Your Shaykh Will Be Weaving Your Carpet

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

25 December 2016 Fenton Zawiya, Michigan

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbi ‘l-`Aalameen wa ‘s-salaatu wa ‘s-salaamu `ala ashrafi ‘l-Mursaleen Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. Alhamdulillahi ‘lladhee ja`alana min al-muslimeen, alhamdulillah `alaa hidaayatihi lana ila ‘t-tareeq al-mustaqeem. Wa nashhadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wahdahu laa shareeka lah wa laa matheela lah fee `uluwwi shaa’nihi wa `azheemi sultaanih wa nashhadu anna sayyidana wa mawlana Muhammad `abduhu wa habeebuhu wa rasooluhu.

Dear brothers and sisters, wherever you are. This is a meeting among thousands and millions of meetings around the world in which people sit and remember what is needed to remember; it may be the life of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and the Sahaabah (r), while others sit and remember their earthly pleasures. However, if we want to be with Prophet (s) we have to remember our heavenly treasures that Allah granted Muslims and mu’mins, which are so many! Earthly treasures are going to disappear one day, but heavenly treasures are not going to disappear, they will only increase.

Narju ‘Llah `azza wa jall, we ask, “Yaa Rabbee! Write us to be from the people who are winning over their shaytan!” One person came to his shaykh after spending many years with him, 25 or 27 years. Some shaykhs have students for 50, 60, 70, 80 years, it depends how much life Allah gives. Imam Nawawi (q) was very young when he died, Imam Suyuti (q) the same, many scholars and Awliya the same, and to many others Allah gave longer life. Whatever Allah gives you take it, you cannot say no.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ

For Allah is He Who gives (all) Sustenance, Lord of Power, Steadfast (for ever).

(Surat adh-Dhariyaat, 51:58)

Allah is The One Who gives your rizq, it is not you getting it. When Allah opens He opens and when He closes He closes, but our duty is to keep asking, “Yaa Rabbee! Open for us Abwaab ar-Rizq, the Doors of Provision, min ad-dunya wa’l-Akhirah, from dunya and Akhirah.” Is there rizq in Akhirah? Of course, rizq never ends! Allah (swt) called Himself ‘Ar-Razzaq,’ He is always The One That Provides and gives in every moment, it will not stop. We are asking, “Yaa Rabbee! Give us from Your Ocean that You gave Your Awliya and the Sahaabah (r) and Prophet (s)!”

We are helpless and we are sinners, what we need…. When you find something dirty on the carpet, you clean it. Previously you would clean it with your hand and now you will use a vacuum, which sucks the dirt completely and it disappears. Look at this carpet, how many different materials it is made of. Its value depends on the number of knots/threads per square inch it has. Some carpets are made with very big knots and have little value, some are made with very fine knots and have high value. Individuals are like that. Your shaykh weaves your carpet; he is weaving you clean with so many threads to show Allah’s Greatness in you.

I used to see Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, every day before he prayed Duha, after Ishraaq he slept, then he woke up for the day and first he looked in the mirror, to see what? To see what Allah (swt) gave him. Then he said, Allahumma hassin khuluqee kamaa hassanta khalqee, “O Allah! Perfect my character and behavior as You perfected my appearance.” This means everyone is different from the other and perfect in himself. Allah prohibited people to change their appearance, from the Signs of the Last Days:

وَتَرَكَ النِّسَاءُ الْمَيَازِرَ , وَتَشَبَّهْنَ بِالرِّجَالِ , وَتَشَبَّهَ الرِّجَالُ بِالنِّسَاءِ

Women will no longer wear skirts, they imitate men and men imitate women.

(Ibn al-Munadi and Kanz al-`Ummaal 39709)

“Women will imitate men and men will imitate women.” We see this everywhere now, people spending time in the mirror thinking they are perfecting their image, but in reality the image reflects all kinds of imperfection and the wild animal within us, and the bad desires. So in order to cover those bad desires, men and women put all kinds of makeup. Men today pierce their ears, wear big rings, for what? This is from what Prophet (s) mentioned of Signs of the Last Days.

Grandshaykh (q) looked in the mirror and said, Allahumma hassin khuluqee kama hassanta khalqee, “O Allah perfect my manners and character as You have perfected my appearance,” so Allah doesn’t like people to use Botox, something not necessary to look younger, what for? After they become fifty or sixty years old, why do men and women want to change their appearance? So we ask Allah (swt), “Yaa Rabbee! Perfect our manners and character as You have perfected our appearance.” You have to be happy with what Allah gave you of eyes, ears, nose and thank Him, say “shukr lillah.” You are woven from many threads and when you put them together you have a nice carpet; Allah gave you many, many different reflections on your face to become a nicer person in His Creation and His Creation is perfect, but you have to thank Allah (swt) for it.

It is said, and we observed it in many places, that some of the followers of Awliyaullah who are always at the feet of their shuyookh and do their awraad begin to resemble the appearance of the shaykh as his reflection appears on the mureed, then the mureed will be perfected. Alhamdulillah, we have strong Awliya that have reflected on us to feel happiness within our hearts, and all of us here feel that happiness when we remember our shaykh, Sayyidee Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani (q).

So when there is dirt on the carpet, someone said use a napkin to clean it and someone else said to shampoo it, but the reality is neither of those, that is a primitive way; the modern way is the vacuum cleaner that has shampoo and napkins built in! These explanations are important; they are cleansing us from our dirtiness to remember Allah’s Greatness. Allah (swt) created something to clean ourselves with, as the Prophet (s) said:

كلمتان خفيفتان على اللسان ثقيلتان فى الميزان حبيبتان إلى الرحمن سبحان الله و بحمده سبحان الله العظيم

There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

“Two words that are very light on the tongue (easy to say) and very heavy on the Scale.” It cleans the sins, it sucks them away and will not leave any sins on you when you recite that, which is the magic, heavenly way of erasing sins! Today you need a bigger vacuum cleaner, and for more dirt you need huge, industrial sized vacuum cleaners like they use to clean tunnels when excavating and crushing the stones, then behind it a huge vacuum swallows the debris in order to keep everything clean.

So you might say, “Why are you talking about this, what kind of lecture is this?” but it has something in it that makes everything miraculous and makes us to understand Allah’s Greatness. Every hasanat, good deed, Allah takes it by angels directly to Paradise, but every sin, sayyi’ah you commit Allah (swt) suspends it between Earth and Heavens; it doesn’t go to Heaven, it creates pollution between Earth and Heavens. Sins of everyone around the world are stopped between Earth and Heaven and when the `abd repents, what happens?

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ

(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. So verily I call to witness the revolving stars, the planets that run their course and disappear. (Surat at-Takweer, 81:14-16)

Falaa uqsimu bi ‘l-khunnas al-jawaari ‘l-kunnas, it is a great oath from Allah. They found recently and it was published everywhere, that wherever there is pollution in our universe, there is a heavenly machine bigger than our galaxy, so big that it could eat all the galaxies, and we are inside it, and it cleans the whole universe from the pollution of our sins. NASA found it recently, they didn’t understand what it is. It sucks the bad energy out, as Allah doesn’t want the bad energy to go to Paradise. As soon as you say, “astaghfirullah,” that machine will come wherever you said it, in a group of people sitting and listening, and it sucks every dirty `amal from us and presents us with good `amal. Allah (swt) wants His servants to be rescued and in this way we are rescued!

Allah (swt) showed His Greatness when He said in Holy Qur’an:

سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

In time We will make them fully understand Our Messages in the utmost horizons and within themselves, so that it will become clear to them that this Revelation is, indeed, the truth. Is it not enough for them to know that your Sustainer is witness to everything? (Surah Fussilat, 41:53)

“We are going to show them Our Signs up to the horizon,” means, “Yaa Muhammad (s)! I am opening that kind of knowledge for the people who will come in the End Times of the Last Days, I will show them My Signs.” Forty years ago, Grandshaykh (q) said that Allah (swt) gave the people and the Earth the minds to bring technology up. He said, “With technology, you sleep one day and when you wake up you will find something else faster,” and this is what we are seeing. He said Allah ordered the Earth to give its power and technology is from that. The area we are in, the planet that we are on. between the Sun, Moon and other planets, Allah (swt) ordered the Earth to give all its power. Grandshaykh said, “At that time, you will see technology covering the whole Earth.” It is moving so fast, every year there is a new technology and this is one of the Signs of the Last Days.

So Allah created that Heavenly Machine to take our sins and keep us clean. We ask Allah (swt) to forgive us and bless us. Falaa uqsimu bi ‘l-khunnas al-jawaari ‘l-kunnas. The ‘khunnas’ is the machine and ‘kunnas’ is the angels that will clean the waste that comes out if it. So there are ‘sweepers’ in the universe that see us, although we cannot see them. May Allah (swt) forgive us and take all of our sins and keep us together in Akhirah. Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

That mureed who was very faithful to the shaykh for 25 or 27 years, doing everything the shaykh asked him to do, finally, for a certain reason, became frustrated and depressed, and said to himself, “I spent all these years with my shaykh and am not seeing. I have friends from another Tariqah who are advancing and their veils are being taken, they are seeing and having visions, and even from the same Tariqah, but I am not seeing anything! So why I am I spending my time with my shaykh? I have to go speak with him!”

He went and said, “Yaa Sayyidee, forgive me, but I have been with you 25 years and I hear your lectures, but I don’t see visions like my other friends. I don’t see anything.”

The shaykh said, “Yaa waladee, they advanced in a short time more than you because you see yourself as better than everyone. This arrogance in you is delaying you from reaching your Amaanah, heavenly Trust. So you have to abandon your self (ego) completely and keep only the love of Allah (swt) and Prophet (s) and your shaykh in your heart, and do your awraad, and then you will advance, but don’t think it is because you are clever or the shaykh will stop you.”

So he said, “What do I have to do now?”

The shaykh said, “That is very simple: you have to smash arrogance and the only way to smash it is not only to complete your awraad, you also have to do it physically. Whatever your shaykh tells you to do you must do.”

He said, “Okay!”

The shaykh said, “Go buy a basket, fill it with walnuts and sit by the entrance of the masjid. Ask everyone who comes in if they want walnuts, and if they say yes then tell them to hit you on your head with your shoe and tell you, ‘Don’t be arrogant, don’t be proud of yourself.’ If a second one comes and wants two walnuts, give him both shoes and tell him to hit you on your head. When the walnuts are finished, come to me as there is another assignment. ”

He said, “Yaa Sayyidee, I cannot do the first assignment, so what second assignment? I don’t want your Tariqah, I don’t want anything to do with you, I am running on my own!”

He left and he lost. We don’t want to lose; therefore, even if the shaykh orders you to do something very difficult you must do it, at least begin it and if you are not successful they will complete it on your behalf, but you have to show them you are willing to do it. May Allah always keep us following Sayyidina Muhammad (s); just as the Sahaabah (r) gave their lives for him, may Allah (swt) guide us on the Right Way and to give ourselves for the love of Humanity, love of Creation, love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and love of Awliya!

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

[May Allah keep us with you!] Inshaa-Allah all together in the presence of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), in the presence of Prophet (s).
