Why it is Difficult for Muslims to Get Married These Days

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

30 April 2013 London, UK

Suhbah at Private Residence

(Suhbah in progress.) ...and all the children were not running after bad desires and my uncle’s children got married and they had a nice life. Today you find even when the best ones get married, after a while they are fighting each other because today the devils are coming and penetrating the whole world.

Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said that because of too much fitna Prophet (s) used to send Sayyidina `Ali (a) to fight the jinn. Don’t you hear Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) say in his suhbahs, “Shah Mardan, Shah Mardan or Shaykh Mardan”? Because Sayyidina `Ali (a) used to...how do we know?

Sayyida Fatimah (r) came to Prophet (s) and said, “O my father! I am not complaining, but my husband goes two to three days and I don’t know where he goes.”

He (s) said, “Yaa Fatimah! I send him for special missions beyond this Earth because there is one taaifa, one group of `afareet, maradat al-jinn, those are...”

You know the jinn are like human beings, they marry and they have children, but maradat al-jinn, `afareet don’t marry. The jinn marry, have children and die, but the `afareet are with Iblees all the time and they are a different kind of Creation.

Prophet (s) said, “They are after human beings completely." Jinn are not after human beings; when these people come and say, “I have sihr, I have sihr (black magic),” they don’t know what they are speaking about. Sihr is not from jinn, it is from maradat al-`afareet, devils that are with Iblees. That’s where they can do sihr, but jinn don’t do sihr, they have no permission to do sihr, so they are mistaken and too many people think that jinn are doing sihr, and this is to clarify that point.

Grandshaykh (q) said in the time of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), Prophet (s) saw the destruction that these `afareet are going to do and so he sent `Ali (a) to fight them, and he said that `Ali took two-thirds of their power, then Prophet (s) blew on them and put them between Earth and this universe (in the atmosphere) so they could not come on Earth. Grandshaykh `AbdAllah, may Allah bless his soul, said this story from forty years ago, when they were finally able to find a way through to Earth in a black hole, then they came on Earth and now their zhulm is affecting people. Since forty years ago they were able to come on Earth and if they come completely, this Earth will be in big miseries!

That’s why awliyaullah are waiting for Mahdi (a), to stop that or else there will be too much misery on Earth and awliyaullah are trying their best to throw this away and postpone it and postpone it and postpone it, but in the end it is going to happen. So because of these devils, this is what you are seeing between people. Boys say, “Mum, you say this girl is good or else if you don’t find someone, I will find someone!” or, “I don’t like this one, I like that one,” or, “I like this one, I don’t like that one.” Boys and girls come to me asking about the same problem! Every day I get twelve questions on the same problems: different stories between wives and husbands, between children and parents, if the parents are okay you might find a problem among their children, that they are gangsters, terrorists, or they use marijuana, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, all because of these devils!

To protect yourself, you have to recite 300 times a day “astaghfirullah,” that Allah protects you from them, and 100 times “yaa Hafizh.” That is why in Salaat al-Wudu before Fajr you must recite facing qiblah, 100 times “yaa Haleem” and 100 times “yaa Hafizh.” Recitation of Yaa Halim will make you patient and control your anger, because as soon as you get angry these devils will come, when you get angry you come against your mother, against your father, against your friends, against anything that happens, so try to be patient. Recitation of Yaa Hafizh is to protect you from afaat as-samaawaati wa ‘l-ard, “afflictions of the universe and Earth.”

So inshaa-Allah that is the problem and you can’t give advice now because everything is too liberal. You tell your son, “This girl is good,” and he says, “No.” You tell your daughter, “This boy is good,” and she says, “No, I need to know him first, I need to love him!” Where are you going to know him, where are you going to love him except either on the beach or in the movie theater or in the university?

[Now the girls are looking for university degrees, not good character.]

Degrees...this is one of the problems! I don’t want to say it, but when the child has liberty to go out and be independent, then they start hearing, “You don’t need your husband, you don’t need his money, you have to show him that you are better than him.” That is also creating fitna between both sides. Some people study business administration or business, some people don’t know anything and make more money than people who studied business! So, what to say? Inshaa-Allah, Allah will send His mercy to everyone and bring everyone back to normal, to know that life is not what they are thinking about night life, discos and this or that. One day you leave all this behind, so what is the benefit?

So 100 raahibs, secularists, came to Sayyidina `Ali (a) and they asked him questions to prove there is no Creator. They were not satisfied, so he took them to the shore and said, “SubhaanAllah, I see a ship sailing with no captain; there is no one on board, it is sailing by itself!”

They said, “Yaa `Ali! How can you say this? You are a wise man, how can you say that it can sail by itself?”

He said, “No, it can sail by itself! You don’t believe me? Wait until the boat comes to shore.”

Then when the boat reached the shore, out of the boat come a captain and two crewmen. They said, “What’s that, yaa `Ali, we said to you it needs a captain and assistants!”

He said, “SubhaanAllah, how much stupid you are! For this boat it needs a captain and two crew, but for this universe you are not accepting one person, one Creator?”

They said, “Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa-Llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadu ‘r-Rasoolullah.”

We say, O Allah (swt) guide us to the Right Way, guide our children to the Right Way! Allah forgive everyone.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
