The Most Powerful Prayer

Sayyid ad-Du`a and the

Power of our Most Distinguished Shaykhs

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

21 January 2012 Feltham, London, UK

Suhbah at CSCA

When you say to awliyaullah, “I am at your feet, I am under your order,” they like to test you with another, bigger test. If you say, “Yes,” they raise you higher through your heart and the tests never finish. Prophet (s) said, “I am the most abused and tortured prophet.” Sayyidina Musa (a) was forty years in the desert and his people killed each other; similarly, all the prophets were tested, including Sayyidina Ibrahim (a). This is the way of this life, of struggle, and if Allah (swt) wants to give something to someone, no one can take it away.

We must be patient like an ant and move like an ant; you cannot reach your goal but you are ordered. This is your goal, so you go for it but you cannot reach it and if they see you are still moving after being given one test after another, they will carry you. There is a heavenly breath of youth that comes from heaven which you can't find in any perfume, and they will take you from here and put you there.

We are meeting today, and who said these beautiful faces would be here? Who sent that attraction today and yesterday? There were people at the event who couldn't convince some others to come, but there were people who came by the attraction in their hearts to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q). I mentioned to someone earlier, “Don't be surprised, this is an indication that Mawlana's secret is present.” When people come to this secret, when they stand at the threshold, they want Mawlana's love; when you connect, awliyaullah are there.

So many people came today who want help with their problems, and we can say that everyone has problems, even the shaykh. Even Mawlana Shaykh (q) has problems, because awliyaullah are always being tested! Everyone with problems wants a way out of them, so don’t think the one who sent you here doesn't have them also. I tell people, “Don't tell Mawlana Shaykh your problems.” It will take you 15 minutes, then your time will be short. He may do a prayer and then there are other people coming, and you will use all your time talking and not get the benefit. They told me yesterday, “People want to talk to you one by one,” and I said, “No, I will not do that. It is better to talk to them and give naseeha, advice, all at once and to make one prayer for everyone.”

قال النبي ﷺ: الدين النصيحة قلنا: لمن يا رسول الله؟ قال: لله ولكتابه ولرسوله ولأئمة المسلمين وعامتهم

The Prophet (s) said, ad-deenu ‘n-naseeha, “Religion is advice.” This is Islam and Muhammad (s) is the role model, not even a model, but the only one to whom Allah (swt) gave everything. But what is the meaning of naseeha? The root of the word is nasaha, three letters that mean “advice.” They used this word at that time because it came according to the dialect of the different tribes. With tashkeel, harakat, using vowels, na, sa, ha, you get “naseeha”, and now we have the vowel markings fat-ha, damma and kasra. The Arab tribes had different dialects, with different words for different meanings; there was no tashkeel at that time, vowel markings, so they pronounced the words according to their own tribe's dialect. They would say, “This is wrong,” to Prophet (s) and he would say, “No you are both right according to your dialect.”

So “nasaha” is when honey is purified, taking away everything impure and making it very clean, with no wax or other things. It means to clean the honey and the literal meaning of “nasaha”, “naseeha lillah”, means to take out all the impurities of your aqeedah and to clean your belief in Allah (swt), our Prophet (s) and regarding mu'mineen.

For today's event, I was not planning to give a suhbah because they told me the format would be one-to-one. I got a message from Mawlana, “It will take you ten hours for one-to-one, cover everyone at once.” Everyone will get the barakah from this place so all the questions will be answered, all difficulties will be eased, who is sick will be cured and everyone’s problems will be taken away. This includes difficulties with the government, lawyers, business, jobs or whatever you are asking for in dunya or Akhirah. Concerning Akhirah, I can give you the good tiding that all of you are under Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and he is under Prophet (s). Alhamdulillah! Inshaa-Allah, with the intention to worship Allah (swt) and obey his Prophet (s), and the intention that we are with His Prophet (s) and his awliyaullah, we will be with them. For Akhirah, Allah (swt) is merciful, but for dunya, people and governments are not merciful. Not everyone will have a miracle; it will go slowly, so it is not “kun fayakoon.”

I was sitting with Mawlana Shaykh one time, and he was telling me:

"Subhanallah Shaykh Hisham! Some people come to me some people came and say, 'O my shaykh! I have a shaykh in Pakistan (or India, Morocco, Lebanon or Syria) and he has told me I have black magic on me and I need to be showered with special water on which he has read on, and I have to pay him so much money, and I have to bring a rooster,' and so forth. They come to me with this, which is okay, it is no problem, because some things like this do happen."

"But," he said, "why did I give them baya`? And allow them to take my hand? Am I heedless of what they are experiencing in their daily life? How do they say I am their shaykh when there is sihr, magic on them. Why am I sitting here? I am here only for them! I will not let one bit of black magic on one of my students, but they have to open their hearts to me. If they don't open their hearts they are not going to get that. They have to have strong belief that I will take this [away] even if they call me from China, but through their hearts I will reach them in the same moment, and I will answer them."

They don't need to get away from that black magic.

Yesterday, the Senegali people stayed all night, reciting, and they did not stop; their hearts are filled with love of Prophet (s) so they are able to do that. The people in charge of the place were not objecting, but I knew they had to empty the space by 10 o'clock. If you were to leave the Senegalis they would continue, like when people are sitting and eating and they don't want to move out. As soon as it came to my heart that they were going to take a long time, they picked up on that and immediately the main person among them stopped; their hearts are so clean they can get any message. The shuyookh hear their students from far away, so if the students say, “Yaa, sayyidi, labayk!” they have to be know.

One time Grandshaykh (q) said something very big, “awliyaullah are in need of their students." I couldn't understand what Grandshaykh (q) was saying in the suhbah, which Mawlana Shaykh (q) was translating at the time, that the wali needs the student. If he doesn't have the student he will not get the wilayat because he gets it for the benefit of the student. There are awliya who do not have mureeds or students and awliyaullah need students.

Prophet (s) said, “I have one presence with Allah (swt) and one with the ummah at the same time.” This means he is in the universe, in dunya, but he is in seclusion in his heart; he is connected with Allah (swt) on the inside, but on the outside he is with the students. Big awliya can be with people and still be connected with their Lord. Grandshaykh (q) said, “The wali needs the student,” because what he is being given is on account of his students. This is why it is said:

لاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللّهُ نَفْسًا إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا

laa yukallifullahu nafsan illa wusa`aha.

Allah does not put a burden on anyone more than he can bear. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:286)

No one is given more than he can carry, so the shaykh can carry his students and this is why Grandshaykh (q) said, “The wali needs the student.” There are increasing numbers of people coming, more and more students, and Mawlana (q) is given the power to carry us. We are like babies and, although I don't like to mention this, we still need our diapers changed! Everyone is under Mawlana's barakah for any problem you have, although we will speak with that person who has come from Switzerland with a special question.

One time I was studying at university and we had an exam in two day's time. I said to my brother, “Let’s go see Grandshaykh.” The drive was easy at that time, about two hours between Lebanon and Syria, but my mother was upset because parents are concerned about their children’s studies. People ask for prayers for success in their studies, and they need to know that one prayer is enough for everyone. Prophet (s) will make one prayer on the Day of Judgement and there will be no accounts; one prayer will take the whole ummah to Paradise. The first sajda will take one-third, the second will take one-third, and the last sajda will take the remaining one-third of the ummah. This is hadith.

So our mother said not to go and we got into an argument. We left around 12 o'clock and we arrived in Damascus by 5 o'clock. When we got there, we went up the stairs. Mawlana never opened his door, because when you knocked his helper would open it. There were two rooms for guests, then you would go up the hallway and his room was on the side. We went up there and Mawlana opened the door; Grandshaykh was waiting. How did he know we were coming? As I said, you can call a wali from China and he will know. He said a bad word, which I won't repeat, to show how unhappy he was. Then he said, "My door isn't open for anyone who makes his mother unhappy!" and he closed the door. There was no way for him to know this except through his sainthood. Before he closed the door he said, “Make your mother happy, don't fight."

Don't argue or fight because you become like a drunk person. Our mother had said, “Don't go! First take your test, then go.” She was there when we returned; we took the test and then she said, “You may now go to Grandshaykh.” When we arrived, Mawlana opened the door and said, "Now you can come in." He took us to his room, saying, "My sons, out of rahmah, mercy, I will tell you something by order of Prophet (s). You have to keep it in your mind because it is from tariqah and you need to know and learn this." Now I am passing it on to you.

He said, “A wali is not a wali if he cannot look at his mureeds at any given moment, but because he is busy with `ibaadah and dhikr, he will look at each of them just at certain times; he will do this at least three times daily. Even if a mureed is eating or sleeping, he knows; he knows how many breaths are in his mureed’s sleep and how many hours he is sleeping. He can look deeper if he likes.” Grandshaykh continued, “I look at you at least three times each day and when I look at you I don't send you candy, but I send you tests and difficulties. Remember that when you are angry I am looking at you and if you are aware I am looking at you at that time, I can help you and change your difficulty and problems. If not, you will be left alone. So remember, I will be looking at least three times a day, minimum. At a maximum, I will look as many times as they like." So remember this; they don't like it when you get angry because it is the worst of bad manners. When someone gets angry, especially gangs and particularly Pakistani gangs, they do the worst things against Muslims.

I will make one prayer for everyone and inshaa-Allah all the problems will be solved. Fatihah. (du`a)

The month of Rabbi 'l-Awwal is coming within two or three days. (du`a) What I just recited is in the awraad book (available online Sayyid ad-Du`a of Grandshaykh `Abdullah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani). Grandshaykh (q) said this du`a is the heart of all du`as, and anyone who recites that du`a in the morning and evening will see all the difficulties in his life disappear. If you keep that du`a you will live a good life, not a bad life; even with all the problems in Lebanon, we never saw a bad day. Grandshaykh (q) said, “Anyone who is with me will never see a bad day,” and this is true for all the mureeds. This has been passed to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, but the mureeds have to read this du`a two times daily:

Sayyid ad-Du`a of Grandshaykh:

Allahuma ayqithna fee ahabbi 's-sa`at ilayka yaa Wadud. yaa dha'l-`arshil-majeed fa`alun limaa yureed hal ataaka hadithul-junooda fira`awna wa thamood bal-illadheen kafaroo fee takdheebin w'allahu min waraaihim muheet. bal huwa qur’anun majeedun fee lawhin mahfoozh. (PDF at https://sufilive.com/dua/Sayyid-ad-Dua-By-GrandShaykh-Abdullah-Dagistani.pdf)

This du`a will cover all sins, and Allah (swt) will not say, “I cannot take your sins away.” All sins and everything will be taken care of because for all sins there is a cure.” Everything you need from dunya and Akhirah will be taken care of and it will be made easy. (du`a)

Fatihah.
