla 'l-Jaleel!” Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) is the khalifah of the Prophet (s), whom he accompanied through his travels. When he was the Companion of the Prophet (s) in the cave, Allah (swt) revealed a message to the Prophet (s) to say to him, “Yaa Abu Bakr! Don’t be sad; Allah is with us.”
إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لاَ تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَنَا
Idh yaqoolu li-saahibihi laa tahzan inna Allaha ma`ana.
And he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us." (Tawbah, 9:40)
Why was he sad? He said, “Where is the level of Sayyidina `Isa (a) that is so high, although I am called by Allah (swt) ‘as-Siddiq,’ the Trustworthy One, who believed in the Prophet (s) with no doubt, I am a sinner! Where are you, O Sayyidina `Isa (a)? Where are you, O Sayyidina Musa (a)? Where are you, O Sayyidina Yahya (a)? Where are you, O Sayyidina Nuh (a)? You, O Siddiq, are a sinner!”
He is calling himself `aasiyy, disobedient. If Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) is saying to himself he is `aasiyy to Allah and His Prophet (s), where are we? He is not like us, where we say something with our tongue that is not in our hearts; he was completely convinced in his heart when he was saying, “I am disobedient.” If Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r) is saying about himself that he is disobedient, then what do we have to say about ourselves, that we are obedient? It is his words, not ours, expressing his nafs, his ego, “I don't want to listen to you! You destroy me, you take me into kabaa`ir, the big sins because of your bad desires!”
So when he went to the cave with the Prophet (s), why was that ayah revealed? It was revealed because the Prophet (s) was tired and Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) extended his leg and so the Prophet (s) put his head on the thigh and took a nap. Then Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) saw a hole in the corner of the cave and was worried any animal will come in through that hole and hurt the Prophet (s), so he put his leg there, and suddenly a snake began to bite his leg! At that moment, tears came from his eyes, not tears of pain but tears of love, as he thought, “When that snake finishes me it will come to the Prophet (s)!” So tears from his eyes fell on the Prophet (s), who opened his eyes and said, “O Abu Bakr! Why are you worried? Don't be sad, for Allah is with us.”
He said, “Yaa Rasoolullah! I am not sad as I believe in what you say, but I am worried that snake is reaching you.”
Then the Prophet (s) spoke to the snake, saying, “Don't you know the body of Prophets and Siddiqiyoon, Truthful Ones, are forbidden for earth and animals to eat?” Immediately the snake said in pure Arabic language, “Yaa Rasoolullah! He was blocking what Allah ordered and gave as good tidings to me; he was blocking me to see you! I was not eating his leg, but storing it safe in my body,” and he backed up and the leg of Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) came out. The snake said, “Yaa Rasoolullah! When Allah (swt) created me and I heard that Allah created Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and created creation for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), from the love that came to me, yaa Muhammad, I said, ‘Yaa Rabbee! Don't take my soul until I see Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!’ and Allah (swt) has left me ever since, until you came here and Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) blocked the hole.”
And so the Prophet (s) said to the snake, “Look at me,” and the snake looked at the Prophet (s) and then it died!
O Muslims! The love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) makes people to feel and understand that there is nothing or no desire in this life worth anything, because you are leaving and going, so what counts is how much love you gave to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s)! Allah created Sayyidina Muhammad (s) before any creation from His Light, and there are many ahadith on this subject. One big scholar in the Gulf, Shaykh Sayyidina `Isa al-Ma`ni, the Head of Awqaf of Dubai, has collected all ahadith regarding the Light of Muhammad (s). The first thing Allah (swt) created from His Light, as when Sayyidina Jaabir (r) asked the Prophet (s), “What was the first thing Allah created?” and he replied:
أول ما خلق الله تعالى نور نبيك يا جابر
Awwala maa khalaq-Allah nuru nabiyika, yaa Jaabir!
The first thing Allah created was the Light of your prophet, O Jaabir! `Abd al-Razzaq, Musannaf[1]
That scholar compiled a 200-page book on this hadith alone! And now one of our students, whom I asked two years ago to compile a book on the Light of the Prophet (s), compiled a 500-page book about the Prophet (s) being a Light and creation being created after Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in reference to more than 70 or 80 hadith on that subject! The book is coming out soon.
O Muslims! We have to understand that Allah (swt) gave Sayyidina Muhammad (s) what He did not give to anyone. Just now in the second raka`at of Salaat al-Maghrib, Shaykh Ashraf recited Surat ash-Sharh: “Alam nashrah laka sadrak” means, “We expanded for you what Allah (swt) gave you with no limits and boundaries!” Because when you say to someone, “Allah opened your chest,” it means Allah (swt) opened knowledge to you; He opened your heart and gave you knowledge. So Allah (swt) is saying to the Prophet (s), alam nashrah laka sadrak, “Yaa Muhammad! Did We not make you happy with the knowledge that We kept for you in Our Divine Presence? We are giving it to you and dressing you with this expansion of happiness in your heart to understand the realities of the Beautiful Names and Attributes of the Essence of the Creator!”
People say that Allah (swt) has Ninety-nine Names, which is correct because it is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, but how many groups of Ninety-nine Names? Is it one set or an infinite number of Ninety-nine Names? You have to understand that there is no shareek for Allah’s Essence, laa shareek lah, but Allah can express His Essence through His Beautiful Names and Attributes for people to understand. When we say “Allah!” we immediately understand “Allah” is the All-Encompassing Name for all Beautiful Names and Attributes. Allah al-`ismu ‘l-jaami` al-`asmaai wa ‘s-sifaat, all Names and Attributes come under the Name “Allah” and the Ninety-nine Names explain the meaning of the Name “Allah” while the Name “Allah” explains the meaning of the Essence.
So when Allah (swt) dressed His Prophet (s) with inshirah, expansion of the chest with happiness, and the reality and knowledge of His Names and Attributes, He said, “Why are you sad? Why do you always want more? I am giving you what you want, so what more do you want? We have expanded your chest with no limits and have given you abundance!”
إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَر
Inna a`taynaaka ‘l-kawthar
To you We granted the Fount (of Abundance) (Surat al-Kawthar, 108: 1)
“Whatever you wanted I have given to you, so what do you want?” And immediately following that verse (94:1), Allah (swt) revealed:
وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ
Wa wada`ana anka wizrak.
And relieved you of your burden. (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:2)
“We are taking away the heaviness that you are carrying on your back.” What is the Prophet (s) carrying? “Al-wizr” means “sin,” so Allah (swt) is saying, “We took away the heaviness of your sins.” Does the Prophet (s) have sins? He is ma`soom, infallible, without sin. What did Allah (swt) say to him when He saw him unhappy? He knew the Prophet (s) was unhappy because he wants his ummah to have no sins! So Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is carrying the burden of the ummah through his shafa`a, saying, “Yaa Rabbee! Send my ummah to Paradise and question me instead,” as he wants us to be sent to Paradise without being questioned. So Allah asked him, “Did We not expand for you your chest, yaa Muhammad, and made you happy by taking away your sins,” meaning, “the sins of the ummah that weres a heavy burden on your back, alladhee anqada dhahrak?”
(O Muhammad!) Have We not expanded your chest for you and relieved you of your burden that weighed down your back? Have We not raised your remembrance? (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:1-4)
“When we expanded for you your happiness and took away all the sins of the ummah, the heavy load you are carrying for them, we know how much you are humble and how much `ibaadah you do, so you are the only one who truly deserves the title, `Abd, ‘Servant.’”
Subhaan-alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan min al-masjid al-haraam ila 'l-masjidi 'l-aqsaa 'Lladhee baaraknaa hawlahu li-nooriyahu min ayaatinaa innahu huwa ‘s-samee`u 'l- baseer.
Glory be to He Who transported His Servant by night from the Inviolable House of Worship (at Mecca) to the Remote House of Worship (at Jerusalem), the environs of which We had blessed so that We might show him some of Our symbols, for verily He Alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
(Surat al-Israa’, 17:1)
You are My Servant whose name I raised! Wa rafa`na laka dhikrak, “I raised you, yaa Muhammad, to always be there in the Divine Presence. No one can say ‘Laa ilaaha illa-Llah’ without ‘Muhammadun Rasoolullah.’ I raised up your name to be next to My Name to ensure that everyone will mention you! In spite of the noises of those who deny that, not only am I making everyone to mention your name, but also to mention the greatness that I have dressed you with!”
Who can reach that? No one. We are running and running after dunya, but eventually we will leave everything and go to Akhirah. What is the benefit? If we run after dunya to help our families and children, that is necessary, but also remember that Allah (swt) has haqq, rights on you, which you have to pay. Not everything is for dunya; you have five obligations, which many Muslims today neglect: Shahadatu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa anna Muhammadan Rasoolullah, wa iqaamus-salaat wa itaauz-zakaat wa sawmu ramadaan wa hajju ‘l-bayt man istita`a ilayhi sabeelaa, Testimony of Faith, to bear witness that there is no God but Allah (swt) and Muhammad is His Messenger (s), the performance of prayer, the payment of alms, the fast in Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to the House.
Someone showed me a video on YouTube of a lady who died in Saudi Arabia, and after being washed her family was unable to carry her body from the house to the grave. No one was able to move her body as she became very heavy; you needed a crane to carry her. Her whole family came to lift her up, but there was no way!
The imaam said to the son, “This is strange. I buried many people in this area who we were able to carry to their burial. Why can I not carry her?”
The son said, “There is something my mother did when she was alive which I cannot tell you, so please don't ask me.”
The imaam said, “No, I need to know what to do.”
He said, “I cannot tell you, please leave me alone!” but after the imaam insisted, the son finally said, “Not until we bury her.”
The imaam said, “How can I bury her, when no one can move her?”
So that imaam didn’t know what to do, but the grave was dug and they wanted to take her from the house to the grave, but couldn’t. So they called Riyaad, the headquarters of a’imma, and asked the people in charge. The person who received the call said, “Read Surat Yaseen on her as much as you can until you can carry her.”
They said, “But how can we read Surat Yaseen when you taught us that it is shirk to recite Yaseen on dead people?”
He said, “Never mind, read as I am telling you!” and he began reciting Surat Yaseen, after which the ladies were finally able to carry her. They were moving her toward the grave while the imaam was repeatedly reciting Surat Yaseen. Then suddenly she fell down by the grave and again they were unable to lift her up because the imaam had stopped reciting! So they said, “Read!” and he began to read and then they carried her and put her in the grave.
Then the son asked the imaam, “Can I kiss my mother?” According to Shari`ah, the family of the deceased can do that except the husband (or wife), who are not allowed to see their deceased spouse. So he went down into the grave and opened her face, but immediately closed it and began crying as if someone had possessed him. They pulled him out of the grave and the imaam asked him, “What did you see?”
He said, “I cannot tell you!”
The imaam said, “You promised you would tell me.”
He said, “I will tell you later.”
One month later the imaam found that man in his mosque and said to him, “Don't you want to tell me now?”
He said, “My mother had one problem.”
The imaam said, “First tell me why you cried that day when you opened your mother’s grave.”
He said, “I saw that my mother’s face was completely burned; there was no face left, it was all black.”
Then the imaam said, “What did she do in her life?”
And he said, “Yaa imaam! My mother was not praying regularly in her life, only praying some, and because of that she was being punished before entering the grave.”
That is why we have five obligations to do. Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) said about himself, “I’m a sinner!” and the Prophet (s) was crying and asking, “Yaa Rabbee! My ummah, my ummah!” and in that surah, Allah (swt) took away the sins of the ummah for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad! We are saying, Rabbanaa aatinaa fi ‘d-dunya hasanatan wa fi ‘l-aakhirati hasanatan wa qinaa `adhaaba ‘n-naar, “O our Lord! Give us good tidings in dunya and good tidings in Akhirah!” What is the good tidings Allah (swt) gives that has no higher equivalent? It means, “Yaa Rabbee! Grant us to be with Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in dunya and in Akhirah!” That is the best hasanah, not the hasanah as we think, “Give us a reward,” but awliyaullah shoot for the highest as they want whatever is the highest, so don’t shoot for the low. Ask Allah (swt) and He will give!
ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
Id`oonee astajib lakum.
Supplicate to Me and I will give you! (Surat al-Mu’min, 40:60)
So ask for whatever you can and exaggerate as much as you like, as Allah (swt) is happy with that; as much as you can “exaggerate” the love of the Prophet (s), Allah will be happy. That is why just now they were reciting Salaat an-Naariyah:
Salaat an-Naariyah/ As-Salaatu 'l-Tafreejiyyah
Allahumma salli salaatan kaamilatan wa sallim salaaman taamman `alaa Sayyidina Muhammadin alladhee tanhallu bihi ’l-`uqadu wa tanfariju bihi ’l-kurabu wa tuqdaa bihi ’l-hawaa’iju wa tunaalu bihi ’r-raghaaibu wa husna ’l-khawaatim wa yustasqal ghamaamu bi wajhihi ’l-kareem wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi fee kulli lamhatin wa nafasin bi `adadi kulli ma`loomin lak.
O Allah! Bestow complete blessings and perfect peace on Sayyidina Muhammad and for his sake may all our difficulties be removed, all calamities and agonies prevented; all needs fulfilled; all our cherished desires obtained; and a felicitous end to earthly life attained (with imaan); and (give us) rain-showering clouds through the generous countenance of the Prophet, and (bestow blessings and peace as well) on his family and companions in every moment and every breath, as many times as is in Your Knowledge (that is, unlimited blessings).
How many salawaat there are like Salaat an-Naariyah that some are reciting and some are not! Sorry to say this, but the majority are not reciting these salawaats because they say they were written by people, to which I’m saying you are wrong! These salawaat were not written by human beings like you and me, and no one can write them as there are secrets in every letter and word of salaah on the Prophet (s). Yes, pious and sincere people have written these salawaats, but from whom were they dictated? They say, “There is someone who dictated these salawaat to us in dreams.” The evidence is Sayyidina Ishma`il al-Bukhari (r), the biggest muhaddith, who, when he heard about a person who knew of a hadith with a complete chain of narrations going all the way back to the Prophet (s), he went to the village of that person in order to hear and record the hadith. He never took a hadith and put it in his book without first making istikhara. He first made wudu, prayed two raka`ats, and then asked Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee! I want to see if this is correct or not, show me Your Prophet (s)!” For every dream he would see the Prophet (s) and ask him, ”Yaa Rasoolullah! Did you say this hadith or not?” and the Prophet (s) would reply, “Yes, yaa Imaam, I said that hadith.” Only when the Prophet (s) authenticized a hadith would he write it down.
That is why it is said the most accurate book is Sahih Bukhari, but we don't say as they say, “The most accurate book after Holy Qur'an.” There is no “after Qur’an,” because there is no comparison to Holy Qur’an; you cannot put any book with the Qur’an! So that is why Imam Bukhari (r) included 3,000 to 4,000 hadith in his Sahih. Abu Hurayrah (r) came with 10,000 hadith and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (r) memorized over 300,000 hadith!
I’m positive that many or some of you here have seen the Prophet (s) in a dream. I’m not going to ask for a show of hands, but for sure there are people here who have seen him. When a person sees the Prophet (s) in the dream, is it a true dream or not? No one can say it’s not a true dream, because the Prophet (s) himself said:
من رائني في المنام فقد راءني حقا
Man ra’aanee fi 'l-manaami faqad ra’aanee haqqan.
Who saw me in the dream saw me in reality. (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
When awliyaullah wrote these salawaat they said they saw the Prophet (s) in their dream, ordering them to write them. How were these salawaat brought down to us? Whether you want to recite or not, that’s something else, but no one can lie on the Prophet (s)! Not one Muslim or mu’min can dare say, “I saw the Prophet (s) in my dream,” when he didn’t. So these pious, sincere servants of Allah (swt) are very honest and trustworthy; they are from the saaliheen, to whom Allah (swt) gave piety and sincerity, and they saw the Prophet (s) dictating these salawaats.
O Muslims! Allah (swt) compensated us to say, “Yaa Allah! Yaa Rabbee! Give us happiness from dunya and from Akhirah.” Allah gave us the biggest honor by making us from the ummah of the Prophet (s). If He had made us from other nations, would we be as happy as when He made us from the Nation of the Prophet (s)? That’s why Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur’an:
قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى
Qul laa asalukum `alayhi ajra ill al-mawadata fi 'l-qurba.
Say, “O People! I am not asking anything from you, no ajar, no wealth, but only to love my Family.” (Surat ash-Shoorah, 42:23)
Everyone is reading this verse from the Holy Qur'an. Whether you are a Sunni, Shia, Wahhabi, Salafi, Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah, you cannot skip this ayah, where Allah is saying to their faces, “Yaa Muhammad! Say to them, ‘I am not asking anything from you except to respect me and my Family, this will be an honor for you. I am asking you to mawadata fi 'l-qurba, speak well about those who are related to me and not to kill them,” as they did. We don’t want to open that subject, but how they dared to kill the grandchildren (r) of the Prophet (s) and Sayyidina `Ali (r) and Sayyidina `Umar (r)? If 1300 or 1400 years ago they killed Sayyidina al-Hasan (r) and Sayyidina al-Husayn (r), cutting him into pieces, and stabbing Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r) to death, don't you think that in this time there are not people among the ummah who are even worse than Yazeed? It’s not necessary that they kill, but even to speak badly about the Prophet and his Family will hurt the Prophet (s)! When they spoke badly about Sayyidah `Ayesha (a), slandering her, was the Prophet (s) happy? For sure he was not happy and her innocence was proven from heavens by Jibreel (a). And although they hurt the Prophet (s), he forgives.
Yaa Sayyidee! Yaa Rasoolullah! Yaa Rahmatan li’l-`Alameen! Yaa Shafi`ee al-Mudhnibeen! Adriknaa, yaa Rasoolullah! Nazhratan minka, yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah! Ilaa quloobuna hatta tanjazib quloobana, hatta yadkhal al-imaan ilaa quloobinaa minka, yaa Rasoolullah! Yoo`khaz min noorika, yaa Habeebullah! Afid `alayna min hadha al-noor al-Muhammadiyya! Albisnaa min al-noor al-Muhammadiyya! Yaa Rabbee! Albisnaa min anwaari asmaa’ika wa sifaatik! Yaa Rabbee! Dress us from Your Beautiful Names and Attributes! Dress us from what you have dressed Sayyidina Muhammad (s), without looking at our sins!
If Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) said, “I am a sinner,” what do we have to say? If the Prophet (s) said, Allahumma laa takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata `aynin wa laa aqal min dhaalik, “O Allah! Don’t leave me to my ego for the blink of an eye or less (because I will fall into disaster),” what then of us? Then we are falling into disaster! How many blinks does your eye make in one minute? Generally speaking your eye makes between 22 to 25 blinks per minute, which means in every two or three seconds you are blinking. Although the Prophet (s) has no pride or ego, he said, “Yaa Rabbee! Don't leave me to my ego between one blink and the next,” which takes two seconds! He is teaching us.
Do people among the ummah accept each other? No way! Everyone is saying, nafsee, nafsee, “Myself, myself!
Yawm yafirru 'l-marru min akheehi wa ummihi wa abeehi wa saahibatihi wa baneeh. likulli imrin minhum yawmaydhin shaanun yughneeh.
On the Day when a man flees from his brother, and his mother, and his father, and his wife, and his children! Every man that Day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).
(Surat `Abasa, 80:34-37)
A day will come when everyone will run from his father, mother, brother, sisters, wife and children, saying, “Take them to Hellfire, I don’t care; all I care about is to save myself!” Can you speak there? None except one can stand and speak: Muhammadun Rasoolullah!
مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاء عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاء بَيْنَهُمْ
Muhammadun Rasoolullah. W ’alladheena ma`ahu ashidaau `ala al-kufaar ruhamaau baynahum.
Muhammad is the apostle of Allah, and those who are with him are strong against unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. (Surat al-Fath, 48:29)
Those who are with him have strong faith and are strong against unbelief and shirk. Who is with the Prophet (s)? Only the Sahaabah (r) or the whole ummah? Every one of us is with Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because he said, “W ’alladheena ma`ahu (those who are with him)” in general. Who are with the Prophet (s)? Only those in time of the Prophet (s), the 124,000 Companions (r), or everyone up to the Day of Judgment? Allah (swt) honored them to be Sahaabah (r), but also Allah (swt) honored us to be from Ummat an-Nabi (s).
That is why the Prophet (s) asked his Sahaabah (r) in an authentic hadith, “Who is the strongest in faith?” and they said, “The angels.” The Prophet (s) said, “How would angels not have strong faith when they are in Paradise seeing what they are seeing and praising Allah (swt)?” Then they said, “The Prophets.” And he said, “How are Prophets not going to have strong faith when they are receiving revelation?” So they said, “Your Companions.” And he said, “How are you not going to have strong faith when I am among you?” Then the Prophet (s) said, “The ones strongest in faith are a group of people who will come after me and you; they will believe in me without having seen me!”
You are those people! Allah (swt) dressed us with that hasanat, that favor, by making us to be with the Prophet (s). Love your Prophet (s)! Ask Allah (swt) for his sake and He will give you, don't feel afraid. Say, “Yaa Rabbee! Give us for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), the one You love and the one upon whom You ordered all Your angels to make salawaat. Yaa Rabbee! He is the one who will save the whole ummah from falling into punishment!” Ask for his (s) sake.
May Allah bless us and bless this meeting. Thank you very much for honoring us by being here tonight with all these beautiful faces like many flowers in a garden. When you have a garden with only one color flower, after one hour you get bored looking, but when you have different color flowers you want to keep looking. May Allah forgive all of us.
Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq. As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
