The Sweetness of the Presence of Mahdi (a)

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

21 May 2015 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

Suhbah from Grandshaykh `AbdAllah’s Notes

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`alaa wa barakaatuh. I hope Allah (swt) forgives us by our remembering Him as we have no other means except by dhikrullah and by Habeebullah (s)!

It is said that if you mention the names of pious people or you remember what they are doing, rahmatullah, Allah’s mercy descends on those people who are remembering and sitting. I think this, that Allah (swt) is our witness and Sayyidina Muhammad (s) is a witness, and angels are witnesses, and let every human being be a witness that we said, “Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa ’Llaah wa ash-hadu anaa Muhammadur Rasoolullah!”

[Khatm al-Khwajagan.]

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`alaa wa barakaatuh.Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. Alhamdulillahi ‘lladhee sharrafana bi awliyaa’ihi haythu qaal fi ‘l-Qur’an al-Kareem.

Awliyaullah are of Various Capacities or Levels

and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah is among the Highest

Behold! Verily on the Friends of Allah there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Surah Yunus, 10:62)

Alhamdulillah that I saw many mashaaykh in my life and each one has something that Allah gave to him, but there are different capacities in the hearts of awliya that change from one wali to another, so Allah pours more into the heart of the wali who can carry more, He gives more from the Prophet (s). Everything has to come from the Prophet (s), nothing comes directly from Allah. We can say "direct" because the Prophet is in that direction, he (s) is on as-Siraat al-Mustaqeem, reaching everyone.

I saw many awliya and alhamdulillah we got something from each one, but I did not see a wali in the capacity of Grandshaykh 'AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q). He was like a fountain of knowledge

and when he opens you cannot stop him, he goes for hours. And alhamdulillah we are connected to his successor, his khalifah, Sayyidina Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, to whom he passed the secret, and that is where we are getting what we have heard from them.

No, they live, finding their sustenance provided in the Presence of their Lord. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:169)

Awliyaullah are Alive in the Graves

It means, don’t consider those who died in the Way of Allah (swt) as dead, but they are alive; it means don't consider those who completely killed their desires and the ego and nothing is left from them, that they are amwaat, don't know anything. Those who destroyed their desires and their ego, don’t consider them dead as they are alive: their soul is alive, their nafs, the self is alive, and that self is taking from the Reality of Creation, as Allah (swt) ordered us that if we want to make meditation to meditate on the creation of Heavens and Earth, don’t meditate on Allah (swt) as that is bad adab because you are not there. Meditate on where you are in order to penetrate that block; you can move that obstacle and reach a high level. That is why Allah (swt) said:

Behold! In the creation of Heaven and Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding, those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting and lying down on their sides, and contemplating the creation of the Heavens and the Earth, (saying), "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose! Glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.” (Surat Aali `Imraan, 3:190-191)

He did not say 'ma'rifat Allah', He said, "Those who are making dhikr day and night and they are standing, lying and sitting, contemplating and meditating on the creation of Heavens and Earth." So the meditation has to be there first.

Do not Meditate on Allah as it is Bad Adab, You Cannot Reach Him;

Rather, Meditate on Creation

That’s why Prophet (s) said whenever you want to contemplate or meditate, meditate on the creation of the Heavens and Earth, don’t meditate higher than that as you have to penetrate, you have to kill your desires. Don’t consider the awliyaullah dead; rather, they are alive in the Presence of their Lord provided for. They were able to destroy that desire in themselves, they became alive because they killed their desires. You look at them, they are silent and don’t say anything, but in reality Allah (swt) is dressing them with knowledge and that is something they are giving us to know!

That is why we explained last week about the vision of Great-Grandshaykh Sharafuddin (q), if you still remember, the vision of the people with hats and green turbans following the one who comes in the Last Days. No one can deny that as it is mostly in different books of sahih Hadith. When he appears he is alive, he is not like us. Bal ahyaa’un `inda rabbihim, "He is of that type, heavenly, receiving every moment what orders he has to fulfill.

Don’t be Ignorant by Using Logic to Deny the Prophet!

That is why when he appears there are many who are going to deny him, as when the Prophet (s) appeared Abu Jahl denied him. And Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, “There are too many Abu Jahls among `ulama, too many, not all but many of them.”

They say on their tongue what is not on their hearts. (Surat Ali-Imraan, 3:167)

So be careful and don't be ignorant; Abu Jahl was ignorant, so keep in your heart that reality, about which the Prophet (s) said:

كيف أنتم إذا نزل ابن مريم فيكم وإمامكم منكم

How are you going to be at that time when Sayyidina `Isa (a) comes down from the First Heaven, and your leader is from among you? (Bukhari)

Why is he in the First Heaven, why was he not raised more? Sayyidina Idrees is in the Fourth Heaven, he was lifted. Sayyidina `Isa (a) was lifted to the First Heaven, because when he came, as the story of Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q) goes, they came to kill him and he rubbed on the face of the one who betrayed him and that one became like him and Allah raised Sayyidina `Isa [away from harm], and he asked Allah, “Don't let me die without becoming one of the Ummah of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!” Therefore, he will come and throw out all baatil.

Why was he kept in the First Heaven? Because when he was raised they asked him, “Do you carry anything from mat`a ad-dunya, worldly tools?”

Sayyidina `Isa (a) was so humble. Allah (swt) sent him a table of food, what kind of food, fish? Allah sent him something that is for the hearts of all his students, the Reality of laa ilaaha illa ’Llaah Muhammad rasoolullah, to know about the Prophet (s). That is why it is mentioned in Holy Qur'an:

بِرَسُولٍ يَأْتِي مِن بَعْدِي اسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ

A messenger who will come after me, his name is Ahmad. (Surat al-Saff, 61:6)

“A messenger, his name in Heavens is Ahmad.” They asked him what he has of dunya and he had nothing but a thread and needle to mend his clothes, which is not acceptable in Heaven, they cannot accept anything from dunya, so he was kept waiting in the First Heaven, waiting there to come down and destroy all baatil.

So the Prophet (s) said, “How are you going to be when Sayyidina `Isa (a) descends and your imam is among you, and he will descend on minaaratun baydaa, the white minaret?”

Sayyidina al-Mahdi will call adhaan for Jumu`ah prayers and Sayyidina `Isa (a) will come down in Damascus. So Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) was saying, “Don't be like Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl, who knew the Prophet (s) is the Messenger, but despite that they came against him. Even animals and mountains spoke with the Prophet (s); everything admitted and accepted he is the Prophet (s), so don't be ignorant, don't use your mind!”

Grandshaykh Narrates His Heavenly Vision with Imam Mahdi

Grandshaykh (q) continues:

In my vision I was looking at Mahdi and Mahdi was looking at me, saying, utlub minnee ayyi shay, “Ask me anything for you,” and I said, “I don't have talab, no request.” Then Mahdi (a) said, “No, I am seeing you have something you want to say. Say what is your request!’ I said, "I have one request; if you tell me that you can agree on it and fulfill it, I will ask you.” After a while, the order came, “I will fulfill it for you.”

I said, “What I want is that whom they have been written for me to be their shaykh in the Day of Promises, give them to me now under my control, and you promised that you will fulfill this request, so give me all of them who were written to be under my name on the Day of Promises, under my tarbiyyah, gaze, under my control. If you give that to me, I am accepting to take care of them and to deliver them to the Prophet (s) and from the Prophet (s) to Allah (swt), clean, nothing [of sin] on them. And for me, that is the meaning of baya`: the Reality of the Day of Promises, where Allah gave those people under my control and they are under my baya` to them, so give them to me.”

When I saw him in that vision, I approached him and I hugged him, with my mouth was on his mouth, and until today I am feeling the beauty and sweetness of his mouth [this suhbat was in 1968]. We kept hugging each other and if you had seen that what had happened to me, until this moment I am still feeling the sweetness of Sayyidina al-Mahdi’s (a) kiss and his mouth! law ra'aitum bi hadha shay lamaa taladhadhtum bi hadha'd-dunya bi shay, If you had seen this then you would never have felt any pleasure from this dunya!

That is the meaning of the ayah:

بَلْ أَحْيَاء عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ

No, they live, finding their sustenance provided in the Presence of their Lord. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:169)

That is for those who died before they died, mootoo qabl an tamoot, they have nothing to do with dunya. That is why his bed was made from four pipelike wooden legs and one thein mat on top, and nothing else in the room except one closet for his wife.

Grandhshaykh (q) continued:

Even in Paradise you will not find that sweetness I felt in my mouth from Sayyidina al-Mahdi (a)! He said, "I will fulfill your request, but this is something that no one has ever asked." That what I have... For three days I was in a vision with Mahdi (a) and was preparing my followers that I received from him. When I asked if he could fulfill my request, I received all of them from him and they became under my control. From the Day of Laa ilaaha illa-Llaah Muhammad rasoolullah [the Day of Promises] ‘anaa mutatallaat jami` ahwaal dharraat hadhihi ‘l-ummah, I am observing the states of every atom in every human being. I am observing them from that time and I am raising them according to Laa ilaaha illa-Llaah Muhammad rasoolullah, all those who are under my bay`a, all my followers who came before or after, I want them in my hand! Whatever they put under my hand from Ummat an-Nabi (s), as Ummat an-Nabi (s) is under the Prophet (s) and he gives to Mahdi (a) whatever he wants, whatever he wants I am getting!

Mahdi (a) said, “Those who I am giving to you, when they raise their heads they can see what is written on the Preserved Tablets.”

[This demonstrates that] Awliyaullah are alive, ahyaa: what Allah (swt) gave to them of hayaat no one can describe and what we are describing is something so small compared to the Reality they were feeling and getting! The meaning of bay`a is not easy!

Grandshaykh Read the Preserved Tablets

It is Maghrib time and this will be enough; we will continue next time about the same subject, that reality of reading on the Preserved Tablets is a promise that he took from Mahdi (a). It means our soul is in that place and looking at Preserved Tablets and worshipping according to what is written there. Our physical self is worshipping according to what is in dunya while our soul is worshipping according to what is in the Preserved Tablets, where there is no sin, no mistakes, no ma`asiyy as that is different for the soul, but not for the body; the body always desires dunya. What you do with your body you do, but your soul is there looking at the Preserved Tablets!

May Allah give us good tidings and keep us under Awliyaullah and for us to understand what is the difference between a dead person who is dead, who is not hayy; Awliyaullah are hayy because they killed their desires and normal people are not ahyaa because they did not kill their desires. So when you reach the level by struggling against your desires, you reach the spiritual level of a dead person and have no more desires, then Allah opens your eyes to see Reality.

May Allah (swt) keep us under the eyes and arms of our shuyookh and keep Ummat an-Nabi (s) safe!

Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
