Be Happy When They Make Fitna Against You

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

10 January 2013 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

`Isha Suhbah After Khatm

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.

Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah,

nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`alaa fee haadha 'l-masjid.

Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.

Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Inshaa-Allah we will make suhbah on Saturday, but I will say a couple of words only for reminding, not too much. Rabi` al-Awwal begins on Saturday evening.

Inna-Llaaha yudaafi`u `ani ’Lladheena aamanoo.

Verily Allah will defend (from ill) those who believe. (Surat al-Hajj, 22:38)

From what? The usual meaning is that Allah (swt) defends the believers from those who come against them. That is the real meaning, but the interpreted meaning is that Allah does not accept for the believers the first level in Heaven, rather Allah wants for them the highest level in Paradise.

Fee maq`adi sidqin `inda maleekin muqtadir.

In an assembly of truth, in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent. (Surat al-Qamar, 54:55)

If you do `ibaadah such as saying the Shahadah, fasting, praying, performing Hajj or giving sadaqah, you do so because it is an obligation, but don’t think it will last forever, and Allah may or may not accept it. Don’t say, “I am praying to go to Paradise.” No, you are obliged to pray as it is a heavenly law! However, you achieve high levels when someone makes fitna against you. Be happy, don’t be upset, because Allah will take the hasanaat from the one making fitna and bad rumors and give it to you!

We cannot compare a jewel to a stone. All of us are pebbles and the Prophet (s) is the jewel. He is the Jewel, the Reflection of Allah's Light into Human Beings, he is the one for whom Allah created Creation! Despite this, they were still accusing him of being a magician, although they were his own people, his own tribe and those next door, but Allah (swt) made them to be down and raised his remembrance:

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ

Wa rafa`naa laka dhikrak.

And We have elevated your remembrance! (Surat ash-Sharh, 94:4)

Inna a`taynaaka al-kawthar fa salli li rabbika wanhar inna shaaniaka huwa ’l-abtar.

To you have We granted the Fount (of Abundance); therefore, to your Lord turn in prayer and sacrifice, as he who hates you will be cut off (from future hope). (Surat al-Kawthar, 108:1-3)

Allah is saying, “We have raised your remembrance,” and fa salli li rabbika wanhar, “Therefore, to your Lord turn in prayer and sacrifice, inna shaaniaka huwa’l-abtar, as he who hates you will be cut off.” Your enemy who created fitna against you is the one who is a loser and will be cut. So don't worry: those who are on haqq, as I said, are like engines running very fast, reaching the presence of the Prophet (s). There are still other trains from earlier days known as steam locomotives that make the sound “chuk, chuk!” They run on coal and move very slowly, but they still move. Those who are hearing rumors but not stopping them, their train is slowing down. Those who have been slapped on their faces and whipped from here and there with rumors, such as us, are like rockets. They are jealous of us because we did so much work for Malwana and tariqah; they don’t like it and are jealous!

Those who spread rumors don’t even care that they are doing so against shaykhs or awliya, as for them it is no problem. Even Sayyidina Ya`qub’s ten children put Sayyidina Yusuf (a) in the well. They were, are, and will be prophets and are infallible on the Day of Judgment. So those who come and make fitna and don’t stop, even if against awliya whose wilaya is for Akhirah and not dunya, their train uses charcoal and sounds, “chuk, chuk, chuk!” Those who are making rumors and thinking of themselves as representatives, their train is making the sound “chuk, chuk,” with no wheels and no movement, only an old sound, while those who are slapped by them are moving like rockets. Why? Because Allah defends them in front of His Angels! Inna-Llaaha yudaafi`u `ani ’Lladheena aamanoo. Allah (swt) takes from their hasanaat and gives to those who are oppressed. I heard it from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) hundreds of times; these are his words in balaagh!

Kun mazhlooman wa laa takun zhaalima.

Be oppressed and don't be an oppressor.

The Prophet (s) said:

حاسبوا أنفسكم قبل أن تحاسبوا

Haasiboo anfusikum qabla an tuhaasaboo.

Judge yourself before you will be judged.

`An `Ayesha (r) anna rasoolullaahi (s) qaala: man hoosiba `udhdhib. Qaalat `Ayeshatu: yaa Rasoolullaahi, fa ayna qawlahu: Fa-ammaa man ootiya kitaabahu bi-yameenihi fa-sawfa yuhaasabu hisaaban yaseera. Qaala: dhaalikumu’l-`ardu, wa laakinnahu man nooqisha’l-hisaaba `udhdhib.”

Truly whoever is accounted will never be able to pass and will be punished. (Bukhari)

So let them be judged, because on the Day of Judgment we are going to say, “Yaa Rabbee! They spread bad rumors against us, we need our rights!” They will lose all their good deeds, even if they have prayed and fasted. They are muflis, as the Prophet (s) said:

من احيا سنتي عند فساد أمتي فله أجر مائة شهيد

Man ahyaa sunnatee `inda fasaada ummatee falahu ajra miata shaheed.

There are people who continue to revive my sunnah. For each sunnah they revive, Allah will give them the reward of seventy martyrs (“one-hundred martyrs,” in different riwaya.)

The Prophet (s) said:

Do you know who the muflis (bankrupt one) is? The muflis from my Ummah is one who comes on the Day of Judgment having performed prayer, fasting, and giving zakaat. However, along with all of this, he abused this person and slandered that person, ate the wealth of this person and unlawfully spilled the blood of that person. These people will take from his good deeds. If, however, his good deeds become exhausted, then their sins will be put upon him and he will be thrown into the Fire.

(Tirmidhi)

Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur’an:

وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَى مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاء مَّنثُورًا

Wa qadimna ilaa maa `amiloo min `amalin faja`alnahu habaa’am manthoora.

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about. (Surat al-Furqaan, 25:23)

May Allah (swt) forgive us and guide them, and still today we ask Allah to guide them. They know what they are doing. There are too many of them, too many elements of Shaytan! They come like snakes into paradises between people to poison them!

May Allah protect us from their poison and keep us happy with our families, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, students and communities and our countries, and keep us always at the door of Prophet (s) and the Ka`bah, to be there spiritually even if we are not there physically.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
