Good Tidings of Ease for the Last of the Ummah

Signs of the Last Days, Part 3

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

30 January 2015 Burton, Michigan

Jumu`ah Khutbah at As-Siddiq Mosque

Alhamdulillah rabbi ’l-`alameen, hamada nafsahu bi nafsihi. He praised and glorified Himself to Himself. When we get a favor, we say “alhamdulillah” and Allah is saying “alhamdulillah” and He wants us to repeat what He said, He wants us to know that what He said is His Favors on His Servant. That’s why He began Holy Qur'an with Hamd, glorifying Himself and praising Himself. We did not know Him and no one knows him except through His Beautiful Names and Attributes, `azhamatuLlah laa tu`raf illaa bi-asmaa’ihi wa-sifaatihi, through His Names and Attributes His Greatness is known, His `Ilm is known, His Mercy is known and all Ninety-nine Names which we know, and other Names that we don’t know. Al-Hamd for the past and Al-Hamd for the present and Al-Hamd for the future!

Allah says alhamdulillah on what? On what He revealed of His Endless Secrets and their Reality to Sayyidina Muhammad (s). He revealed from His Endless Knowledge the Reality of Creation. He revealed what He wanted to reveal as a Creator and everyone else as servants to Him. That `Azhama, that Greatness He showed it to His Beloved Prophet (s) at the Station of Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adnaa. He showed it by inviting His Prophet (s) to go through this universe and pass beyond Creation, because Allah (swt) cannot be contained by Creation, cannot be contained by His Heavenly Gardens, al-Jannah, cannot be contained by His Paradises. Paradises are created, they are contained by Him, but they do not contain Him. That’s why we cannot say that He ‘sat on the `Arsh’; rather, He istawa `alaa al-`Arsh, He overtook the Divine Throne. How? He knows, we don't know.

From that Greatness that He created from His Greatness, He created Creation and the Master of Creation, the Master of the Children of Adam, is Sayyidina Muhammad (s)!

I am the Master of the Children of Adam and I say this with no pride. (Musnad Ahmad)

Allah gave that to him and granted it to him and Allah created this Earth in order to send us here, because of a mistake. Now, some scholars say ‘mistake’ and some scholars say there is a wisdom in it, that Sayyidina Adam (a) disobeyed Allah (swt) and ate from the Forbidden Tree: because of that everyone was thrown out from human beings. And at that time there was none but Sayyidina Adam (a) and his wife. And the one that was an angel was thrown out and cursed, Iblees, because he whispered in the ear of Sayyidina Adam (a) to eat from the Tree out of hasad, jealousy, of Sayyidina Adam (a) that he was going to make sajdah to him, sajdat al-ihtiraam (sajda of respect), to Adam (a). Allah ordered the angels to make sajda to Sayyidina Adam (a) and between them was Iblees, the cursed one, because he was seeing Maqaam al-Mahmoud and he thought he would be in Maqaam al-Mahmoud, but Allah gave that to the Prophet (s). And the Prophet (s) said, wa laa fakhr, “with no pride’; “I am a humble one, if Allah wants to dress me He dresses me; if Allah doesn’t want to dress me He doesn’t dress me.” Sayyidina Muhammad (s), Allah dressed the Prophet (s) because of his humbleness.

Say, "I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me that your Allah is one Allah. Whoever expects to meet his Lord, let him work righteousness and in the worship of his Lord admit no one as partner. (Surat al-Kahf, 18:110)

“I am only a human being like you, but there is a difference: Jibreel (a) comes to me, Allah reveals to me,” yoohaa ilayy, it might be through Jibreel (a) or directly, like Sayyidina Musa (a) who spoke directly with his Lord [as in Hadith al-Qudsi]. And is Sayyidina Muhammad (s) not able to go directly? But adab:

Enter houses through the proper doors: And fear Allah. (Surat al-Baqara, 2:189)

“Come to the palaces from their doors.” Prophet (s) came through the door and it is humbleness. For example, if there are important people they come with ten, fifteen bodyguards and push the doors in order to go inside with no permission; with permission or no permission they go in. Prophet (s) never went anywhere without permission!

And Allah (swt) tested us. And Prophet (s) was concerned for his ummah and he was always looking for how to save the Ummah:

‏انما بعثت لاتمم مكارم الاخلاق

Verily, I have been sent to perfect the best of conduct (your behavior and character). (Bazzaar)

So the message of the Propeht (s) is the good manners, because even if you are rich, even if you are a scholar or even a wali but if you have no good manners, no one will come to you, even if your `ilm is high. Nowadays in universities they check their teachers and see if they have good reviews. Do we have good reviews? That is the problem. Scholars don't think they need good reviews, that is why they stay within their limits. Awliyaullah know they need good reviews; Allah raises them. Anyone can be a wali, but follow the procedures. And we are:

You were the best of Nations sent to Mankind, calling for what is good and prohibiting what is wrong.

(Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:110)

“You were the best ummah that Allah has sent to humanity,” but are we still like that, or when we came to dunya we changed? Because Holy Qur'an is Allah's Words, it is not created. When Allah says kuntum “you were the best of nations” where was this?

You were the best of Nations evolved for Mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong and believing in Allah. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:110)

“You were the best of nations sent to humanity; you call for good and you prohibit bad.” Are we prohibiting the bad? Are we doing what we need to do? No. The Sahaabah (r) did more. We are not doing like them, not doing like decent Muslims, decent mu’min. We have to bring ourselves up for Allah to be happy with us. Is He happy? You don't need to ask Him, ask yourself. Ask, “Am I doing something good or I am doing something bad to make Allah happy with me or not?” Allah doesn’t need to tell you whether He is happy with you or not. He gave you the key to know by yourself. He was happy with the Sahaabah (r) because they were very hard workers for Islam; they brought Islam up, and we are bringing Islam down.

The Day of Judgement will not arise until the father of five wishes he only had four, and the father of four wishes he only had three, and the father of three wishes he only had two, and the father of two wishes he only had one, and the father of one wishes he didn’t have a child.

(Makhool; Ibn Khuzayma graded it authentic.).

Why are we worried, is He not ar-Razzaaq? Will not Allah provide? If you had one or ten, Allah will provide for them, as He provided for the whole universe, for all human beings in Earth, He will provide for them! So that you are wishing to have instead of five only four and instead of four only three and instead of three only two and instead of two only one and instead of one none. Do we live in such an era or not? There are some few people that don’t wish that, but we are speaking in general. First Egypt, sorry to say that, a long time ago, tahdeed an-nasl, Egypt was the first [in the Muslim world] to bring limits to birth [birth control], it was a government issue, tahdeed an-nasl. And now every country says one child is enough. Why enough one, why enough two, why enough three? Leave it to Allah to give, if He gives ten or fifteen it is not a problem. That is what we are seeing today. And the good thing is this hadith related from Sayyidina al-Hasan (r), that the Prophet (s) said:

إنكم في زمان من ترك منكم عشر ما أمر به ؛ هلك ، ثم يأتي زمان من عمل منكم بعشر ما أمر به ؛ نجاإ

You happen to be in such a time that if anyone of you leaves even one-tenth of what you have been ordered to do, he will be ruined. Then will come such a time that if anyone accomplishes even one-tenth of what the people have been ordered to do, he will be absolved. (Sunan at-Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Fitan)

Sayyidina al-Hasan (r) is addressing the Sahaabah (r), saying to them, “You are in an era or time that if you leave one-tenth of what you have been ordered to do you will go to a bad ending, you will be destroyed.” If you do ninety percent and you leave one-tenth you will have a bad ending, Prophet (s) is saying, and he continued, “There will be coming a time,” which we are in today, “when the one who will do one-tenth will be saved (he leaves the ninety percent and is still doing one-tenth).” Now we need to do at least one-tenth, then Allah will save us! With His Mercy, Allah will save them. And look how much Prophet (s) is mentioning these Ahadeeth out of his mercy towards his ummah to teach us! Allah knows when that Hadith came to the Prophet (s) as he:

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى

Nor does he say (anything) of (his own) desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him. (Surat an-Najm, 53:3-4)

“He doesn’t say anything from his desire, except it is wahiyy.” So when a Hadith comes to the heart of Prophet (s) and we do that, then we are saved. He predicted, he knew this is going to happen so he made du`a, “Yaa Rabbee! Give my Ummah less!” and the Hadith came, “If anyone will do one-tenth he will be saved.” If anyone will do more, that is explained here, of course if you do more that is better, but still if you do only one-tenth it is accepted. May Allah (swt) accept from us without one-tenth or bring us to one tenth as He didn’t limit it, He didn’t specify it, but whatever we’ve been ordered to do of obligations, and some scholars go up to 500 ma’mooraat, orders that you have to keep, if we do one-tenth of that Allah will save us!

May Allah save us all.

[Du`a.]
