What is the programme? You have to choose, bayaan (speech) or dhikr?
أَنَا جَلِيْسُ مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي
I sit with him who remembers Me. (Hadith Qudsi. Ahmad, Bayhaqi)
Long dhikr...nasheed, dhikr, bayaan, all of them. [A flower wreath is offered to Mawlana.] I have already...In Pakistan the flowers are plastic and in India the flowers are mixed, plastic and real flowers. I went to India and as soon as I entered they put on me maybe 15 roses, my neck became like the neck of a donkey, so heavy I couldn’t move my head right or left! I said “What is this in India, torturing us with flowers!” [Laughter.] In India the flower garlands are better; these are imitation.
So our host wants dhikr and short suhbah and qaseeda and explanation, tafseer, and du`a and salaat wa ‘s-salaam. Why don't we do salaat wa ‘s-salaam and finish? [Food!] Food is not of too much importance except for Shaykh Abdul-Haqq! They want dhikr or short dhikr or long dhikr? [Mukhtasar bayaan, short talk.] What about bayaan on dhikr? He said mukhtasar food (little bit of food)? [Laughter.]
Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammadan wa `alaa ali Sayyidina Muhammad, nawaytu ‘l-arba`een, nawaytu ’l-`itikaaf, nawaytu ’l-khalwah, nawaytu ’l-`uzlah, nawaytu ’r-riyaada, nawaytu ’s-salook, lillahi ta`ala fee hadha ’l-masjid
Mashaa-Allah, I am happy to see young people more than old ones. The young ones carry the message; if you raise them on love of Prophet (s) and love of Allah (swt) Allah will be happy with you and with them. Shaawiruhunna wa khaalifuhunnaa. Consult with them and make the opposite.
Mukhtasar...[Dhikr] Al Madad! As-salaam 'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. (Du`a.)
O Muslims! In every place and every time, we seek from Allah to be always with an-Nabi al-`Adnan (s), who is the Purifier of Sins and with whose shafa`ah we enter Paradises!
Ahlu ‘s-Sunnah wa ‘l-Jama`ah
O Muslims! It is not easy to sit and speak. There are speakers who can speak for hours and hours, but Ahl al-Turuq, the people of Tariqah, the people of Tasawwuf, cannot express what they have to say when there is a lot of bad energy, when there is lot of negative energy or Satanic power, because Ahl at-Tasawwuf are like vehicles and they carry the Ummah to the Prophet (s). They are like oceans: when you dive in it you come out clean. Their presence is like oceans. You enter you can see `ajaaib, extraordinary knowledge, stunning, shocking knowledge! `Ulama with all respect to all `ulama they are doing good job, but not like the job of Ahl at-Tasawwuf, who carry the loads of their followers from wherever they are listening and present them clean to the Prophet (s)! Don't underestimate awliyas’ powers as Allah gave them what He did not give others for the benefit of Ummat an-Nabi (s). If Awliyaullah are not benefitting Ummat an-Nabi (s), Allah will never give them that power that they ask forgiveness day and night on behalf of their followers and Ummat an-Nabi (s)!. Just we were mentioning one Hadith before we came here:
حياتي خير لكم تحدثون ويحدث لكم ، فإذا أنا مت كانت وفاتي خيرا لكم
My life is great good for you as you will relate from me and it will be related to you.
(al-Bazzaar in his Musnad)
Prophet (s) said, “My life is great good for you as you speak to me and I speak to you.” What did you understand from that Hadith? “My life is good for you (Sahaabah), I teach you, I speak to you and you speak to me.” Let us meditate a little bit on the beginning of that Hadith, “hayaatee khayran lakum,” Why ‘hayatee’, is he dead? Ana hayyun tarriyun fee qabree, Prophet (s) said:
أنا حيٌّ في قبري
I am alive, fresh in my grave.
Connect both: he is alive in his grave, which means he speaks to everyone. That Hadith is not just for the Sahaabah (r), but for the whole Ummah from beginning to end! He can speak, he can see, he can hear; istaghfirullah, the Prophet (s) is not less than Sayyidina `Umar (r), who was able to see and hear from far away when he was in Madinah speaking to his general, Sariya, who was in Damascus, “Ya Sariya, al-jabal (in Damascus)!” Sariya (r) was hearing him, and Sayyidina `Umar (r) was hearing and seeing him.
What about the Prophet (s)? If Sayyidina `Umar (s) has this power, what about Prophet (s)? Today there is a technology that they can hear you from within your house. If that technology is made by man, the Prophet (s) has no Heavenly Technology that he can see and hear us from the place he is? They take wires and a satellite they can see you and hear you. The Prophet (s) cannot?
The Principles of Presence and Vision
That’s why the principle of Haadir and Naazhir, Presence and Vision (seeing) is very important to Ahlu 's-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama'ah and why Prophet (s) said, hayaatee khayran lakum, “My life is a great good for you. Why? Because I teach you and you ask me and you listen to me.” If we build the foundation that Prophet (s) is Hayy, through `Alim al-Barzakh and he can see and he can talk, as he is telling his Sahaabah (r), “My life is good for you because I teach you what you need to know,” does that Hadith apply only for a limited time or is it ongoing for the whole Ummah? Is Holy Qur'an for all the Ummah or only for the time of the Prophet (s)? Is Hadith an-Nabi (s) only for the limited time when Prophet (s) was living with his Sahaabah (r) or for the whole Ummah? For the whole Ummah!
That’s why there are people who can speak with the Prophet (s). As the Sahaabah (r) were speaking with him and he was teaching them, Prophet (s) is teaching awliyaullah wherever they are and he inspires their hearts. That is the importance of this Hadith. Therefore, anyone who has been dipped or who dived in that Hadith, Allah (swt) will open for him from hidden knowledge that his Prophet (s), Sayyidina Muhammad (s) will dress that person with hayaat, life. That is why He said in Holy Qur'an:
بَلْ أَحْيَاء عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ
Rather, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:169)
That is not only for those who are living, that ayah is also mentioning ash-shuhaadah who are being provided for in the Divine Presence. Any wali is also shaheed. Why? Shahaadah is not only to fight but it is in anything you struggle to teach, then that is shahaadah fee sabeelillah.
Afdal al-jihad qaal an-nabi (s), the Prophet (s) is telling us jihad is not by the sword, but the ‘best jihad’ is:
أفضل الجهاد كلمة عدل عند سلطان جائر
Afdal al-jihad kalimatu `adlin `inda sultaanin jaa'ir (in another version, aw kalimat al-haqq).
The best jihad is a word of justice (or a word of truth) before a tyrannical king.
(Related by Abi Sa`eed al-Khudree)
The best jihad, number one, is to say a word of Truth, kalimatu `adlin, and don't be afraid, kalimat al-haqq, the right choice is to be truthful, Afdal al-Jihad. Where do you have to say it? `Inda sultaanin jaa'ir, “In the presence of a tyrant.” That means you don't get afraid from a tyrant. And who is the biggest tyrant, that you have to hit every moment on the head of that tyrant? The nafs, the ego, because it takes you astray. If there were no nafs you would be an angel. Angels don't have nafs, they don't have ego, that is why they are infallible, they don't do sins. When you reach that level, Allah gives you the power to say Kalimat al-Haqq to your ego, to say, “You are wrong!” not just to fight for no reason.
So the Prophet (s) taught us, Afdal al-jihad kalimatu `adlin, The best of jihad is to say the truth, not only in his time but up to Judgment Day. So in that Hadith that we were reading today, hayaatee khayran lakum, “My life is the best for you, because I talk to you and you talk to me,” it means he is giving you an opportunity to talk to him! When you say, “Allahumma salli `ala Rasoolillah, Allahumma salli `alayka, `alayka yaa Rasoolullah,” instead of saying it in the past tense, we say it in the present tense, we imagine we are in his (s) presence, like in at-Tahiyyat, when we say, “As-salaam `alayka ayyuha ‘n-nabi,” you are calling on him and sending salaam to him directly, then what is he going to say, is he going to keep quiet and say nothing? He will say, “Wa `alaykum salaam.”
The stones, rocks, made tasbeeh in the hands of the Prophet (s) and the Sahaabah (r) heard them, and Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r), Sayyidina `Umar (r), Sayyidina Uthman (r), heard it, Sayyidina `Ali (r) was not present, but three of the Khalifs heard them and the Sahaabah (r) heard, and Prophet (s) gave seven of the stones to Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) and they made tasbeeh, and when put in the hand of Sayyidina `Umar (r) they heard the tasbeeh and in the hand of Sayyidina `Uthman (r) they heard them making tasbeeh, and when put in the hands of another Sahaabi (r) they were not able to hear any tasbeeh.
وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلاَّ يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدَهِ
And there is not a thing but celebrates His praise! (Surat al-'Israa, 17:44)
Allah (swt) said in Holy Qur’an, “There is not one thing that is not making his glorification with his praise,” and that means everything has hayaat. Rocks are making tasbeeh ila yawm al-qiyamah, you pass by a mountain all these rocks on that mountain are making tasbeeh until Allah orders Israfeel (r) to blow on the Trumpet and everything shatters and this Earth disappears, shattered completely, there will be no Earth, because Allah (swt) is not going to judge His servants on a dirty Earth because on this Earth there has been bloodshed, it’s dirty. Allah created a clean Earth and resurrects people from a clean Earth, because Allah (swt) will descend, according to Hadith, His Kursee, al-`Arsh, descends for judgement on the Day of Judgement and Allah will not descend on dirty things. And He calls on the Prophet (s) as the first one, then He sends Jibreel (a) to bring the Prophet (s) to His Divine Presence and Sayyidina Muhammad (s) rubs the sand from his (s) forehead and says, “Yaa Jibreel (a)! Has anyone else of my Ummah been judged?” He wants to show that he is so concerned for his Ummah.
“Yaa Rasoolullah you are the first one.”
What will he do? He comes and asks Allah’s forgiveness, Intercession for his Ummah, and Allah grants him Intercession. That’s why he said, Hayaatee khayrun lakum, “My life is good for you, because I teach you these ahaadeeth, I tell you what is going to happen in your life and in your childrens’ lives until the Day of Judgement!”
قال رسول الله ص حياتي خير لكم تحدثون ويحدث لكم ومماتي خير لكم تعرض علي أعمال لكم فإن وجدت خيراً حمدت الله وما وجدت غير ذلك استغفرت لكم.
My life is a great good for you: you relate from and narrations are related to you and my death contains good for you as well, for I observe the `amal of my ummah. If I find good I thank Allah, and if I see other than that, bad, I ask forgiveness for you. (Bazzaar)
And what he (s) said on the other side of the Hadith? Wa mamaatee khayran lakum, “My death is also a great good for you. When I was veiled,” I don't like to say he ‘died’, I like to say he ‘veiled’ himself by Allah's order, because he said:
أنا حيٌّ في قبري
I am alive, fresh in my grave.
ما من أحد يسلم عليَّ إلا رد الله عليَّ روحي حتى أسلم عليه
No one prays on me except that Allah will send back my soul to me to return his greeting.
(Ahmad’s Musnad, Bayhaqi’s as-Sunan al-Kabeer, Abu Dawud’s Sunan.)
“Whenever someone makes salawaat on me, Allah sends my soul back to respond to that person!” So if millions of people in different parts of the world are making salawaat, where is the soul of the Prophet (s)? It’s with him, in East and West!
وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ
And We raised up your remembrance. (Surat al-Sharh, 94:2)
“We have made everyone to praise you and mention you, to remember you and call on you.” Not just “We made your name high,” no: “We made everyone to praise you and to call on you, wa rafa`na laka dhikrak, to mention you?” We cannot say wa rafa`na laka dhikrak means “We made your name high,” no! It means, “We made everyone in need for your Intercession, to be able to get into Paradise!” We must understand. Like you go to the Prime Minister, he supports you to go to the President and there you will be honored, Allah is honoring us by mentioning our name in the presence of the Prophet (s), honoring us because of Prophet’s honor with which Allah (swt) granted him! And on other side of the Hadith he said, wa mamaatee khayran lakum, “And my death is a great good for you.” Why? “Because there I am observing everything you do and what you are thinking, what is in your unconscious, in your inner brain.”
[Mawlana questions a psychiatrist in the group.] What do we have in our brain the conscious and unconscious? [Yes.] So what is in the unconscious? [A lot of things.] A lot of things! Every thought is there, either it hides itself there or goes directly to the conscious mind. When it is in the conscious, you sense it, that you know about it and other thoughts you don't know, they are hidden in the unconscious in the brain. So the Prophet (s) observes your conscious and your unconscious, because in your unconscious you might have lot of sins, wrong thoughts, and they hide in your unconscious, is it not? [Yes.] So the Prophet (s) has the power to see that also, for everyone! Not like you, you see patients every day, how many patients in 8-9 hours? [15.] You see 15 patients. The Prophet (s) will see the whole Ummah from beginning to end in a moment, without one overlapping the other. He (the psychiatrist) cannot see them all at the same time; first one comes, second one comes, third one comes. But the Prophet (s) sees them all at the same time, with their dunya names and their Heavenly names. There are seven names for every person, one for dunya and six for Akhirah. And he sees them with their names, which means he will see them with their 'blueprints', their unique DNA, and everything that can relate to Prophet (s) about that person, he sees everyone individually at the same time. Wa rafa`na laka dhikrak “We raised you, O Muhammad!” Allah (swt) raised him where even Jibreel (a) could not reach.
What was he doing there? What Allah opened to him not a nabi can know, not a wali can know, not an angel can know except Prophet (s) knows about what Allah gave to him. He is not going to give him knowledge about you, or someone else, or a gift of chocolates, it’s not like us what Allah gives! When Allah gives He gives from His infinite unlimited generosity from His new knowledge that He is creating in every moment, in every moment new knowledge is being created, a new earth is being created, a new universe is being created., a new galaxy is being created and the Prophet (s) is the prophet of all these galaxies, all these creations that are living on these galaxies. Don’t underestimate Prophet’s (s) power. There are universes and galaxies they were saying 6,000, nnow they are saying they cannot even count the number of galaxies they are finding! And all of that is within the limit of dunya. That is not even in Heavens, these are in dunya.
And who passed through dunya to Akhirah? Sayyidina Muhammad (s) in the Mi`raaj, with Buraaq and Sayyidina Jibreel (a). Passing all these universes, all these galaxies, reaching Heavens. So Heaven is not in dunya. So he reached First Heaven, did they put flowers for him? What kind of flowers they gave him? Heavenly flowers. Not dunya flowers.
Grandshaykh (q) may Allah bless his soul, said if one small part of what Allah has created in Heavens from Hour al-`Ayn and from Wildaanun Mukhaladoon, the young boys that are very beautiful and the Hoor al-`Ayn if one of their small finger appeared this whole dunya will faint from their beauty, the beautiful smell and appearance.
Why did the Prophet (s) stopped in First Heaven? Why the Prophet (s) stopped in Second Heaven. They say there are seven Heaven and it is correct. But why the Prophet (s) has to stop in First Heaven, Second Heaven, Third Heaven, Fourth Heaven, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and then going to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? Could he not go directly to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa? Why did he stop? When a president is coming to visit a country they take him in a long procession and he stops at different stations to see people, shake hands with people and they give him flowers; that is respect, tashreefaat for that president.
So why did the Prophet (s) stop in each Heaven? To be dressed from that Heaven with whatever Allah has created of His Light in that Heaven, to be dressed on the Prophet (s). That is why he stopped in First Heaven. It was preparing him to reach to Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa. Because to go there...Buraaq cannot go there directly and Jibreel (a) cannot go there and the Prophet (s) has to follow. Second Heaven, being dressed from Allah’s Beautiful Names and Attributes, third Heaven until Seventh Heaven and Jibreel (a) said to the Prophet (s) “That is my limit. Yaa Muhammad, go by yourself.” Why by himself?
I am going to say something big here. Jibreel (a) was able to go, but Allah wants them to know, Allah wants everyone to know: angels, human beings, all creation that He created that Muhammad (s) laa shareeka lahu in his servanthood, no partner to Prophet (s) completely! Everyone must know that cannot reach to be more, we ask to be, yaa Sayyidee yaa Rasoolullah to be under your N`alayn ash-Shareefayn, under your two shoes, to be dust there! For any wali, any nabi to know the level of Prophet (s), that no one can be partner to him Allah gave that only to Muhammad (s), laa shareeka lahu fee `ubooddiyyatihi. There is no partnership to Prophet in anything.
That’s why I used to hear Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, when he made du`a he said: Allahumma ashrikna fee `ibadati ’n-Nabi (s), “O Allah share with us from the Prophet’s (s) `ibaadah; from his fasting, from his hajj, from his salaat, from everything he did, so that we can he can accept us, to dress us a little bit from what Allah has dressed him. So that position that Prophet (s) went allah wants the whole ummah to know, the whole nation to know that, “I honored My Servatmn, the only servant that knows Tawheed,” not all these people that talk about, “Tawheed, Tawheed, Tawheed,” and say “This is shirk this is bid`ah!” all of their Tawheed is not perfect also. Tell them not to believe in their statement always wherever they go they say, “Tawheed!” Al-muwwahid al-waheed huwa an-nabi (s). The only one that can say he is a real muwahhid is the Prophet (s).
If he was not a real muwwahid he could not reach Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa, and Allah gave him that honor because he is the only muwwahhid, there is no other prophet, there no wali with that status; Allah did not give that to anyone except Prophet (s)! Allah told Prophet (s) to dress His Awliya, Awliya al-Ummah, from what Allah gave to him. Grandshaykh (q) said, “The whole combined knowledge of Prophets, Awliya, `Ulama and all human beings, from all Creation including jinn and angels, is not a drop of the ocean of knowledge that Allah gave to the Prophet (s)!”
No one! That is why Allah ordered angels to make salawaat on the Prophet (s). Why? Is Prophet in need of of angels’ salawaat? He is honoring them, because by their salawaat on the Prophet (s) they get honor! So don't you think by your salawaat on the Prophet (s) you get honor? That is why we must all make daily salawaat on the Prophet (s) as much as we can, then Allah will raise us.
O Muslims! And this is just a little from the one drop of knowledge, and the whole ocean is in the hands of the Prophet (s), who is giving only one drop of that to all Sahaabah (r) and all Awliya and angels, but that one drop can drown everyone as it’s an ocean for everyone. From `Azhamtullah, Allah’s Greatness, He wants to show His Habeeb’s greatness! It is something revealed to the hearts of Awliyaullah, as Allah sends inspiration to their hearts that He doesn’t send to ours because they are:
أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Behold! Verily on the Friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah Yunus, 10:62)
Allah’s Greatness is Indescribable
Those awliya, Allah gives to them. So one of these awliya, a big wali, said that one day Sayyidina Adam (a) said to Jibreel (a), “Yaa Jibreel (a), since when has Allah created Creation?" It is a normal question. Sayyidina Adam (a) is living where? In Heaven, and Jibreel (a) is living in Heaven. So Sayyidina Adam (a) asked Jibreel (a), “When did Allah create Creation?” because he knew that Allah creates Creation [continuously], and he asked, “How big is that Creation?”
Jibreel (a) said, “Leave that, ‘when did Allah create Creation’? I will show you how big it is!”
Jibreel (a) was moving in space and taking Sayyidina Adam (a) with him until he reached a place where there were all white crystals, even the sand is white crystals. Jibreel (a) was also stunned by the vastness and greatness of that place completely filled with white crystals, and he saw one green bird, one tree in the middle of that place and the bird was on top and went from the tree down, takes one crystal, went up, swallowed it and then went down again and took another crystal.
Jibreel (a) said, “Yaa Rabbee, I am tired even with all my wings,” because it is well-established among scholars that Jibreel (a) has 600 heavenly wings. When he came down from Heaven to the Prophet (s) he used only two wings and the others are for Heavens. He said, “Yaa Rabbee! How big is it? I cannot see the beginning and I cannot see the end!”
And Allah said to him, “Yaa Jibreel, there is not a corner of that place you have seen, it is very small,” but for Jibreel (a) it was so big! And he said, “What about this bird, yaa Rabbee?”
Allah (swt) said, “Yaa Jibreel, every crystal is a universe and I create from that crystal a galaxy, and that bird is My Beloved, Prophet Muhammad (s)!”
Always the Prophet (s) appears to awliyaullah as a green bird, because no one can carry the manifestation of the Prophet (s) with all his Lights, so he appears first like a green bird.
“With every crystal I put in his mouth I create a universe and he is the Prophet for that universe!” So Allah’s `Azhamatullah, the Greatness of Allah cannot be described! When He gives, He gives according to His Greatness, according to His Generosity, and what He gives Sayyidina Muhammad (s) He did not give any other, and from it Prophet (s) dressed the Ummah, and all of that is for the honor of Ahl al-Islam. May Allah (swt) keep us always with Prophet (s) dunya and Akhirah and grant that we do salawaat on Prophet (s)!
The Reward of Poor Indonesians Who Make a Daily Majlis Salaat `ala an-Nabi (s)
Make Majlis Salaat `ala an-Nabi (s), an association of people sitting and making salawaat on the Prophet (s). Now with dunya responsibilities it is very difficult to get people to come. Because big countries. In our countries, small. In Indonesia, every day before Maghrib by one hour you have 200, 300 people sitting in the masjid reciting Dalaa’il al-Khayraat. One time I went to Indonesia in an area called Pekalongen and I met the person responsible for teaching Holy Qur'an there and always they are Ahla 's-Sunnah wa 'l-Jama`ah, like your madrassa in Pakistan or India, a very simple school teaching people. Around 25,000 people came to sit and we gave a lecture and they said to me, “Do you like to go to Majlis Salaat `alaa an-Nabi (s)?” I said, “Yes.” So they took us about fifteen minutes driving and you look, and you don’t see except an ocean of white hats, white dress, like ocean waves when they move their heads! And what they are reciting? Dalaa'il al-Khayrat all of them in one voice! How many of them? At least 200,000. The whole city was closed and with a big masjid they gather and recite Dalaa'il al-Khayrat, which is all salawaat on Prophet (s).
I asked since when are they doing that. They are all reciting in one voice because they have been gathering together over time. They told me they have been doing this for 250 years without stopping, every day before Maghrib by one hour they come from everywhere they sit to recite Sal `ala Nabi, and these are poor people. Today, look to see where we stand and where they stand; can we do like them? We cannot gather even twenty people and they gathered 200,000 people non-stop for 250 years, generation after generation, reciting Dalaa'il al-Khayrat, the whole city is closed!
May Allah (swt) save us as we are helpless, we are weak, so may Allah share their salawaat with us! That’s the easy way to make du`a: Yaa Rabbee! Whatever `ibaadah Prophet (s) made for You, dress us from it.” That’s the easiest way as we cannot be like Prophet (s), no one can be like Prophet (s), Prophet (s) is one in `uboodiyya, laa shareeka lahy, so may Allah (swt) accept that du`a from all of us and make us to see Prophet (s) in dunya and Akhirah and to be with him always, inshaa-Allah!
Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
