Yaa Sayyidee! We Wish to See You Always!

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

11 June 2011 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

`Isha Suhbah at Private Residence

As-salaam `alaykum wa rahmaatullahi wa barakaatuh.

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. Kalimataan khafeefataan `ala ‘l-lisaan, thaqeelataan fi ’l-meezaan subhaanAllah wa bi-hamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem, istaghfirullah.

I don’t know what to say, but I like to say that today we have a sincere invitation by Hajj Ghulam’s parents and we have a spiritual invitation by Hajj Ghulam's, since they are the cause, you and Shafeek, it is becoming a spiritual and physical (association) both sides. Allah (swt) gave awliyaullah a specialty that they are able to feed people from spiritual food that no one is able to understand. The imaan of the people of Sayyidina `Isa (a), the Hawaariyoon, was not yet of what Sayyidina `Isa (a) likes, so they said, and that is why all of us we look (...).

Everyone now looks if there is food, then they come, and if there is no food they don't come. It is true. But at such events when there is (...) everyone will come because Allah's will is to get them to benefit from such events. The Hawariyoon didn’t yet reach the level of Sahaabah of the Prophet (s) and that is why they asked:

هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِّنَ السَّمَاء

Ayastati` rabbuka an yunazzilu `alayna?

"O Jesus the son of Mary! can thy Lord send down to us a table set (with viands) from heaven?" (Surat al-Ma’ida, 5:112)

They were not yet able to be in Divine Presence, so they said, "Can ‘your Lord’ descend on us a heavenly table in order that our hearts be satisfied?" And Sayyidina `Isa (a) said, “O Allah! Send on us that table from the sky that will be `Eid for the first of us and last of us." But Allah made a condition on it, that if anyone doesn't believe after that, they will be kafir. But for the Sahaabah (...audio cut...). Salloo `ala an-nabi.

In Indonesia, when you say, “salloo `ala an-Nabi,” they respond with salawaat that is like waves of the ocean!

Allah (swt) gave to the Prophet (s), to Muslims, to ummat an-nabi, a table of daily five times salaat. That will be a table when you sit for dhikr and the angels will come and clean you and surround you and recite with you all the way up to Heavens, to the Divine Presence, and their tasbeeh will be written for the people reciting. Not like us, we do tasbeeh for half-an-hour and become tired and want to go home! No, their tasbeeh is continuous up to Judgment Day.

Some of them recite, “subhaanAllah,” some, “istaghfirullah,” some say, “Allahu Akbar,” and whatever tasbeeh they do is being written on your behalf. From their tasbeeh, Allah creates angels who do the same tasbeeh up to Judgment Day. It is not like our tasbeeh, not recited one time and it is finished, but they say “laa ilaha illa-Llah” continuously, and for each letter Allah creates angels. For the word, “Allah," Allah creates four letters (A-ll-a-h), and for each recitation another angel is created, and another angel is created, for trillions and quadrillions of tasbeeh; only Allah knows what will be written for you! So such associations remind you of Allah (swt):

إن لله ملائكة يطوفون في الطرق يلتمسون أهل الذكر

Lillah malaa’ikatan yatoofoon fi’t-turuqaat yatalamasoona ahlu ‘dh-dhikr.

There are Allah's angels roaming the streets looking for the people of dhikr.

Today, cell phones roam. That hadith of the Prophet (s) predicted roaming 1400 years ago. They are angels roaming, looking for dhikr in order to present it to Allah. So what Allah gave to Muslims, we cannot mention how much reward and how much favor it is to be Muslim. Are you Muslims? (Yes!) Then say, “laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah!” Finished! We did our job.

Laa ilaaha illa-Llah Muhammadun Rasoolullah is enough: we will witness for each other on Judgment Day that we said it! Now we say, “As-salaam `alayk, yaa Rasoolullah!” Is he (s) not seeing? Imam Suyuti (r) spoke about the hadith, “Who sees me in a dream will see me in reality.” What did scholars say? It means, on the Day of Judgement you will see him, and not only that, but Imam Suyuti said, “All people will see Sayyidina Muhammad (s) on Judgment Day.” So it is not special, but it means you will see him in this world. For sure you must see the Prophet (s) because he is “as-Saadiq al-Masdooq.” He said, “You will see me in reality.” That is the truth.

Yaa Sayyidee! Yaa Rasoolullah! We are requesting to see you, to smell you, to touch you, to look at you always!

And Imam Suyuti said in his tafseer of that hadith that Prophet (s) said, "I am fresh, alive in my grave, man salla `alayy radd-Allah `alayya roohee hatta usalli `alayh, whoever recites salawaat on me, Allah returns my soul to me to return the salawaat.” As people send salawaat on the Prophet (s) every moment, does it mean every time that happens Allah sends the Prophet’s (s) soul back to his body? No, since every moment of day and night the globe is turning, they are sending salawaat, so that means the Prophet’s soul is present at all times in his body!

So we sing:

الله ربي ربي تعالي

Allahu rabbee, rabbee ta`ala

Allah is my Lord, My Lord most High

يا حبيبي صلني فالعهد طال

ya habeebee silnee wal-`ahdu taala

O my Beloved, connect me, for time has long passed.

حبيبي زرني وأعلي شاني

habeebee zurnee wa `alee shaannee

O my beloved visit me, and raise my station,

حسا ومعنى حالا وقالا

hissan wa ma`ana wa haalan wa qaala

physically and spiritually, in body in words.

قربي وبعدي عزي وذلي

qurbee wa bu`dee `izzee wa dhullee;

my nearness, my distance, my honor and my disgrace

حبك فتني ودمعي سال

hubbak fatanee wa dam`aak saala.

your love has made me bewildered and my tears are pouring down.

صبرت صبرا صبرا جميلا

sabartu sabran sabran jameelan

I have been patient a long-lasting patience

و الان صبري صار ؟

wa ’l-aan sabree saar?

and now my patience has become torn

اوفيني اجزي كففت قبدي

awfeenee ajzee kafafta qabdee,

You cut my liver into pieces and it became like ropes,

قولوا جميعا صلاة ربي

quloo jameeyan salaatu rabbee

say altogether praise of My Lord

على حبيبي محمد خير الرجال

`ala habeebee Muhammad khayra rijaala

on my beloved Muhammad the best of men.

ظننت خيرا فحقق ظني

dhanantu khayran fa haqqiq dhannee

I have put best hopes in You so make real my hopes

فزرني و لو خيالا

Fa zurnee wa law khayaalan

for Allah's sake come to see me even as a shadow

حبك فتني

hubbuka fatanee,

I am near but I feel so far I cannot reach your love;

Now I will explain each verse:

Yaa habeebee silnee,

O my beloved, You promised that I will see you, so let me see you!

Al-`ahdu taala,

That has been a long time. Please let me see you, the taste to make tears in the eye!

When someone is speaking from their heart, we are asking our shuyukh, al-`ahdu taala, “A long time has passed and we are asking you take us to the Prophet (s), our shaykh!”

Da`ootu Rabbee wa ’l-rabbu `alam,

I made du`a to my Lord and the Lord knows when I am by myself, what I am asking is not too much, let me see you, the Most Honorable, the Best of Characters, the One Who -------! Your name, (Shaykh Hisham stands.)

D`aawtu Rabbee...

I called my Lord and He knows about myself what kind of state I am in, drunk feelings I am in; it is enough for me to say He knows more about me than myself.

Sabartu sabran jameelan wa al-aan,

I was patient, sabran, because I was eating the sourness of being away from my Beloved One.

Sabartu sabran jameelan,

A long time that sabr, I was feeling the nearness to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and now my patience is slowly wearing out, it is going, it is disappearing, I am losing hope. Where are you?

Yaa Sayyidee! anzhur haalana bi nazharatan minka ya habeeballah. ... habeebee zurnee,

O my beloved, visit me! O Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! Visit me and let me see you, and `alee shaanee, raise my level to be able to see you!

Hissan wa ma`na,

With sensation within and with taste of sweetness, so I can swallow that love of going to you!

Yaa Sayyidee! Yawm al-Qiyamah `izzee wa qurbee hubbuka fatanee,

I am near but I feel so far! I cannot reach you; your love has made me bewildered and my tears coming down. My tongue, the good thoughts I have that I am going to see you!

Haqqiq dhanee,

Make it true! For Allah's sake come to see me even as a shadow!

awfeenee ajzee kafafta qabdee,

You cut my liver into pieces and it became like ropes!

quloo jam`eeyan salaatu rabbee

say altogether praise of My Lord

`ala habeebee Muhammad khayra rijaala

Say altogether,

Allahu Rabbee, Allah Ta`ala, yaa Rabbee silnee, ...da`watu rabbee fa `alam bi haalee sabartu sabran sabran jameelan wal-aan sabree saar ...habeebee zurnee wa `alee shaannee hissan wa ma`an wa haalan wa qaala... `izzee wa hububak fatanee... dhanantu khayran fa haqqiq dhannee wa khayaalan, awfee bee ahdee qata`ta kabidee, fasirtu habalan, qooloo jammi`yyan salaatu rabbee `ala Muhammad.... yaa habeebee, yaa Muhammad!

May Allah (swt) forgive us and may Allah support us, and may Allah bless this house and all the houses that honored the Prophet (s) by making such associations of dhikrullah and salaat!

Fatihah.

Du`a.

[mureed] We are drowning, yaa Sayyidee, in the power of what you are delivering from the presence of Sayyidina Muhammad (s)! May Allah raise you forever and ever, and keep us with you and our master, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani.
