A`oodhu billahi ‘s Sami` al-`Aleem min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem.

Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

O Believers! O mu'mins! Days are passing by. Inshaa-Allah, we are going to enter Dhu ‘l-Qa`dah next week and then it’s Hajj time. May Allah (swt) accept our brothers and sisters that are going to holy lands. Allah (swt) has blessed that area with the birth of Rasoolullah (s) and with the building and situating of Ka`abah al-Mu`azzamah in that Holy Land. May Allah (swt) allow us to be there again and again.

Allah (swt) has released Shaytan upon you, O human being! Qaala fadh-hab, go.

(Allah) said: "Go your way; if any of them follow you, verily Hell will be the recompense of you (all); an ample recompense. (Surah al-Isra, 17:63)

He has given Shaytan a freehand on people. Shaytan is the devil. Some people might not know what Shaytan is. Shaytan comes from “shatana,” “far away.” That means he is far away from Allah (swt)’s Mercy. He has been kicked away. With His Wisdom, Allah (swt) has released the devil on humans. Why is Shaytan allowed to come to every human being, mu'min and kafir, believer and unbeliever, the one who has believed in the Unity and Oneness of Allah (swt) and the one that has not? Why? What’s the point? The point is that Shaytan is like a miner. Have you heard of mining? They go inside the mine. What do they do? They extract what’s in it.

Shaytan is a miner. He goes inside of you and extracts what’s inside of you, O human being. What comes out? Your words come out, your actions come out, your states come out and you become known to your fellow humans. That is the role of Shaytan. Shaytan goes inside of you and he makes the one who has no iman do all sorts of things that are not even accepted by common sense, let alone Divine Ways. Common sense doesn’t accept that kind of behavior or those kinds of words.

That is why Shaytan was released upon you, O human being. Watch what kinds of words come out of you and then you will understand. Are you saying awful things? Understand that Shaytan is inside of you, mining, getting all the ‘precious’ stones, the ‘precious’ words and what is ‘precious’ out of your heart and implementing it onto the people of this world.

Look at what people are doing. If people are doing things that are awful, know that Shaytan is inside of them, mining them out. You think that people are good, saying, “Oh, I am good.” What are you doing--killing, hurting, burning, cursing, plotting, planning, betraying, double crossing? The world is full of that. Know that Shaytan has controlled him and is inside of him. He has a lease to mine. That one has given him a lease.

The good ones understand that they have not given Shaytan permission to enter into their hearts. Their hearts are full with iman, faith, in the Lord of Heavens. They have faith that the Lord of Heavens is Ever-Watching. What is one of the Names of Allah (swt), O insaan? Why did Allah (swt) give you His 99 Names? So you can understand what He is about, what He can do or what He does.

And Allah watches over all things. (Surah al-Ahzab, 33:52)

Wa kaana ’Llahu `alaa kulli shay’in raqeeba. A mu’min knows that Allah (swt) is Ever-Watchful. He is watching you. If you say, “He is not watching me,” then you are one of these sleepy ones. When you are asleep, you don’t know. If a rock falls on you, you don’t know. If somebody pinches you, you don’t know. If a bug bites you, you don’t know. You’re asleep.

But a mu’min knows that Allah (swt) is watching. When Allah (swt) is watching, He is telling him, “O My servant! I am watching over you, protecting you, if you ask for protection from Shaytan. I’m watching what you do. Make sure that it is done correctly.” When a mu’min takes Allah (swt) as his Friend, as his Waliy, support, Protector, Allah (swt) will protect him from his enemies. The greatest one is the devil. Don’t think the devil is asleep. He doesn’t sleep. When you sleep, he is on top of your head. He wants you to always do the awful things that he tells you to do.

A mu'min knows that Allah (swt) is Raqeeb, Watchful. What does the mu'min do? He avoids bad things that Shaytan is calling to and he does good things that Allah (swt) has ordered. That’s why Allah (swt) says:

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًا سَدِيدًا

O you who believe! Fear Allah, and (always) say a word directed to the Right. (Surah al-Ahzab, 33:70)

Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo ‘t-taqullah wa qooloo qawlan sadeeda. The sign of a mu'min, the hallmark of a mu'min, believer, and good one--shaky ones are all over. Shaky ones are also very easy to catch by Shaytan. The strong one is the one that Shaytan has no power over.

"For over My servants no authority shall you have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." (Surah Al-Hijr, 15:42)

Inna `ibaadee laysa laka `alayhim sultan. Illa mani’t-tab`aka min’l-ghaaween. “You have no power over My servants, you have no authority over them.” A strong mu'min is the one that says, “Qawlan sadeeda,'' truthful words. “O My servants! Ittaqullah. Avoid the pitfalls that Shaytan is calling you into and say truthful words, say good words.”

The hallmark of a believer is the one that says good words, not the one that pretends to be a believer. “Yeah, I am with all the good Christians in this country. I am with all the good Muslims in this country. I am with all the good Jews in this country. I am with all the good religious people in this country.” You can say anything you want but the hallmark of a believer is the one who says the truth, not changing your words every other day. That is not a believer. That is a pretender. Don’t fall into these ones.

The good mu'min is the one who says qawlan sadeeda, good words, truthful words, rightful words.

O yeou who believe! Fear Allah, and let every soul look to what (provision) He has sent forth for the morrow. Yea, fear Allah. for Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that you do. (Surah Al-Hashr, 59:18)

Yaa ayyuha ’Lladheena aamanoo ittaqoo’Llah. The sign of iman is avoidance of bad words and bad actions. When you say good words, Allah (swt) will protect you first from yourself. When you say bad words, you will fall into trouble. These bad words will come to haunt you. Awliyaullah have said, a mu'min has to secure his tongue. Don’t say words that you will regret later on. Some people text message, WhatsApp, email, speak in public, text at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. in the morning and then what happens? We got you. Don’t be like that.

Always say good words, O insaan, O human being. That is the sign that Allah (swt) has not set free Shaytan upon you. If you say bad words and regret it later on, that is not a good way. A good way is like we said. Be a good mu'min. Be a good believer. Qoolu qawlan sadeeda.

When you say something good, what does Allah (swt) do for you? It continues. I believe it’s in the last verses of Surah al-Adhab.

Al-Ahzab (The Confederates) 33:71

That He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: He that obeys Allah and His Messenger, has already attained the highest achievement. (Surah al-Ahzab, 33:71)

Yuslih lakum `amaalakum. When you say good words, Allah (swt) will make you do good actions. He will help you. He will correct your actions so they are good. Good to whom? Not only to yourself, to your cronies or to your friends, but good to humanity, good to all people that live in your country, good to all the people that live all over the world. Allah (swt) will help you. If you correct your tongue and you only utter nice words, kind words, tender words, helpful words and you intend not to harm anyone, Allah (swt) will correct your actions.

Wa yaghfir lakum dhunoobakum, and He will forgive what happened in the past. So many of us have made mistakes. I have faults, you have faults, people have faults. It is advice. When you start doing good actions with good words, Allah (swt) will forgive what happened in the past. Don’t take it personally. It’s just advice. Allah (swt) will forgive you for what you have done.

Wa man yutee`illaha wa rasoolah. The one who obeys Allah (swt) and the messengers, faqad faaza fawzan `azheema, they have won in this world and they have won in the Hereafter. They will be saved from all calamities in this world and they will be saved from all calamities in the Hereafter. What does it start with? Qooloo qawlan sadeeda, say good words, truthful words. Be truthful, be righteous, be trustworthy, O insaan, and Allah (swt) will correct your actions.

SubhaanAllah, the other day a man in El Salvador, the new president--I think he was re-elected. It came on my feed. I go on YouTube to see what’s happening around the world and I saw that. What was he doing? He summoned all of this cabinet members and he brought the attorney general and said, “I don’t steal.” He is a young one. He is probably not corrupted yet. When you get older, you get into that swamp. He’s still a good one. He said, “Investigate all of these people around me.” It’s unbelievable. I don’t know if it’s happening or not but he suggested that, “I don’t steal. I don’t allow anybody in my cabinet to be a thief.”

It’s in the news. What is he following? He is saying he is following the good words. What are the best good words? The orders of the Lord of Heavens. He is a Christian, I believe. He is following, “you shall not steal.” Isn’t that one of the Ten Commandments? “We don’t know.” You are a priest. You are a rabbi. You are a guru. You are a shaykh. You are a scholar. What does it say? Allah (swt) says, “Don’t steal.”

He said, “I don’t steal. God is watching me.” He is not a Muslim, he’s a Christian but he’s still following a heavenly message. “God is watching me and I am watching you. I am afraid of my Lord. He said don’t steal so I’m not stealing but I am also watching over you. You should not steal either.”

That is a good ruler. I don’t know what else he does. I don’t support or not support him. I’m neutral. I am not propagating his policies. I don’t know any of that but I’m pointing to this one action of his. He told his attorney general, “Investigate all the people here.” Some of them were like this, some of them were like that. They were all afraid because they were not following the good words, the best words.

Allah, There is no god but He; of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah's? (Surah An-Nisa, 4:87)

Wa man asdaqu min Allahi hadeetha. Who speaks truer than the Lord of Heavens, Allah (swt)? His words are good words. If you follow what he says, you will be saved. Do people like him or not? It is said he was re-elected with 85% of the vote, not 1% or 2% difference, landslide. That’s what you need. You don’t need somebody who is winning by 1% or 2%. It means that people might not want either of you. Why did he have 85%? Because he followed one of the commandments of the Lord of Heavens. “you shall not steal.” He implemented that. How about another one? Why don’t we start with, “you shall not kill”?

May Allah (swt) forgive. May Allah (swt) guide humanity to say good words. Good words will lead to good actions. Good action will lead to good inner states. Yuslih lakum `amaalakum wa yagfir lakum dhunoobakum. When He corrects your deeds by saying true words. The highest and grandest true word is, “Laa ilaaha illa-Llah,” a believer in the Lord of Heavens. That is the highest good word. If you follow that Kalimah Tayyiba, your `amal will be corrected by Allah (swt). You will be on your best deed, best action. When you are on the best action, Allah (swt) will forgive your sins. He will forgive your hasad, hiqad, bughud, the hatred, the dislike, the enmity, the jealousy and the envy. Allah (swt) will forgive your sins and take them all away. You will be a pure human being, only wanting good for your community.

Why don’t you follow the good word? No, they follow what they like. If you follow what you like, you get misery and suffering all over the world. There is not even one country safe from misery and suffering in one form or another, because they have not followed the heavenly messages. That’s what we are about. All of us should always tell people to follow the heavenly message: ta`muroona bil-ma`roof. What is that? “Enjoin the good.” What is “enjoin the good”? Not, “Don’t make dhikr. Don’t make Mawlid. Don’t put a turban on your head.” Leave this.

Tell people to follow what Allah (swt) has ordered in the Holy Qur’an. Tell the Jews or the Christians to follow the Ten Commandments. I don’t know what they follow. From their actions, you don’t know what people follow anymore.

That’s what you need to do: follow the model of that president. I commend him. He is telling his people something good. He made all the crooks anxious and nervous by following, “You shall not steal.” When they hear words of truth, every wicked human being with the Shaytan inside of his heart, mining out all the painful and awful characteristics that a human being has, starts shivering when Allah (swt) sends His Orders. That’s why when Rasoolullah (s) was delivering his sermons or Anbiyaullah or Awliyaullah, they all have haybat, strength and majesty.

O Messenger. proclaim the (message) which has been sent to you from your Lord. If you did not, you would not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. And Allah will defend you from men (who mean mischief). For Allah guides not those who reject Faith. (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:67)

W ’Allahu ya`simuka min an-naas. You say what you want. Nobody can touch you. You are one person, but nobody can touch that one person. Allah (swt) is his support.

For they said: "What! a man! A solitary one from among ourselves! Shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad. (Surah al-Qamar, 54:24)

Fa qaaloo a-bshara minna wahidan natabi`ahu inna idhan lafee daalali wa su`ur. “We are following a human being like us?” That is Qawmu ‘t-Thamud. He is one. There’s nobody behind him, no army behind him. What happened?

For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. (Surah al-Qamar, 54:31)

Fa kaanoo ka-hasheemi ‘l-muh’tazhir. They became like the hay that the farmer or the barn owner puts on the ground for his sheep. That’s how they become. Allah (swt) supports one human being delivering a heavenly message. Don’t underestimate the power of heavenly messengers.

May Allah (swt) allow us to follow Rasoolullah (s) correctly and the others to follow whoever they have believed in. They have to believe in Rasoolullah (s). That’s how they complete their iman, otherwise they are defective. They are following here and there but when they follow Muhammad (s), he has brought what Sayyidina Musa (a) has brought. He has brought what Sayyidina `Isa (a) has brought. He has brought what Sayyidina Ibrahim (a) has brought. He has brought what Sayyidina Noah (a), Jacob (a) and Joseph (a) and all of them brought.

He said that every messenger has built a part of a house. The messengerhood is like building a building or a house, what’s missing is one brick. That means all of them have built that baytullah for insaan. They have built the heart of a human being to take in the Noor of Allah (swt) in that heart. What was left? One brick. Rasoolullah (s) said, “I was the one to complete that house. I’m not different from them. They are not different from me.” But people don’t understand because they are following Shaytan.

May Allah (swt) make us away from him.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, wa bi sirri Surat al-Fatihah.
