Zhuhr Suhbah
As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een. Allahumma thabitna `ala al-Haqq! Allahumma thabitna `ala al-Haqq! Allahumma thabithum `ala al-Haqq! Anta ‘l-Haqq, yaa Allah, wa kullu shay’in ghayruka baatil. Fa afid ‘alayna min hadha ‘l-Haqq min sirri haqq, haqqak yaa Rabbee, yaa Allah! Laa ilaaha illa-Lllah al-aqq al-Mubeen.
Alhamdulillah that Allah (swt) made us to be together; I don't say that Allah has made us united yet, because everyone is allowing some gossips in his mind, this or that dunya issue, this person has that difficulty in his life disturbing people in general and mureeds. Everyone has his own way which he is the perfect way.
We don't know how much our shuyookh have faced of difficulties. Awliyaullah face difficulties, prophets faced difficulties, no one is out of that. What we are doing, we are like fish trying to come out of the sea, like salmon that swim upstream. They know they are going to die up there, because they are struggling; if they surrender they will be okay, if they don't surrender their problems will increase. We all have to be careful, because Shaytan is bi ‘l-mirsaad, waiting for a single mistake to catch you, me, others, shuyookh and everyone. Shaytan thought he was able to catch Prophet (s), but Prophet is the Best of Creation so he was not able. Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, Allah gave the power to Sayyidina Muhammad (s) to ride his Shaytan, who tried to come and get from Prophet (s).
Shaytan will show everything you are doing is clean and perfect, and that the rest are wrong; he will show you Akhirah is Hellfire and dunya is Paradise, but it is to the contrary. That is why Prophet (s) warned all of us that in the time Maasih ad-Dajjal, “What he shows as good is bad, don’t follow it, and what he shows as bad is good, follow it!” According to the Hadith of Prophet (s), Dajjal can even bring your dead parents in front of you, show you their image and you will think they are alive and they will speak with you for that time, so we have to be very careful.
What did Sayyidina Adam (a) do? He ate from the tree, because he never believed that a sin would be committed in Heaven or that Shaytan will play with his mind in Heaven. Even in Heavens, Shaytan was able to enter and play with his mind; even if you have all dunya pleasure, still Shaytan will come and play with you to disturb you and the one behind you, so we have to be very careful.
For Shaykh to Follow the Mureed’s Wishes Will Result in Disaster
[Quoted from book] “If the shaykh will go under what the mureed is asking him, to give what the mureed likes, even if it is not correct, if the shaykh will allow that then make janazah prayer on the shaykh and yourself and the followers.”
The shaykh cannot go under the power of the mureed. Don’t disturb yourself and don’t disturb the others. If the shaykh goes under what the mureed asks him and follows his wishes and tries to fix the situation, it will become a disaster on the shaykh, on the mureed, and those who are around him. That is why we have to be very careful.
This message is not only for these people here, for us only, it is for everyone listening to or seeing us. Don't let Shaytan whisper in your ears to fulfill his ways! Don’t follow the way of Shaytan or let him lead you to reach that level. You are not going to achieve anything, so be happy with whatever situation Allah has put you in: you don't know, it might be a test that Allah (swt) wants you to struggle in His Love, not to come against that in your life, not to say, “I don't like this, we have to fix this, we have to do that, we have to do this.” Try to work with the shaykh as a partner. No, the shaykh knows more than everyone: about yourself, about himself, about every mureed. Awliya know! Don't push them to the limits or all your life will go upside down! You extended your hand, you took baya`, so if you have a problem try to solve it with the shaykh.
Alhamdulillah, Allah did not leave this dunya without pious people, as it is said in Tafseer Surat al-`Araf, there are 124,000 saints standing on the threshold of 124,000 prophets. There are Awliya about whom Prophet (s) said, “If you are in a forest and night came and you can not get back home, and you begin to feel afraid, call on Awliya, Rijaal-Allah.” Call on the `Abdaal, the Substitutes, and there are forty of them, mainly from Sham, Madinah and Mecca. They help as soon as they are called, so call on them! These Awliyaullah are in five groups: Budala, Nujaba, Nuqaba, Awtaad wa Akhyaar. They are the best of the Ummah; they will guide the Ummah and they will guide you. Don't depend on yourself because you will not succeed, you will lose yourself, your family, your children, your friends, your brothers, your sisters. You will lose everything and Shaytan will be sitting, laughing at you, and happily watching.
Sayyidina Abu Yazid al-Bistami (q) was holding the chain of the Ka`bah, on the Door of Ka`bah is a chain, he was holding it and said, “Yaa Rabbee! Give me permission and I will stop Iblees from following and attacking the hearts of Your Ummat an-Nabi (s).” He attacks you in your heart: be sure you are not attacked by Shaytan or that will make everything for you in dunya and Akhirah as if it is nothing. Don’t trust Shaytan and don't mistrust your shaykh or the one whom you think can guide you. Shaytan cannot guide in any dunya matter, just as you and your mind cannot guide you or you will fall, but alhamdulillah, we have strong shuyookh around us that protect their followers from that, Allah will keep them protected.
That is why Grandshaykh (q) said, “Don't make me go according to the wishes of my mureeds.” The shaykh sometimes has a weakness, he is not a Nabi, ma`soom, infallible. Also the Sahaabah (r) were not ma`soom, we cannot say that, but at times there was misunderstanding among them. The shaykh has problems, so don't put him in a situation that what you ask he must give you or he will fall and you will fall! This happens all around the world. It is a test for both mureeds and the shaykh. For mureeds it is a test of how patient they can be. Shaytan will whisper in their ears, as Prophet (s) said everyone has a shaytan in him that is waiting to give you the wrong information, instructing you to “Do this, do that,” and it will become a problem for you, your family and your children.
We are waiting for the appearance, inshaa-Allah, of Imam Mahdi (a) to bring peace. You don't want to stand in front of Imam Mahdi (a) crying, remembering what happened to you throughout your life. All of us have problems, but Prophet (s) had the most problems and what did he say? “If they put the Sun in my right hand and Moon in my left hand (i.e., the world), I will not give up that Message (wahiyy).”
These are the ten days of rahmah; you have ten days from the beginning of Ramadan in which there is a tajalli of rahmah over everyone, not distinguishing between anyone: Allah gives that rahmah over the whole Ummah as they began the month of fasting.
الصوم لي وانا اُجزي به
Fasting is for Me and I will reward it. (Bukhari, Muslim)
That is the Holy Hadith of the Prophet (s) in which Allah said to him, “Fasting is for Me and for that I will reward your Ummah, yaa Muhammad!” We are honored to be included in that judgement, that Allah will honor us for our fasting with what He wants. Don't let yourself fall into the trap of Shaytan! This reminder is not for a specific person, but for all people. Just now when I was praying, it came to my heart from Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q), “Clarify it for them.” All Awliya around the world are preparing their followers, paving the road for them to know the Reality. I cannot clarify everything because you cannot tolerate it, so don’t ask, “Why is this happening?” There is a wisdom in it. If you submit and surrender to that wisdom, and not be like the salmon struggling to go all the way upstream against the flow, thinking something will be there. What will you find? Failure!
It cannot reach there safely, it goes there through all dunya problems. We are going up like fish to the highest level of the mountain and instead of dying in the ocean, you are dying on the top of the mountain, which is the most difficult position to die in! You are reaching the top and when they open a test for you or anyone, at that moment if you struggle in that test and move closer and closer, even with all the difficulty you are facing, it will open to you.
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
With difficulty comes ease. (Surat al-Inshirah, 94:6)
With difficulties there is yusur, relief. Maybe you are reaching so near your relief, so near to attaining what you are wishing to get, and then you don’t step forward, rather, you step back and you roll like a snowball down to the lower level of the mountain. Don’t let Shaytan inspire you make wrong decisions when you reached the end of the test! It might badly affect you all your life, including your career. Allah granted some people wahban, a heavenly grant you didn’t even ask for, or the opposite, kasban, to work hard for something. Both of them are good. One person has been given wahban by Allah (swt) without looking if His `abd is struggling, He gives without the `abd asking. The other, kasban, is to struggle in order to have your Amaanah. So don't lose what Allah gave you, whether you are from the wahban group or kasban, as they both meet at the end. The easiest is wahban, which Allah gave Ummat an-Nabi (s); without us asking, He gave them maghfirah, Akhirah, and rizq. Don't doubt what Allah is giving you of rizq; even if you lose it, they will bring you back.
Not every time is tislam il jarrah min al-kasr, you cannot always save yourself from breaking down, but if you let Shaytan break you down, so many difficult things will follow.
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُم مِّن رِّزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَن يُطْعِمُونِ
I have only created jinn and men so that they may worship Me. No sustenance do I require of them, nor do I require they should feed Me. (Surat adh-Dhariyat, 51:56-57)
Don’t think about your rizq: it will come to you, Many are granted their rizq by Allah, which comes to them through easy ways, as Allah said:
وَأَلَّوِ اسْتَقَامُوا عَلَى الطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَاهُم مَّاء غَدَقًا
If they had (only) remained on the (Right) Way, We would have bestowed on them rain in abundance.(Surat al-Jinn, 72:16)
At-Tareeq is “the way.” Allah mentioned to be stable and straightforward on the way of Allah (swt), so don't let Shaytan make you ask for rizq, and don’t argue with anyone about it nor run after it. Allah might send you from the Unknown without you asking anything. Today someone was astonished when someone came to see me and said they wanted to support a project we are trying to launch. We were considering how to do it and subhaanAllah, that person came and said they will pay all the expenses. You don't know where it might come from, so leave your matter to Allah (swt), not to Shaytan; he might play with you at the beginning, then you will fall. You have to be careful to plant your feet where you are sure you can step securely.
25:14 wa anna lil-insaain ma tamanna. not everything you hope for you will get.
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَانِ مَا تَمَنَّى
Am lilinsani ma tamanna

Whatever will be given to you is written on the Lawh al-Mahfouzh. Allah created a certain group of angels to look after His servants’ needs in dunya. Not everything you want will come to you. A long time ago, a big `alim said, “You cannot make the vessel sail the way you like, it will sail as the wind takes it.” It might not go straightforward. If you are in the middle of the ocean and it is calm, for others in the middle of the ocean it might be wavy and they might drown. You cannot control the weather, leave it to Allah (swt). Even the most important people lose their iman when they think too much about their rizq.
كُلَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا زَكَرِيَّا الْمِحْرَابَ وَجَدَ عِندَهَا رِزْقًا ۖ قَالَ يَا مَرْيَمُ أَنَّىٰ لَكِ هَٰذَا ۖ قَالَتْ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ اللَّهِۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَرْزُقُ مَن يَشَاءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ
Whenever Zakariyya entered her niche, he found provision with her. He said, “O Maryam, from where do you have this?” She said, “It is from Allah.” Truly Allah provides whomever He wills with no account. (Surat Ali Imraan, 3:37)
Whenever Zakariyya (a) entered the mihrab of Maryam (a), he found provision and asked her, “From where did this come?” as she did not go out. It was coming to her in her mihrab where she prayed; Allah sent her two types of provision: spiritual and physical. Our struggle is against Shaytan, so we will raise up higher and higher. If Shaytan is stopped from attacking humans, then what are the rewards? Nothing, no rewards, because there is no Shaytan running after them. Allah's Wisdom is to create jinn to run after human beings, not believing jinn, but unbelieving jinn attack human beings. Allah made them like a scale; if you fight their whispers in your ears, Allah rewards you and you go up, up, up in levels, but if you don’t, then Shaytan will continue to attack you and you will believe him more than others. I am not saying this to you, I am saying it to myself as they are addressing me. I have my weaknesses, of course, every shaykh and human being has weaknesses, including `ulama, but their weakness is not because they want to do something wrong as they are protected by Allah, but as human beings they are affected.
I was once insulted very badly by someone and I came to Mawlana (q), may Allah bless his soul, complaining and he said, “No complaint, and don't say anything.” It was a situation which was really going to cross the red line, crossing all the limits and something wrong was going to come out of it. I said, “Mawlana this is the situation.” He told me, “I don’t want to hear it, it is not your business leave it alone” I left it and it solved itself. When Shaytan makes it a problem he will show it to you all decorated nicely “If you don't do this you will not get that and if you do this you will get that.” When you reach what they said then there is another horizon and from one horizon to another--it never ends! The way they show you is gold but in reality it is copper. It is a mirage. So what he said to save ourselves is tahammal al-`addaad, “to carry the load of everyone” of every obstacle. You say, “Yaa Rabb, I will carry what I am in, I will struggle with it.”
As Prophet (s) said, “If Allah (swt) loves someone who struggles in His Way He will give him a guide from within his heart.” So let that one in your heart guide you and the rest you will win. Tahammal al-`addaad, like when Allah asked Bayazid al-Bistami (q) to carry the load of people around him he said, “Yaa Rabb what shall I do?” and Allah said, “Make yourself a garbage dump for human beings.” Everyone puts their garbage in a plastic bag and throws it out.
So He said, “You have to carry that and to carry their garbage to reach Me.”
To love Allah is easy, ask anyone, “Do you love Allah?”
“Yes.”
“Do you love Prophet?”
“Yes.”
“Do you love Sahaabah?”
“Yes.”
“Do you love the people?”
“No.”
No, we have to be fair (honest). Allah is teaching, “Love those who hate you, then come to Me.” Carry their loads, even if they speak bad about you never mind, let them say whatever they say, but still carry their garbage. Awliya went into these problems, you did not see anything yet. All these associations around the world, drumming, singing and dancing are artificial; there is nothing coming out of it, it entertains you for five minutes and it’s gone. You want to be entertained by Allah (swt):
وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
And those who struggle in Our (Way), We will certainly guide them to our Paths for, verily, Allah is with those who do right. (Surat al-`Ankabut, 29:69)
“Those who struggle in Our Ways” means, “They don’t like the ways I put for them, they come against My ways that I gave them.” That’s why a Wali is different to a normal person as he accepts whatever Allah put on him and doesn’t struggle. There are Awliya, many men and women I know who, with Mawlana’s power, reached the level of climbing the mountain and were rewarded, then suddenly they had doubts when they saw it is very difficult to reach up, but still they approached, approached, when suddenly Shaytan came and whispered in their ears and they began to come down.
There will be as-sulhu lamha, peace comes in the blink of an eye, so don’t miss that opportunity! Catch it to reach peace with Allah (swt), with Prophet (s), and with Awliya. Of course, every one of us loves Allah (swt), but do you love your neighbor? No. “He put garbage at my door!”
For seven years, Prophet’s (s) neighbor throw garbage on his doorstep and he (s) never complained to anyone. In Tariqah, to reach is by something very subtle. What you reached in your work during your life, to do good for Tariqah, to listen to Awliyaullah, then comes a time you will be approved and given your Trust. Many Awliya lost that opportunity, they didn’t get their Trust in dunya, they died before getting it, it was delayed because of a mistake they made. Therefore, before being dressed with the secret of Tariqah they will send you a test, and it is not easy. From the beginning, you gave your life to Allah (swt), to Prophet (s), to Sahaabah (r), to Ahl al-Bayt, to Awliya, to angels, so be careful not to go astray or all that will be wasted!
That limit is very important. You have a watch that is ticking, you cannot bring back time. It is better to go forward with the time. What you lose when you reach the top of the mountain, about to receive your Trust, then they send you a test more difficult than any test in dunya to see if you can oppose it and break this obstacle to receive your Amaanah. Be strong on your test! Don't mix dunya work with Akhirah teachings as they don't coincide with each other. Mawlana (q) said, “Don't look at what others have, look at yourself or you might become envious of others.” You came with nothing and Allah gave you everything. You will never be able to count Allah's ni`mat, favors, it is impossible as they are endless!
وَإِن تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا
If you count Allah’s blessings you can never count all of them. (Surat al-Nahl, 16:18)
Allah said, “Don’t say, ‘I can fix it, I can do it.’” Allah will do it for you, so it is better to say, “Yaa Rabb, do it for me,” and He will. This is our weakness. That is why it is the most crucial favorable part of the test is when you are near and you get the big test, because they are entrusting you with it…. [video cut] I see people in the sea floating on their back, but how? Although they should be drowning, they float because gravity is not pulling them down towards dunya. Awliyaullah float in the Ocean of Qudrah, Power. There are many certified Awliya around the world, men and women, who float when they completely surrender to Allah and His Prophet (s). Some people I know reach the top level and they pass. That is the importance of Tariqah: to pass the test, then everything will open.
Allah does not want you for dunya, that is why la tazin `indallaahi janaha ba`ooda, dunya for them does not weigh the wing of a mosquito: the wing of the mosquito is more precious to Allah than all dunya.
لو كانت الدنيا تعدل عند الله جناح بعوضة ما سقى كافراً منها شربة ماء
If the value of this dunya weighed the wing of a mosquito, Allah would never give a cup of water for the unbelievers to drink. (Tirmidhi)
Allah created dunya and never looked at it, so what are we looking at? Awliyaullah don’t look at it and there are many around the world, men and women that reached the top of the mountain and passed the test and some of them are still struggling and inshaa-Allah they will also pass their test. We hope all of us will pass our test to reach what they want us to reach. Everyone reaches something that the other did not reach.
Is there jealousy in Paradise? There is! 45:50al-insaan yatamanna wa yujid hasad. There is hasad in Paradise. Shaytan, Iblees, has hasad toward Adam (a), which is why he tried to break him down. All of us have accumulated a lot of hasad in dunya and when we go to Akhirah, Allah will throw it in Hellfire:
وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا كَانَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّا
Not one of you but will pass over it: this is with your Lord a decree that must be accomplished.
(Surah Maryam, 19:71)
Allah said in the Holy Qur’an that every one of us will enter Hellfire if He judges us! What do Awliya say? Allah (swt) created a bridge over Hellfire, so if you cross it you will not fall, if you are ma`soom, but we are not ma`soom, only prophets are ma`soom; because of our hasad, we might fall, so Allah (swt) will save us with the shafa`ah of Prophet (s). Allah will delay Prophet (s) and His Ummah’s entry to Paradise, He will let all the others go first, either to Hellfire or Paradise, because He does not want them to know what rewards He will give Ummat an-Nabi (s), because even there is envy for good, not for bad. Allah knows best to whom He will give. May Allah give us from the level and the Paradise of Prophet (s)! That must be our target and our thinking day and night, about how we can reach Allah’s Nearness!
Allah al-Muqaddir wa ‘l-`alam shu`oon. Don't worry so much, surrender about your rizq, then Shaytan cannot come and take you away, because the only door he can enter is to make you doubt about your rizq, to wonder what are you going to do after five years, after ten years, this or that? He keeps you struggling, keeps your mind completely under his control and you cannot come out of it, then you lose your wife, your husband, your children, your family, everything! We are all like that, so make sure you put your foot securely where it has to be put, not to fall on the bridge right or left into Hellfire.
How to do that? By surrendering. That’s why it is said, “Don't be near the sultan, because his nearness is like fire and it will burn you.” What you see might not register in your mind, because you see the situation differently. The sultan has ways and you don’t know what is coming in the future or why the sultan said to keep peace in a certain country, because he oversees everyone, he knows what is going to happen and will guide his followers.
So today Mawlana (q), by his permission, gave us a speech from his love for us, in order that we not fall into the trap of Shaytan, and this advice is not just for these people sitting here, but for me first, because I am the weakest, I am the worst one among you, and for all of you (viewers). May Allah bless you, Pray for me, and all Allah's angels will pray for you and inshaa-Allah we will see you next time.
