`Isha Suhbah

[On video, suhbah starts at 41:28.]

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

We made every living thing from water. (Surat al-Anbiyaa, 21:30)

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisaa, 4:59)

Allah said, “Obey Allah and obey Prophet and obey those in authority,” and inshaa-Allah He (swt) writes us as obedient servants without regard to what we are doing because we are weak servants, no one can claim he is anything but weak. Amrullah must be accepted. Whatever Allah orders we must accept because He owns us. For a helper in the house, when the house owner tells them to do something, they cannot say no or they will be fired. We must not say no to what Allah ordered us or we will be fired. If Allah fires someone, that is a big disaster. We say we are weak servants. Allah (swt) says:

And say [to them, O Muhammad!], “Act [in righteousness] for Allah will see your actions and so will His Messenger and the Believers.”

(Surat at-Tawbah, 9:105)

Allah said ‘say’ and ‘act’. He will look at your actions; therefore, we must act according to our capacity. Allah gave us a mind to check what is right and wrong, but still our mind doesn’t function because we don’t want it to function, we want to be like animals, only eating, drinking and not doing anything else. Awliyaullah became saints because of such meetings. Allah looks at every meeting around the world and is happy with those that are in the Name of Allah and Prophet (s), and Allah raised Prophet (s) to a level no one can reach! “We mentioned you and made everyone remember you, O Prophet.”

And We have elevated remembrance of you! (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:4)

O Believers! Pray upon him and greet him with a worthy salutation. (Surat al-'Ahzaab, 33:56)

Awliya became saints when Allah was happy with them, and for Allah to be happy with them they bring people together and make dhikrullah.

[Allah said to the Prophet], I sit with him who remembers Me. (Hadith Qudsi. Ahmad, Bayhaqi)

Allah is giving us a note to understand that He sits with those who remember Him. In such associations, we are mentioning Allah (swt), although our dhikrullah is wrapped with some of our egoistic elements and so it becomes a soup, but Allah likes it because we are sitting and remembering Him even though our body, soul or desires are doing differently.

What do we benefit from such meetings? What do Muslims benefit from meetings in the masjid? If the meeting is for Allah and Prophet (s), they benefit; if they are meeting for their desires they still benefit because Allah (swt) does not look at our dirtiness; He created us with His love and He honored us, so He looks at us with that love and honor. We must benefit from such meetings by leaving something behind us. What are we leaving behind in such a meeting, does anyone know? We are leaving angels that partnered with us in making dhikrullah and salawaat on Prophet (s), which continues until the Day of Judgement, never ending, they will stay even when you go to your houses, but they will not go, they remain here, because Allah ordered the angels to look for hilaaq adh-dhikr, circles of dhikrullah, and they will cover them with their wings and rub them, adore them, bring them inside, touch them. Sometimes you have goosebumps when you are doing dhikr by yourself or in congregation and you feel goosebumps, which means an angel touched you. You feel raashah, that beautiful shivering. So we are remembering Allah and that place becomes full of angels remembering Allah until the Day of Judgment.

Never do a group of people sit remembering Allah, except angels will encompass them and they will be covered by mercy, tranquility will descend on them and Allah will remember them among those who are with Him. (Muslim)

Allah will mention us in front of His angels, “These servants are sitting, making salawaat on Prophet (s) and making dhikr and istighfaar.” So people around the world come to sit in order to be dressed with Allah's and Prophet's (s) mercy. That’s what you are leaving behind, as in the case of Sayyida Maryam (a): whenever Sayyidina Zakariyya (a) came to visit her in her seclusion in her mihraab, he found rizq, fruit, and everything on that table that she received from angels.

Whenever Zakariyya entered her niche, he found provision with her. He said, “O Maryam, from where do you have this?” She said, “It is from Allah.” Truly Allah provides whomever He wills with no account. (Surat Ali Imraan, 3:37)

Qaala anna laka hadhihi, yaa Maryam. He asked, “How is the provision coming to you? You didn't buy that, where did you get it from?” She did not answer, but he insisted, “From where is this?” and she said, “`IndAllah (from Allah), Allah sent it to me.” Allah sends fruits and food, physically and spiritually, to His servants when they sit to remember Him. Whenever he went to visit her in her mihraab, she was praying every moment, so that place became holy and Allah will provide with no account. So he saw the noor, light of the angels coming there. She made dhikr and the angels came more and more, continuing until the Day of Judgement. They come in circles [forming a circular column of layers, one upon another] going up and up, all the way to the Heavens. This is our `aqeeda, that Allah can make everything!

So Allah turned her place into a holy place, then what about her? She must be Siddiqa, Trustworthy: Allah trusted her in remembering Him and she did that. Qul `imaloo , “Say! Act!” and she was acting according to Allah's wish. So Sayyidina Zakariyya (a) saw that and he had been asking something for many years and not getting the answer until he spoke with her and she told him “Allah is sending me rizq,” and he realized that place where she was receiving rizq was the place to make du`a. He went back in her niche, stood up and prayed, and asked Allah (swt) for what he wanted, a child. He was 99 years of age, and his wife was 90 years of age and they wanted a child. Then Allah sent Jibreel (a) to Sayyidina Zakariyya (a):

He prayed, “O my Sustainer! My bones have become feeble and my head glistens with grey hair, but never yet, O my Lord, has my prayer to You remained unanswered. Now I fear (what) my relatives (will do) after me, but my wife is barren, so give me an heir from Yourself, who will inherit from me and inherit from the posterity of Ya`qub.” (Surat Maryam, 19:4-6)

There he asked Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee! O Allah, give me a child.” Sayyidina Jibreel (a) came and gave him a piece of dry wood from the soil and said, “Allah will provide you with a child. Just as this stick is dry, Allah will rejuvenate you and your wife and give you a child.” And that stick immediately began to produce leaves and Jibreel (a) said, “As Allah brought a dead stick to life, Allah brought you and your wife into life, so inshaa-Allah tonight you will get (conceive) a child.” Then Allah gave him a child. The issue here is not only that Allah made that place holy, but also He made Sayyida Maryam (a) holy and that means Allah will make anyone holy who sits in a circle remembering Him. In that moment when you are praying, you become holy and that will be with you until the Day of Judgement. If you do dhikr once, you will be holy to that level. If you do it once a week or every day, you will accumulate more and more holiness and on the Day of Judgement you will be like a star in a dark night. Prophet (s) and all non-believers will look at the Ummah and see them shining like stars from that holiness. Whenever they say, “Allahu Akbar!” and enter prayer, Allah turns them into holy men and women.

This does not mean you worship that man or woman, worship is for Allah (swt) and they are `ibaadullah, servants of Allah. That holiness will accumulate until Judgment Day and you will come out of the graves with all that Light, just as in the Hadith of Prophet (s) in which Allah revealed that when you make wudu make sure water wets the arm beyond the elbow, because on Judgment Day wherever the water of wudu touched the body will emit Light. So ablution is noor against Iblees and his armies. When you make ablution, Iblees and his armies run away. Our shuyookh say don't get angry because you will lose the noor Allah gave you. Don't get angry and that noor will stay with you until Judgment Day. So what we left behind? We left a place holy. When you pray in your home, dedicate a place as a prayer area, then Allah will make that place holy and make you a holy person when you are in dhikrullah. It takes half an hour and you make Allah happy, you make Prophet (s) happy, you make angels happy, you make your shuyookh happy and you are happy. When you make dhikrullah for twenty minutes, half an hour or one hour you feel happy, as if a big load was lifted off your shoulders.

That is why Grandshaykh (q) said, “When you become angry go make wudu and pray two raka`ats, then your anger will go down; if not, take a shower, it should go down; and if not, go out of the house, men or women, young or old.” Grandshaykh (q) used to say al-ghadabu kufr, “Anger is unbelief,” because it makes you like Shaytan, who was cursed because he was angry and jealous when he saw that Light of Prophet (s). Shaytan made sajda everywhere to attain Maqaam al-Mahmood, the Praiseworthy Station, but what he saw was exclusively for Prophet (s), no one else! Shaytan was upset when he saw Prophet (s) was going to get Maqaam al-Mahmood. When Allah created Adam's form and placed that Light in it, that is Maqaam al-Mahmood, which Allah gave to Prophet to make shafa`ah for his Ummah. So whenever you are in prayer, ask Allah:

Allahumma rabba hadhihi ad-da`wat at-taamah was-salaatu ’l-qaaima aati Sayyidina Muhammad al-waseela wa ’l-fadeela wa ’d-darajah al-`aaliyyah ar-rafee`ah wabaʿathhu al-Maqaam al-Mahmood alladhee wa`datahu innaka la tukhlifu ‘l-mee`aad warzuqna shafa`atahu Yawm al-Qiyamah.

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer to be offered! Grant Muhammad the privilege of Intercession, eminence, and a high station and resurrect him to the praised position that You have promised, as truly You do not break Your promise.

Allah is happy, Prophet (s) is happy, angels are happy and Awliya are happy from such associations, so don't underestimate these associations wherever they are around the world making dhikrullah, because they are kaffarah to 70,000 majlis as-soow, they take the sins from 70,000 bad associations. Whoever is around them in that association, their sins will be taken away because when Allah’s mercy comes it covers everyone. Laa yashqaa jaleesahum, no one will suffer where people are making dhikrullah, all will go to Paradise, even someone who is not from them but who is in the same area! May Allah grant us the baraka of this Friday night and open for us the Sifaat al-Jalaal wal-Jamaal, two Names of Allah that if He dresses on a wali you can see him changing: one moment he is in Tajalli al-Jamaal, Divine Beauty, one moment in Tajalli al-Jalaal, Divine Majesty, which is strong majestic power! May Allah dress us from the secrets of these two Names in this night, in order that we can oppose our Shaytan and defeat him as much as we can. Now while we spoke no one had gossips, they are gone, but as soon as we go to pray they will come, because salaatu`imaadu ‘d-deen, prayer is the main pole of religion that you can lean on.

Between disbelief and faith is abandoning the prayer. (Muslim, Tirmidhi)

When you leave prayer you are an unbeliever, when you pray you are a Believer. May Allah keep us always praying! Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
