Allah (swt) Favored Humanity With Three Lights

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

13 October 2016 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillaahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,

nawaytu 'r-riyaada, nawaytu 's-salook, lillahi ta`ala al-`Azheem fee hadha 'l-masjid.

[Khatm.]

Kalimataan khafeefataan `alaa ’l-lisaan thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezaan habeebataan li ’r-rahmaan: SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem, astaghfirullah.

There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah

Alhamdulillah, Allah’s (swt) mercy is on Ummat an-Nabi (s) because He loves His Prophet (s); that’s why He created him from His Light and created the whole Creation from the first Light of the Prophet (s) and therefore, Sayyidina Adam (a) is carrying the Light of Allah, the Light of the Prophet (s) and the Light of Sayyidina Adam (a). Human beings are like that. Our shuyookh, especially Sultan al-Awliya Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani and Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil (q) say, Allah akramahum, “Allah honored human beings to carry three Lights,” from Allah (swt) as Creator, from the Prophet (s), and from Sayyidina Adam (a) as the Father of Human Beings. These three Lights are protected from every sin, ma`siyya, and Shaytan cannot penetrate there. Also, these Realities are embedded in every human being, which is the meaning of fitra:

يولد الانسان على الفطرة ، فأبواه يهودانه أو ينصرانه أو يمجسانه

Man is born upon fitra (innocence), but his parents make him a Jew, a Christian or a Magian.

(Bukhari, Muslim)

It means no shaytan, enemy or ma`siyya can enter these three Realities as they are protected by Allah’s (swt) Qudrah, power, and inshaa-Allah on the Day of Judgment we will appear in front of Allah (swt) pure and clean with them, not because of us, but because Allah (swt) is protecting these three Lights, which are the Reality of Creation, a secret we don’t know, only Prophet (s) knows. Allah gave to Prophet (s) what He wants him to know when He told him, Iqra! “Read! Read the secrets of these three Lights of Creation,” whichis why the Prophet (s) said to Jibreel (a):

ما انا بقارئ

I cannot read. (Bukhari)

The literal meaning is, “I am not one who can read or write,” but wa ma anaa bi qaari, in reality it means, “What do you want me to read, what secrets do you want me to expose from these three Lights? Do you want me to tell my Sahaabah, the Ummah, Creation? What do you want me to say, yaa Rabbee? do I have permission to mention them?” And Allah said, “Yes, iqraa bismi rabbik alladhee khalaq!”

Read in the Name of your Lord Who created! (Surat al-`Alaq, 96:1)

Every letter of the Qur’an has 12,000 up to 24,000 of what Awliyaullah describe as ‘oceans of meanings,’ from which many scholars and Awliyaullah received heavenly knowledge. Today millions cannot understand as the calibre of `ulama and Awliyaullah who wrote about these secrets no longer exist.

Glad tidings to us, O humankind! Indeed we have a pillar of support that cannot be destroyed. (Burdah of Imam Busayri)

Grandshaykh (q) used to read this, it means, “O human beings! Good tidings to us by the inaaya is the mercy of Allah, who is Muhammad (s), on whom we can lean. Good favors and good honor that Allah granted us mercy and you cannot lean on anyone but the Prophet (s).” That is why he (s) is carrying the whole load of the Ummah on his shoulders, bringing and cleaning them so that on Judgment Day Allah will forgive them.

The reality of our understanding al-Insaanu ’l-Kaamil, the Perfect Man, is impossible: only the perfect can understand the perfect, and Allah is the Absolute Perfection in His creativity and the Prophet (s) is the Perfect One in his servanthood to Allah. No one can understand the Essence, the Reality of Dhaat al-Buht, Allah’s Essence. Awliyaullah tried to enter that ocean but they cannot; they may only enter by permission of the Prophet (s), who has Realities no one can understand except him, and Awliyaullah understand their Realities from what they inherit from that.

So it is a hierarchy. How do they say there is no hierarchy? There is hierarchy on everything; if there were no hierarchy we would have all made Mi`raaj! The only one who made Mi`raaj is the Prophet (s) and if we are holding on to him then we make Mi`raaj with him! There is hierarchy. Why do we ask for `ijazah? The shaykh gives you a written `ijazah from his shaykh, from his Shaykh, going all the way back until you reach one of the As-haab an-Nabi or al-A’immah al-`Arba`ah or the Twelve Imams, the grandchildren of the Prophet (s) or `Ulama. In reality they are like beads on a string (tasbeeh): your beads are near each other but if you cut the thread, it falls apart. So don't cut your string to your shaykh, because he connects you all the way to the Prophet (s), he connects you directly from his shaykh to that one's shaykh, all the way back to the Prophet (s).

And what is understood by us that we must do? Allah gave us something very easy on the tongue but very heavy on the Scale: Kalimataan khafeefataan `alaa ’l-lisaan thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezaan habeebataan li ’r-rahmaan: SubhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.

Someone just mentioned in his du`a making ziyara to the Prophet (s). That moment when he mentioned it, a meaning came from Mawlana Shaykh, may Allah bless his soul, the meaning of ziyaarah is “to travel,” even from one house to another; in order to visit and get the baraka and respect you need you visit, then you will be honored. Yesterday we were guests, today we are guests, every day we are guests. In our prayers we are guests to the Prophet (s) and to Allah, when we say “Allahu Akbar” we are already in ziyara. Through the faraa’id we are doing ziyara, bayna yaday ar-Rahman, “between the Hands of Allah (swt).” Of course we are not seeing, we are veiled, but we are there and when we make Sunnah prayers we are in ziyara to the Prophet (s).

Say (O Muhammad), "If you (really) love Allah, then follow me! Allah will love you and forgive your sins, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Surat Aali-'Imraan, 3:31)

When you love someone, you want to visit. If you really want to visit, follow the Prophet (s) because he is the guide for you. Allah tells us, “I gave him the Message, he will guide you.” Like in an army, the top one gives orders to the generals and they follow with their armies. Prophet (s) guides those who are in (high spiritual) positions, and they deliver the Message to the Ummah. “Follow me, then Allah will love you.” If you follow the Prophet (s), it means for anything you want that is accepted by Allah (swt) you must make ziyaarah to the Prophet (s).

First, you cannot come by yourself, you must come with the Prophet (s), you must take him with you. How? Allah and the Prophet (s) are not waiting for you to do it, they know we are not going to do it. We say, “Allahumma arzuqna az-ziyaarah, to visit,” but we are not doing it, they do it for us. How?

If they had only, when they were unjust (oppressor) to themselves, come to you and asked Allah's forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah indeed Oft-Returning, Most Merciful. (Surat an-Nisaa, 4:64)

Zhulm is of two types: to oppress others and to oppress yourself. If you oppress yourself by ma`siyyah, committing a sin, you are oppressing your soul and oppressing the three Realities Allah gave you, the Lights we mentioned. Although no one can darken or harm these Lights, they are protected by Allah.

We have honored the Children of Adam. (Surat al-Israa’, 17:70)

“We have honored human beings with these three Lights.” Therefore, no one can take that, but you oppress them when you tried to knock on the door of these three Lights when you sinned. However, Allah (swt) will not allow it. When Iblees whispered in Sayyidina Adams ears, Allah forgave him and made Iblees look bad, saying, “You are after him? Yet I forgive him!” If Allah wants to forgive the whole Ummah, what can Iblees do on the Day of Judgement? He can’t do anything!

Idh zhalamoo anfusahum, “When they sin against themselves they come to you, yaa Muhammad,” means they make ziyara. That is the meaning of hijra.

Truly actions are only by their intentions and to every person is his intention. So whoever made hijra for Allah and His Prophet, then his hijra is for Allah and His Prophet, and whoever made hijra for the sake of dunya or marriage, then his hijra is for that which he migrated for. (Bukhari, Muslim)

The meaning of hijra is according to your intention. If your intention is to Allah (swt) and His Prophet (s) then that is real hijra. So when you leave zhulm, when you stop oppressing yourself and oppressing people and you begin to go on the road to Allah and His Prophet (s), then you are going in the direction of true hijra. As soon as you do ma`siyya, we as Muslims immediately know what is ma`siyya and what is hasanah:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire!" (Surat al-Baqara, 2:201)

When you do hasanah you are happy, when you do ma`siyyah you are not happy! Immediately you know that. When you do something wrong, you know it is wrong: your spirit, your soul, your body, your heart, your mind will say “astaghfirullah,” but that is not enough. “When they were oppressors to themselves, they come to you, yaa Muhammad.” When you come to someone’s door and knock, what happens? He will open the door, he is present. So as soon as a human being says “astaghfirullah,” Rawhanniyyat an-Nabi appears, it is present there! That is the meaning of, “They come to you, yaa Muhammad, asking forgiveness.” So when we come asking forgiveness we will hear the answer, is it not? Prophet (s) will make istighfaar on our behalf and if we have no veils we will see the Rawhanniyyah of Prophet (s). According to your capacity you might see light appear, or smell something sweet, or feel goosebumps, or you might feel something strange that makes you cry or feel happy: that is the presence of Rawhanniyyat an-Nabi (s).

Anyone who really wants to come to Allah (swt) has to come through the guidance of Prophet (s), and Allah is explaining to us that to come to the presence of Prophet (s) is to do hijra from ma`siyya and go to rewards. So the way to make ziyara of the Prophet (s) and for Allah (swt) to be happy with you is to say “astaghfirullah,” then for sure the nazhar (gaze) of the Prophet (s) is there, because he is haadir and naazhir, present and observing. You might see it or not, but he is present and seeing and will take you to the Way of Allah (swt)!

So that hijra is why Awliyaullah move from the place they are born to a different place where they were not born, to be buried in a different place. That is Sunnat al-Anbiyaa, the Anbiya are buried in different places. The Prophet (s) left Mecca, the House of Allah (swt) where he was born, and went to Madinat al-Munawwarah, and the Sunnat an-Nabi is to be buried in a different place than you were born. That is why you see most Awliyaullah are buried in a different place than they were born. Sayyidina Muhiyyidin ibn `Arabi (q) (q) was born in Morocco and buried in Damascus. They don’t want to be buried in the same place, they want the real meaning of hijra. that is their hijra: “I left dunya behind to be buried in soil different from that city.”

May Allah forgive us and guide us to understand the reality of the teachings of the Prophet (s) and the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and Islam. In this era, many events are happening that are showing us something big is going to come. Those who cannot see this might be blind. There are too many killings. Just today 140 men, women and children were killed in Aleppo by bombardment! The Prophet (s) said in the Last Days, al-harju wa ’l-marj, “There will be too many killings.” We don't need more evidence, although the Prophet (s) mentioned hundreds of evidences of what is going to happen, and one of the biggest is “too many killings on Earth.”

May Allah protect us, our children and our Ummah from the hands of Shaytan, and keep us on his way following his footsteps.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
