Awliya are Humble

Ramadan Series 2017, Vol 19

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

18 June 2017 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

Zhuhr Suhbah

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,

nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta'ala al-`Azheem fee hadha 'l-masjid.

Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Subhaan-Allah that Awliyaullah nawwar Allahu ta`ala adrihatahum daa’iman. Subhaan-Allah that Awliya are humble, if they were not humble no one could sit with them, but their doors are open and there is forgiveness for everyone. Grandshaykh (q) used to say their door is open from mashriq to maghrib, it has no beginning nor end. For Allah `azza wa jall to His servants from East to West it is bigger than East to West; when you enter you cannot come out. Another cycle will happen you enter, every time you enter you enter in a different way than before. Like children have these games and you go through different levels: first, second, third and so on, the levels of opening to the hearts of the mureeds never end. As soon as they sit to recite, Allah will take that recitation to the Divine Presence through the angels.

Awliyaullah are subtle people among mu’mins but very strong on any kind of kufr. Allah (swt) said, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah,” He ordered The Pen to write. Allah (swt) said, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah,” he wrote for 70,000 years and then he stopped. Then Allah ordered The Pen to write “Muhammadun Rasoolullah”, Allah wants to show the great status of Prophet (s) when He says:

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكََ

And We have elevated remembrance of you! (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:4)

Be happy because his Intercession is for everyone! Be happy that he takes you to Allah's Way! Being sad will take you nowhere. Happiness must always cover the mu’min as that shows Allah’s satisfaction with him. That is what He wants. Allah said, “Qul Allah,” it is an order.

Say "Allah," then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling. (Surat al-An`am, 6:91)

Those who want to say “Allah” go with you and those who don't, leave them as you cannot guide whom you like, Allah will guide whom He likes. What is better than Allah guiding you and sending to you? You have already been guided to come all this way and from the time of the Message of Prophet (s) that has not stopped or changed, it remains in perfect position. Allah (swt) perfected it and gave it to humanity, so keep Allah in your heart and He will keep you in His Divine Presence, in His Association. To enter the door that Allah gave, you have to go from level 1 to level 2 to level 3 ... it never ends, don't think it ends. And every level higher you go it becomes more difficult. How much was Prophet (s) abused? He said, “I was abused more than any prophet before me.” Sayyidina Nuh (a), Sayyidina Ibrahim (a), Sayyidina Musa (a), they were all abused, but they were not abused as much as Prophet (s). So we are Ummat an-Nabi (s) and must expect to be abused, but laa ilaaha illa-Llah is the sword that saves us from that abuse. Dhikrullah is important.

Dakheelak yaa Rasoolullah, save me I beg you, yaa Rasoolullah! To save you and to save everyone when you show someone in power love and respect, he saves you from all kind of problems. What about Rasoolullah (s)? Will he not save you when he hears you call on him? Then what do you think when you call, “Allah!” When Awliya say ‘Allah’ and He opens what He is going to give them, they are afraid they will lose that, because Adam (a) lost what Allah gave him. He is the father of everyone and a nabi and still he lost and Allah sent him to dunya; for one sin all his descendants ended up here! So what about us sinning so much, are we lost or not? Yes, but what will save us? Dhikrullah and salawaat `ala an-Nabi (s). When a servant says, “Yaa Allah!” won’t Allah come?

Awliya want to educate us, and people are running from curriculums that are meant to show you took 1,2, 3, 4, 5 courses, for what? Say “Allah,” that is our curriculum, dhikrullah.

To make their followers happy, the headline of each subhah is:

أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Grandshaykh (q) opened every suhbah with “Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum,” because when you say that are enter obedience to Allah, to obey His Orders. As soon as you mention “Atee`oo” it is as if you have made itaa`ah, even if you only recite it once. Recite “atee`oollaha, obey Allah!” and that Tajalli immediately comes, like a flower. Sometimes on TV they show time elapsed videos of how a flower blooms, from a seed to a mature plant. When you say “atee`oollaha” angels are ordered to take it quickly to the Divine Presence and it will encompass all things Allah ordered us to do because the Holy Qur’an is natiqee, alive. So when you say that verse, all the dresses of mercy and maghfirah that Allah dresses on His Prophet (s) and Awliya are dressed on you. That is why He says, “Say ‘Allah!’”

In that verse are 500 ma’mooraat, obligations, that Prophet (s) mentioned in Hadith. When we do anything good, it is considered as one good deed, but for Allah it is as if you did 500 ma’mooraat. So when you say “Allah” Awliya say from lafzhu ‘l-Jalal a nice smell comes from your mouth, and angels come quickly to take it to Paradise as their job is to take our `amal to the Divine Presence. The servant enters ita`at, obedience, that one time they say it once, then twice… why not include it in your daily awraad? What will Allah do when you mention His Name? As Awliya mention in their kushufaat, these awraad they bring are opened to them like al-Busayri’s Al-Burdah opened to him. So follow any of them as Prophet (s) said:

أصحابي كالنجوم بأيهم اقتديتم اهتديتم

My Companions are like stars (on a dark night); whichever of them you follow, you will be guided.

(`Abd ibn Humayd, ad-Daraqutnee, ibn `Adiyy, ibn `Abd al-Barr, with unsound chains but the meaning is sound.) HH q/h

Awliya are not hiding; rather, our `amal veils us from them! If you do good `amal you will see them, if you do bad `amal you won't see them. So if we read ‘Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola,’ at that moment Allah will dress you with whatever Allah dressed on Prophet (s) and order His angels, “That one is mentioning ‘obey the Prophet’,” as Allah said in the Holy Qur’an:

وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانتَهُ

Leave what Prophet forbade and take what he ordered. (Surat al-Hashr, 59:7)

The best is to take wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola and it will be as if you have done it. Kalaamu ‘Llah are alive. Now they say ‘live broadcast’, but every moment of your life is alive in Allah's Presence. If you are good Allah looks at you and if you are bad Allah turns His Face away from you. We say “Allah” in order for Allah to look at us. What is going to happen to you in dunya will end, so don't build fantasies on it. To say “Allah” is so easy! We are weak servants, we have no power, yaa Allah, the Power and Love is Yours! Thabbit aqdaamanaa wa-’nsurnaa `ala ‘l-qawmi ‘l-kafireen, this is what Allah likes from His servants. So when you say “Allah,” He prepared a banquet for you, like the banquet of Sayyidina `Isa (a):

ʿIsa the son of Maryam said, ‘O Our Lord descend upon us a table from heaven that will be a feast for us, for the first and for the last among us, as a sign from You. Provide for us, and You are the Best of Providers.’ Allah said, ‘Indeed I will descend it upon you, but whoever among you disbelieves after this I will punish in a way I have punished no one in the worlds.’ (Surat al-Maa’idah, 5:114-115)

Where is that table and what is on it, fish or lamb? Sayyidina `Isa (a) asked Allah to send them a table from Heavens to be `Eid for them. What is the best `Eid? O Allah! Send us food from Heavens to Earth to be a holiday for us! To know Him, will Allah send fish, pasta or eggs or something that you never imagine of His Treasures?

Who knows his self knows his Lord.

He will send you a table, maa`idah, that allows you to know yourself: ma`rifatullah! Therefore, He said whoever does kufr after receiving Realities from Allah and His Prophet (s) will be considered a kafir, because Allah gave you a right to see the maa`idah from Heaven. That is what Allah will dress you in the Hereafter to be stars in dark nights. May Allah accept from us. It is not in ours or anyone's hands, it is in the Hands of Allah and His Prophet(s), and Awliyas’ job is to petition. They don’t petition with something we like, they petition with something we dislike. We say, “Yaa Rabb, we are weak, we cannot carry!”

Verily, after every hardship comes ease! (Surat al-Inshirah, 94:6)

Day and night, Prophet (s) is carrying that wizr, sins. Who knows his limits stand by them, and Awliya know their limits. We cannot jump ahead and say, “I want to see!” Allah knows best when to open for us. Let us try to reach that limit through dhikrullah. When you say “Allah” that is not your breath: at that moment, Allah assigned an angel to take that breath from you to the Divine Presence, where every moment has a new dress and an angel comes to purify you and put you in Gardens of Heavens, where Awliya see your Reality. Here in dunya is only an image, a reflection of the Reality that finishes when you go to the grave. That is not the real image. We need the soul that comes with every breath in and out, an angel created to make dhikrullah for us until Judgment Day. As soon as you say “Allah” an new angel is created to make dhikr on your behalf until Judgment Day, and if you say it again, another angel is created.

So what happened to Grandshaykh (q) after his kashf revealed that in his seclusion? It is not like searching Google, kashf appears to you immediately: all the dhikr you have done is placed securely in Heaven waiting for you, and don't think that is too big. La taqdeer li-`amrillah. Allah wishes good for you when you mention His Name! What are angels doing? Allah knows best. May Allah write all of us from good ones. This (livestream) is by a dunya camera that was invented to remind us we are being viewed. Therefore, when we do wrong, we must make istighfaar quickly, as Allah (swt) said:

فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ

Run to Allah (from all that is false and evil)! (Surat adh-Dhaariyaat, 51:50)

Fa-firroo ila ‘Llah, run to Allah (swt)! He did not say run to anything else. Run to Allah with what an airplane, a camel? No, with dhikrullah. With dhikrullah peacefulness comes to your heart. You are exhausted, sitting in a corner, so cover yourself with sheet, sharshaf, as if you are in seclusion and do dhikrullah to take you out of your problems. Tell people you know and let them tell people so this message will go viral: dhikrullah will take you where you want to be! You are not going to take a camel or go to a cave to flee to Allah: you do it through your sincerity and piety. If you fall into a situation that you cannot get out of, the only thing to pull you out is dhikrullah, so Mawlana's order is to cover yourself as if you are in cave and say, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah.”

I will tell you something that happened to me when I was young, around 22 years old when I heard that from Grandshaykh (q). So went to a secluded area of our house and covered myself and recited “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah” and then “Allah, Allah.” At that moment I felt as if Prophet (s) took over my entire body; hat beauty and love he (s) shows when we say follow that order, Qul Allah, say “Allah!” [Mawlana weeps.]

Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Shafi`ee al-Mudhnibeen! When I remember this I am in that state. It is mentioned that when you remember Allah, push yourself to make your eyes weep. May Allah always make us cry tears of happiness. So I felt that presence of Prophet (s) entering and taking over and I was not able to control myself. That is enough from that incident, I cannot say more. When you cover yourself it is as if you are leaving everything in dunya. We imitate it, but angels make it to be haqqeeqi. We intend to meditate, for Allah to take that heavy load when we face obstacles, for us to stand firm and face it, and that obstacle will be removed through dhikrullah. Do it any time day or night and Allah and Prophet (s) will be happy with you, and Allah will take that problem from you and give you guidance.

So dhikrullah is something that is very high, it has its own limits. If you follow the principles, Allah (swt) will show you something you never expected. It is enough what I felt when Prophet (s) took over my body and soul. You will recognize what Allah will offer you on the Day of Judgment, and may Allah grant all of us to enter Paradise.

Grandshaykh (q) said “Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum” is the head of every advice or every `amal that, like a shower, takes all sins away and will dress you as if you have completed all 500 obligations and left all 800 manhiyyaat, prohibitions.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

May Allah may dress everyone seeing this video and open to them and be happy with them in dunya and Akhirah, and show the Reality of Prophet (s) to all of us, for the sake of Ramadan and the Qur’an. We are going on the Way. Yesterday one of the foremost representatives in Lebanon, a very good brother, did khatm, they completed it, he distributed the stones on everyone to the side, and when he finished he went home and died of a heart attack took his soul in a nice way. Let us cry for ourselves, that Allah will change our crying for dunya to crying for Akhirah and may Allah give every mureed of Mawlana Shaykh (q) happiness and long life with their families and children and their wives, sisters and brothers, and give them the breeze of Heaven to breathe in dunya.

What we need is fa-firroo ila ‘Llah, yaa Rabbee, to come when You call us; of course we are coming, no one can say no. This person finished his dhikr and was in complete good health, no high blood pressure, went home after khatm, dhikr and suhbah, and he passed away on the road. His place is less than five minutes from the hospital. What he took from dunya was nothing but his good `amal.

In this Tariqat, there are men and women who did great things for Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s), who promoted this Way, and the Ways to Allah (swt) are on the number of breaths of human beings, everyone has a way. May Allah make ours a good way and give to those who worked very hard, might be our last Ramadan with us. Fidaak anfusana yaa Sayyidee, awlaadina, kullu maa lana, yaa Sayyidee.
