As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. W 'alhamdulillahi ’Lladhee jama`anaa fee haadha l-jam`a al-kareem. Wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa Sayyidi ’r-Rusul Sayyidina wa-Nabiyyina Muhammadin `alayhi afdal as-salaatu wa ‘t-tasleem.

Muslim, mu'min, muhsin, to Allah (swt) are the lovers. Allah, Huwa Allah `azza wa jall, khaaliq al-ashyaa’, He is the One that created Creation. That is why His Name begins with Alif. Islam begins with Alif because Allah owns Islam, Islam is for Him; Allah calls it ‘Islam’. It is the religion of Allah that He wants for His Ummah, for His servants. Islam and then Imaan and then Ihsaan all begin with Alif, so any word related to Allah begins with Alif. That’s why Islam is for Allah and it begins with Alif, Imaan is for Allah and begins with Alif, Ihsaan is for Allah and begins with Alif.

So Allah (swt) is the Creator, and who is His Servant? The Servant of Allah (swt) for whom He created Creation is Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! Muhammad, wa al-`abd, wa khaaliq. Muhammad Huwa al-`abd w 'Allah Huwa al-Khaaliq, Muhammad is al-`Abd (The Servant) and the first letter of his name is the letter Meem, so any word beginning with Meem is related to `Abd and any word beginning with Alif is related to Allah (swt). So Muhammad is the `Abd and by following Islam one becomes Muslim, it is a noun, because there it is `abd/`uboodiyya (servanthood). Imaan is Alif, that belongs to Allah; Mu’min is `Abd that begins with Meem. Ihsaan is for Allah and begins with what? Alif. Muhsin begins with Meem because it’s `Abd. So Muslim, Mu’min, Muhsin are the sifaat, words that describe Islam, Imaan, Ihsaan. So any word that begins with Meem has to be `Abd and has to obey Allah (swt).

That’s why the reality of Islam is in the heart of the Muslim, the reality of Imaan is in the heart of the Mu'min, the reality of Ihsaan is in the heart of the Muhsin. Or we can say the heart of a Muslim is Islam, the heart of a Mu'min is Imaan and the heart of the Muhsin is Ihsaan. So Muslim, Mu’min, Muhsin are the reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) because he is the real Muslim, he is the real Mu’min, he is the real Muhsin. That means these three are his names in Heaven--Muslim, Mu'min, Muhsin--and no one is higher than that! Islam is for him to perform, he is the real Muslim, no one else is Muslim except by tongue, but by reality, by heart, it is Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! So for sure one of his names is Muslim (s), one of his names is Mu’min (s) and one of his names is Muhsin (s).

Tonight is the night of Mawlid an-Nabawi Sharif (s). It is the day of the Muslim (s), the day of the Mu'min (s), the day of the Muhsin (s), because it is the day of Prophet’s birth! On that day Islam, Imaan and Ihsaan came to the universe, the Reality of Heavens appeared on Earth, because he is on Earth and that reality was waiting for him until the day came that he went to see his reality in Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adna. In front of the Divine Presence the one who is holding Islam is Prophet (s), he is the Muslim and he is always in the Divine Presence as the Reality of Islam. So when he was born, that reality of Prophet (s) appeared in dunya.

Anyone who does the obligations that Prophet (s) mentioned in the hadith of Sayyidina `Umar (r) fulfills the Five Pillars:

Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establishing the salaah (prayer); paying the zakaat (obligatory charity); making the Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House; and fasting in Ramadan. (Bukhari and Muslim)

That Islam is the Five Pillars: Shahaadah, prayers, fasting, Hajj and charity. Anyone doing the obligations is receiving Noor from Prophet (s) that will allow him to perform these five obligations; without that Noor that comes from Prophet (s) to the person no one is able to do these five obligations. This is Islam, and the one who is ordered is the Muslim and from Prophet (s) comes that Noor of ‘Muslim’, his Noor is being distributed at every moment coming from Heavens to Earth. Anyone doing their five prayers will receive that Noor day-after-day until he dies, and at that moment he will see that Noor that accumulated within his body raising him up to a level that Allah (swt) makes his grave Barzakh, a Jannah, and enlarges his grave. It will not be hufratun min hufar an-neeraan:

إِنَّمَا القَبْرُ رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الجَنَّةِ أَوْ حُفْرَةٌ مِنْ حُفَرِ النَّارِ

Truly the grave is either a garden from the Gardens of Paradise or a pit from the pits of Hell. (Tirmidhi)

His grave will not be a hole of fire or punishment, his grave becomes a Paradise because he is receiving that Light from Prophet (s), and every human being will receive part of that Light.

The Muslim, Mu'min and Muhsin are Muhammad (s), that’s why Allah (swt) made him the cream of the religion! That is perfection, if someone can do it. That’s why Allah said to Prophet (s):

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ۬

Verily you are of a great character. (Surat al-Qalam, 68:4)

“You are of a great, `azheem character”, no one knows its beginning, no one knows its end, but it describes the reality of Muslim, Mu’min, and Muhsin (s). Be mu’min! Be muhsin! Be Muslim! And Allah said:

The Arabs declare, “We believe (amanna).” Say (to them, O Muhammad), “You do not; rather say, ‘We submit (aslamna),’ because belief has not yet found its way into your hearts.” (Surat al-Hujuraat, 49:14)

Don't say, “We are mu’min,” but say, “We are Muslim,” which means until imaan enters the heart you are Muslim. So most Muslims’ worship falls under the Five Pillars as to go to the level of `Aqeedah Imaan is difficult, it’s not easy, but every Muslim should have it. Ihsaan is the highest level of good manners and good characters about which the Prophet (s) said:

‏انما بعثت لاتمم مكارم الاخلاق

I have been sent to perfect the best of conduct (your behavior and character). (Bazzaar)

“I was sent to perfect your manners.” So may Allah (swt) change our bad manners to good manners and keep us in the presence of Prophet (s) that one day in dunya to be able to see him, inshaa-Allah.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
