Yaa ayyuhal Muzzammil, qumil-layl illa qaleela. Yaa ayyuhal Muddathir. Allah (swt) is speaking to His Prophet, “Wake up, ” Allah is waking him up. What honor that He created to Prophet (s). If you try to count the ni`mah Allah has given you, you cannot. He said, “wa in taoodoo ni`matullah, (ni`mah is singular), laa tahsooha (now it’s plural)”. Tahsooha and ha is for many.

He will bless everyone in a different way, not all of us are like a photocopy machine. He said, “Everyone will be dressed differently and all of that will be added together and you will share with everyone and they share with you.” Accordingly, he might have on him ten ni`mah, you might have a hundred ni`mah, that one might have a million ni`mah. All of that will be added, accumulated in every moment of your association of dhikrullah and it will not dress you with only one, but with infinite ones. May Allah dress us with that and that is the biggest ni`mah.

That is why, “Praise be to Allah (swt) that He favored you from Endless Favors,” Allah said it in the singular, “This is the `Azhamat al-Qur’an,” He said it in singular and it was plural. Taoodoo ni`matullah. If you count ni`matullah, laa tahsooha, you cannot count it because you are a weak servant. You can count one, two, three, but Allah is sending to you without account, laa tahsooha. You cannot know what Allah will give. May Allah give us from His ni`mah.

Bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

In the time of Grandshaykh Sharafuddin (q), there was a majdhoob, one whose heart is with Allah (swt) always doing dhikr “Allah, Allah, Allah.” Whenever he saw Shaykh Sharafuddin sitting with an association, he came and disturbed their meetings.

As soon as Shaykh Sharafuddin saw him entering through the door, he said, “Did you do your wazifa I gave to you?”

He said, “Yes, I finished.”

“Okay, I’m giving you more wazifa: go and make salawaat on Prophet one million times.”

That majdhoob went away for five minutes, came back and said, “I finished.”

In his understanding he finished. In the eyes of `ulama one million is not finished in five minutes.

There were some `ulama sitting there. They looked at Shaykh Sharafuddin saying, “What is this?”

He looked at him and said, “How did you do the one million?”

He said, “It’s so easy. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad, ” running his fingers over the entire tasbeeh, counting two hundred in a moment. “Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad.” In half-an-hour he finished one million.

Shaykh Sharafuddin said, “You are majdhoob. Allah gave to you that power. You are under it, ” because he believed in what Allah gave. He could not count it, but Allah gave him that through his shaykh. “Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad. Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad,” passing two hundred salawaat in one second.

This is ni`mah, Allah gave you that. Stay connected. Millions and millions of ni`mah will come to you, but they say, “Stay connected.” He is not addressing one person, he is addressing millions and all of them are connected in one moment. This is a dunya invention. What do you think about Akhirah when Allah says, “Stay connected”? W’atasimmo bi hablillaahi jamiyy`an. All of you stay connected to Allah’s rope.

وَاعْتَصِمُواْ بِحَبْلِ اللّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلاَ تَفَرَّقُواْ

Hold fast to Allah's rope and do not separate. (Surat Aali-`Imraan, 3:103)

It means millions of Muslims around the world are connected spiritually. All of them recite salawaat on Prophet and all of them pray. If you try to count all of them, you cannot, but Allah can. One heavenly power given to a mu`min can connect the whole dunya together. That is Awliyaullah. May Allah keep us all on the threshold. That is enough suhbah.

Bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.

[Someone asks, “Mawlana, Can we also recite tasbeeh that way?]

Sit in your corner, cover yourself with a white sheet, or even when you are cooking, and make dhikr like that. You will be connected and everyone who eats will be connected, because “Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem” has been read on that food, no problem. Any food you give people, even a grain of rice is going to be connected with Heavens because this is Allah’s ni`mah.
