Turkish TV Interview about Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q)

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

7 May 2015 Lefke, Cyprus (2)

Interviewer: Firstly, I want to say thank you for accepting.

Shaykh Hisham: Thank you very much, may Allah (swt) bless you and bless your TV program.

Interviewer: Today is the first anniversary since the passing of Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, so I am asking you what you think about Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani? Were you always close with him? Please explain.

Shaykh Hisham: I knew Mawlana Shaykh Nazim since I was ten years of age in Lebanon when he used to come to our home in Beirut. Since that time I was raised in a family of scholars, and I never saw Mawlana Shaykh Nazim doing something wrong against Shari`ah, but rather he kept the Sunnat an-Nabi (s) as much as he could, and any possibility he had to help, he helped others.

Interviewer: I want to learn about American people who convert to Islam, and also your tekke (dargah, zawiya).

Shaykh Hisham: In general, people are thirsty for spirituality because they feel themselves empty, so spirituality in Islam, the spiritual side of it, people don’t know it, especially non-Muslims. The Muslims know the Shari`ah very well, of course, but there is another level, the level of good manners that the Prophet (s) asked of his Sahaabah, to have good manners, not to lie, not to get angry, not to be jealous, not to hate, as all these are bad characteristics. Our shuyukh, Grandshaykh AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q) and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) taught us how to eliminate these bad behaviors in ourselves. That is our work in America, Europe and the Far East, and alhamdulillah it is successful. We teach the good manners and to eliminate the bad manners.

Interviewer: We thank you for this interview.

Shaykh Hisham: Thank you very much. Allah bless you and bless your TV program and bless everyone inshaa-Allah.
