Khutbat al-Jumu`ah

Michigan Zawiya

O Muslims, believers! Ramadan is coming in front of us. The Prophet (s) said, “Rajabun shahrullah wa Sha`ban shahree wa Ramadan shahra ummattee” ..and Ramadan in month of whole nation.

What does that mean, Ramadan in for the whole nation? It means that whatever Allah swt has prepared of rewards and heavenly treasures in the month of Rajab, which no one knows, what Allah is giving of rewards to His servants, all servants whom Allah wants to give, He will give. We don’t know. Whom Allah wants to give hidaya he gives. So what Allah swt from His unknown knowledge that no one knows, from His own Beautiful Names and Attribute, al-`Alim, the Knower, the Creator, what Allah wants to give, He will prepare it. He doesn’t need to prepare, but He says, “Be!” and it will be.

But in that month of Rajab, the Prophet (s) said, “I don’t hear the sareer al-qalam, the sound of pens, writing.” In that month Allah ordered that the angels not write anything on the left.

So the Prophet used to say, “I am not hearing the pens what they are writing on the `amal of Allah’s servants thru their lives.” Because it stops, Allah himself takes the `amal of His servants directly

So what he prepared in Rajab, as Rajab is month of Allah, and whatever is prepared in the month of Sha`ban where it is his month, and when Ramadan comes, where Ramadanu shahru ummattee, the Prophet (s) will dress whatever he has done in Sha`ban. The kareem, generous one, doesn’t take, he gives. “When I give them, then Allah swt will dress them already, because I dressed them with my worship,” and so they appear like lights before Allah swt. When the Prophet (s) will dress you with his prayers, and zakaat, and fasting and hajj, because he dresses the Ummah with his `amal, how will the Ummah look? They will be dressed with the highest level of worship. Then Allah looks at them dressed with perfect worship.

So why does Allah do that? Why does Prophet do that? For a simple reason. It is very simple for us to say it but it is very difficult to do it.

Why? Because Allah swt loves us and Allah made His Prophet to love his Ummah. So They do that out of love. So we have to learn that if They do this for the `aseen, the sinners, the Prophet (s) is sharing all his blessing with us, and Allah is dressing them with all this, while we are sinners, our prayers are like imitational prayers, our fast is like an imitational fast.

So they are saying “We love you.” Prophet is saying “We love you.” We have to say “we love you.” Is it enough for us to say, “O Allah we love you, O Prophet we love you.”

They are doing it by action. So we must respond by action. Allah is dressing us with His Beautiful Names and Attributes and the Prophet (s) as the perfect `abd is dressing us with the worship that he worshipped. They dress us because they love us. Do we love Them? If we love Them we have to act on it. How do we act on it?

What did the Prophet (s) say in hadith?

Man ahya sunnatee faqad ahabanee - The one who revived my Sunnah that is a sign he really loved me.” So if we really love Sayyidina Muhammad (s) what we have to do? Huh? We have to revive the Sunnah. The Prophet (s) said, “Whoever revives my Sunnah in the days when my Ummah is corrupted…” today you see too much corruption. Everywhere you travel, people come and say “there is too much corruption.”

The Prophet said, “When they revive my Sunnah, Allah will revive them with reward of 70 martyrs or 100 martyrs. “

Sometimes people die because someone killed them, they will be shaheed, Allah will reward them to be with the Prophet (s) on Judgment Day.

They will be with nabiyeen, siddiqeen, shuhada was-saliheen.

Now to revive the Sunnah of the Prophet (s) it shows we really love the Prophet (s).

And now we as individuals we are trying to revive small Sunnahs. That is good, when we come to pray we try to look Muslim.

It is said, “al-ama’imu tjiaan al-`arab - The turbans are crowns of the Arabs,” it means the believers. “Who put it down, Allah put him down. Wa man `aazaha `aazahullah - who respected the Sunnah, Allah will raise him.”

Forget about dunya, Allah will dress you in Judgment Day when everyone is under the burning sun. The Prophet (s) said, “Allah will bring down the sun until it is over the heads of people.”

People today open the air conditioning, because it is hot. It is 40 degrees centigrade, they say, “put the air conditioning on.” What kind of air conditioning are you going put there? It must be heavenly air conditioning. You cannot. The sun is over the heads of people. When the Prophet (s) explained it, he said the brains of people will be boiling.

The Prophet said, “Whoever raised my Sunnah, my crown up, Allah will raise him.” It means that Allah will give you heavenly air conditioning that will give you a breath like what was given to Sayyidina Ibrahim

Ya naar, O fire, koonee bardan wa salaama `ala Ibrahim - be cool and peaceful on Ibrahim.” Instead of fire we are going to be inside of Resurrection Day, one day. I don’t know how we are going to face our Lord, with what.

Today if we put our turbans and go to shopping mall they look at us strange. Not in the west. Ok in the west they don’t understand the turban or not, they think it is Halloween. But in the Muslim countries, you put a turban on and walk on the streets they say, “demodé, old-fashioned. What is this, disgusting?”

Here in the west you put the turban, the converts will look at you with respect.

Or they have hats on their head. Go to a Muslim country and enter a mosque, I am not saying in the Far East, the Middle East. Rarely you see someone with a hat even. It is demodé, it is old-fashioned. It is strange. In the west they respect you wearing the turban. And in the east, Middle East they are disgusted when you wear the turban.

You [addressing sahib] had that experience?

And Prophet (s) said, man ahya sunnatee faqad ahabanee - Whoever revives my Sunnah loves me.” Why are they afraid to wear turbans and hats. Then they cannot go to disco at night. Then it is like acting, you put one time, take off the other time.

O Muslim, let us love our Prophet (s) by action. Not by words.

In kuntum tuhiboona-Allaha fatabi`oonee yuhbibkumullah.

We are not stress this because, “If you really love Allah you follow Muhammad, Allah will love you.” [3:31] Allah is stressing that in Holy Qur'an. What did Ibn Mas`ud say?

Imam Ahmad in his Musnad on the ayah of in kuntum tuhiboon Allah fatabi`oonee, what he said in explanation of this ayah.

Inna Allah nadhar ila quloob al-`ibaad fa wajad qalbi Muhammadin afdal qalbin, Allah looked at the hearts of His creation, one by one, and He knew by His ancient pre-eternal knowledge that there is one heart that is the best of hearts; there is a heart that he is perfect.

Fa nazhar fee quloob il-`ibaad. The heart of the Prophet (s) was the one that was perfected so astafaa - He chose him and raised him. Fastafahu li nafsihi. And He shared the Ummah, the whole creations. Fastafaahu wa ba`thahu bi-risalatihi. Thumma nazhar ila quloob al-`ibaad fa wajad quloob ashabihi khayr al-quloob. He looked again and found the hearts of the Companions the best of hearts fa ja`alahum wuzara’i nabiyyihim  - He made them viziers, councilors, to His prophet (s).[1]

Fa ma ra’ahuu Muslimoon hasanan fa-huwa `inda-Allahi hasan wa ma ra’ahu’l-Muslimoon qabeehun fa-huwa `ind-Allahu qabeehun.[2]

What the Muslims see good is good in Allah’s presence and what they see bad is in Allah’s eyes bad. Whatever the majority see as bad, it is to Allah bad.

O Muslims, the most important is to have love to Sayyidina Muhammad. The Bedouin said, O Muhammad, when is Judgment Day. The Prophet said, “What have you prepared for it?” And he said, “Your love.”

And you, O followers of Grandshaykh and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, you are showing your love to Sayyidina Muhammad (s). From the outside. When the outside is good, slowly the inside will become good. Even though the Prophet (s) said,

When you put it outside then the inside will begin to change. As it is not easy to put a turban.

May Allah swt with the baraka of these converts that Allah will forgive us on the Judgment Day. With the baraka of Sayyidina Muhammad that Allah will forgive us. With baraka of awliyaullah especially Grandshaykh Abdullah al-Faiz Daghestani and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim that Allah will forgive us.

[1] Another riwayah:

[2] Another riwayah:

and
