Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q)

Remarks of Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

17 September 2014 Manchester, UK

Tribute at Royal Nawab Restaurant

Thank you very much. As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`ala wa barakaatuh. Ayyuha ’l-haflu ‘l-kareem yaa ahbaab al-nabiyy al-mustafa yaa ahbaab awliyaullah, as-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi ta`ala wa barakaatahu fi hadhihi ‘l-umsiya. Alhamdulillahi rabbi ‘l-`alameen wa ‘s-salaatu wa ’s-salaam `alaa ashrafi ‘l-mursaleen sayyidina wa nabiyyina muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa saahbihi ajma`een.

I would like to extend our thanks to all those who organized this event, which is incredible. For Mawlana Muhammad Imdad Pirzada to come here was adding miracles over miracles. Everyone that came here also today, tonight, it gives honor and nobility from them.

I was going to speak from this paper, but it will take one day! Before I will go through that, because the time is very short, I would like to say this to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q):

I dedicate this poem to the Perfect Man in this time: the Knower of Knowers, the Master of Saints and the Saint of Masters, my Beloved Shaykh, the Red Sulfur, the Rare Jewel, the Pearl for Every Heart, the Beacon of my Way, the Guide of my Life, the Sultan of Eternal Knowledge and External Knowledge in the Most Distinguished Naqshbandi Order, Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al-Haqqani (q)!

Through him I have been guided to this Sufi Path, which illuminated the Light of my heart, and through him thousands and thousands of people throughout the world have been guided to this Most Distinguished Naqshbandi Order! And to all those who worked hard to bring this event, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Yaa Mawlana, yaa Sayyidee, yaa Habeebee yaa Nooru `Aynee! He is the hope of all mureeds, he is the source of Light to us and the energy of Creation, the beacon for every seeker, the oasis in every desert, the waves in every ocean, the spring of every river, the crystal in every diamond! He is the jewel from Heaven on every leaf. He is the life of every drop of blood in animated beings, the motion behind every living servant, the driving force of constellations and galaxies. He is the stars, the Sun, the Moon in every firmament! The universe swims in his orbit. He is the super powers known by all traditions and beliefs and philosophies. May Allah (swt) grant us the love of Sayyidi Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani (q)!

Too many things I saw from him. Some people asked me to speak about some of his miracles, because to speak about his nobility and sainthood will never end, you can speak forever. He is the one whom we believe is al-lubna al-muqaabila bi lubnat al-Nabi (s), the brick that is facing the brick of Prophet (s): he is the mirror facing the mirror of Prophet (s) and through the mirror of Prophet (s) Allah (swt) reflected Creation to be seen!

This is something in spirituality, about which Sayyidina Muhyiddeen Ibn `Arabi (q) said, “Prophet (s) is the mirror of the Creation. When Allah wants to look at His Creation, He looks at the mirror of Muhammad (s), he looks at Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhi afdala ‘s-salaatu wa ‘s-salaam and the whole Creation appears.”

This is what Allah (swt) granted to His Prophet (s). Awliyaullah are mirrors, they reflect the light of the Sun, the light of Moons, the light of galaxies, the light of Heavens, the light of everything! My tongue is frozen, I cannot say too much on these issues, because these are hidden Sufi issues that you cannot speak about. Mawlana

Miracle of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in Jeddah

Mawlana Shaykh showed me many miracles. One was when I was in Jeddah as I used to live there. I called him in Cyprus and said, “Yaa Sayyidi. I’m going to Madinat al-Munawwarah tonight. Do you need anything from there?”

He said, no.

I said, “Are you sure? Whatever you need I will do.”

He said, “Kiss the threshold of Prophet (s),” the Muwajaha, the grill, kiss that threshold where the official police stand and don't allow people to touch, go and kiss it!

How was I going to kiss the threshold? I didn't say ‘no’, I didn't say ‘yes’, but in Adab al-Tariqat whatever the shaykh says, we must answer `alaa raasee wa ‘l-`ayn, “on my head (it’s my duty, my priority).” So I said, “On my head, yaa Sayyidi.”

I went driving at night, reaching by two in the morning, prayed Fajr in Haram an-Nabawi, and stood behind one of the pillars in the area of Muwwaajaha ash-Shareefah to not bother anyone and for no one to bother me. I was praying, making du`a there, facing Prophet (s), and the head of the police came to me, amr bi ‘l-ma`roof wa ‘n-nahi `an al-munkar, the head of them.

He said, to me, although I thought he was going to handcuff me but it didn't turn out like that, he said, “Come with me.”

I moved behind him and we reached the maqaam, the outside of the Holy Grave of Prophet (s) and he said, to me, “Kiss the threshold of Prophet (s).”

I was amazed. I went down on the threshold of Prophet (s) as if only I was there, no one else, everyone disappeared except that man. He sat at the top, at the entrance of Baab al-Salaam, they sit at the top near Baab al-Jibreel, the head of them.

And he said, to me, “Send my salaam to your shaykh, Shaykh Nazim.”

Anyone who looks at that one would think he is from the others (anyone in the crowd), but how he knew that my shaykh asked me to kiss the threshold of Prophet (s)? That man knew what kind of connection from heart to heart, min al-qalbi ila al-qalbi sabeela. He showed me, “I know him,” which means he is a wali sitting there. And he said, “Send salaam to him, and mabrouk for your kissing the threshold of Prophet (s)”

I left from Baab al-Jibreel, going a little bit slowly, and his son came running after me.

He said, “Take this Holy Qur’an from my father, he sending it with you to give to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q).”

Miracle of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim at the Old Ottoman Library

We are all mureeds of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and this is a story of what happened with me in the time of Mawlana Shaykh. Before they renovated the area facing Qibla in Madinat al-Munawwara, there was a maktaba there, a library from the time of the Ottomans, and at that time no one went there because it was closed. It has a locked iron door.

One day, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) was in Saudi Arabia and he said, to me and my brother, “Let’s go from the masjid, I want to take you with me.”

Where he is going to take us? We wanted to take him by car, but he said, “No, we will walk.” So we came out from Baab al-Jibreel and turned toward Qibla, where directly behind the wall with Asmaaullah al-Husna, Asmaa al-Rasool there was a library, Maktabat al-`Aarif, named for `Aarif Pasha, one of the Ottoman scholars.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) said, to me and my brother, “Today, by the order of Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q), I want you and your brother and me to pray two raka`ts there.”

As soon as he said, that, the lock opened, the door opened, we entered and Mawlana prayed two raka`ts as imam and we prayed behind him.

He said, “When we said, ‘Salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullah, salaam `alaykum wa rahmatullah’, a light appeared. and that was the symbol for Sayyidina Mahdi (a).’”

This happened to me in Madinat al-Munawwara.

Miracles of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and the Dead Chicks

There was a story of one staunch communist whose brother is Naqeeb al-Ashraaf in Lebanon, who is good, but the other one is communist. The Naqeeb al-Ashraaf told his brother, “Come, let’s go visit the shaykh.”

The brother said, “Shaykh? I don't believe in shaykhs. I am communist, don't speak with me about religion! I like to be free.”

That day he brought for his children some baby chicks that children play with, but all of them died. So he said, to his brother, “You are speaking about the shaykh? Okay, I will go with you and I will ask one question now. If he is a shaykh, let these chicks come back to life.”

They were thirteen chicks, and he told Mawlana Shaykh about it. We were sitting and he came to the Mawlana Shaykh, who said, to him, “Oh! How you are coming here and you are a communist?”

He said, “Yes, I am still a communist, but I have a question for you.”

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) said, “Don't ask me that ridiculous question, because all your chicks are alive, go and see.”

He went home, entered his kitchen, looked in the bucket and saw all the chicks were alive!

Miracle of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Being in Two Places Simultaneously

Allah (swt) gives to awliyaullah, but we don't know, we treat them like normal people. One time, the prime minister of Lebanon was going to Hajj with the mayor of Tripoli, Lebanon and they invited Shaykh Nazim to go with them. He was staying in our home, visiting

They told Mawlana, “Everything is arranged, come with us.”

Mawlana said, “No, I can’t, I have no permission.”

They said, “From whom do you want to take permission, you don't need permission! You are going with the prime minister on the private jet.”

Mawlana said, “No, my permission is from Prophet (s), not from anyone else. If he (s) gives me permission, I will come.”

He didn't go, he stayed at home. When the prime minister and the mayor came back, we went to tell them ‘mabrouk’, congratulation for the Hajj, and we took Mawlana Shaykh Nazim with us.

They said, “Oh Shaykh! You finally decided to be with us!”

We asked, “What happened?”

They said, “He was with us in Mecca and Madinah!”

And he was with us in Tripoli! He had accompanied them, appeared to them there and everyone saw him, and he never moved from our house! What kind of power Allah (swt) gave to awliyaullah? Not everything is by `ilm! Prophet (s) al-Nabiyyi ’l-Ummi.yyNo, by action, by `amal, by Husn al-Akhlaaq, besides your obligations. Mawlana Shaykh was following in the footsteps of Prophet (s) in the good manners. He went to Hajj; without physically moving his body from Lebanon, he was making Hajj there!

Miracle of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim on Hajj with His Khalifahs

One time, me and my brother were performing Hajj with him and it was a very hot day with no clouds, no shade, the temperature might be 50 degrees Centigrade. We were in tawaaf, we made one turn, second, third, and coming the fourth one, and we were pushing Mawlana to move because too many people were coming from left and right.

He said, “No!” He was by Baab al-Multazim. He stood by the door and said, “Yaa Rabbee! You are The Generous One! You are The One Who Gives to everyone! You are The One blessing very human being on Earth! Bless us with Your rain. We are by Your home, we are at Your Ka`bah! Bless us, send your rain on us for everyone to be blessed!”

He finished saying this and the cloud appeared and thunder that the whole Ka`bah, Mecca, was flooded by this water that was coming from rain!

Miracles at Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s Burial

That was like the last flood that happened in Ka`bah on 7 of May; do you recall that? Seventh of what, the day of what? Mawlana passed away. The whole world was raining, weeping from losing that shaykh, not only his miracles in dunya but his miracles in Akhirah!

I had the privilege, the honor, to wash him. to put the kafan on him, to pray on him Salaat al-Janaza, to go to his house and bury him in his masjid. We opened the grave, which was 4.5 meters long, and the body came and I was by the grave but not down in it, my sons were in it. And when I was carrying his body outside the grave the coffin was very heavy, but when it came to the grave the body was so light, like a feather! You didn’t even need two or three people to carry it, it was running by itself toward the grave! We took him and he was very light, one person can carry, and we put him down to bury him and what happened?

I looked at my son and said, “Do you see what I am seeing?”

He said, “Yes, what is that, my father?”

I said, “This is a miracle to show everyone, to report,” as the president and ministers were looking to see what a wali can do after his life in Akhirah.

His body went bigger, not in width but in length. His head was touching the wall and his legs touched the other end of the wall, which was 4.5 meters long. He was so long that he covered the whole grave! How many people I buried and I never saw that! That was one of his miracles after his death.

Miracle in 1971 of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim in Beirut Regarding Shaykh Hisham’s Father

One day in 1971, in Sha`baan and normally in Rajab and Sha`baan Mawlana Shaykh doesn't go to Beirut, he spends the three holy months in Cyprus to make dawah to people. But that day at five o’clock in the afternoon the telephone rang and he was on the line.

He said, “I am at the airport, come and pick me up.”

I said, “OK, but usually you don't come in these months.”

Mawlana Shaykh (q) said, “No, I'm coming.” So we picked him up and he said, “For the favors that you and your brother have done for me and your family, I am coming by order of Grandshaykh `AbdAllah (q) and by the order of Prophet (s) to do you a favor.”

We said, “Yaa Sayyidee, what is that favor?”

He said, “A favor that doesn't happen to anyone. I'm only doing it for you because I have been ordered.”

We said, “What is it?”

Mawlana said, “Your father is going to die at seven o'clock sharp,” and it was five o'clock, so after two hours. “Call your family to say farewell.”

What will people say? No one knows about `Ilm al-Ghayb as in tafseer, that is `ilm beyond Prophet (s) and Prophet knows everything in this universe, he knows everything about Creation! So it is not that kind of `Ilm al-Ghayb: what is mentioned of `Ilm al-Ghayb is something that completely belongs to Allah (swt), Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad, “Say, ‘He is The Absolute Unknown!’” That’s `Ilm al-Ghayb! Qaaba Qawsayni aw Adna, what is after qawsayn, that is is `Ilm al-Ghayb!

Mawlana (q) said, “He is going to die at seven o'clock.”

So we called our family, they came, but some of them they believe, some of them were shaking. At fifteen to seven (6:45), Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) begin to recite Surat Yasin.

We said, “Mawlana, he is good health, he is sitting.”

Mawlana said, “No, I know what I am doing.”

At seven o'clock sharp, Mawlana Shaykh passed his soul away and he died. When he died, you know when someone dies what happen? He was laying on the bed and he completely died; my brother checked him and he’s a doctor, and he confirmed our father was completely dead. Then as soon as Mawlana Shaykh was almost finished reciting Surah Yaseen and ready to recite the Ihda, my father sat up in the bed where he was and then lay down again.

Afterwards, we asked Mawlana Shaykh, “He was dead, so why did he sit up?”

Mawlana said, “Because the awliyaullah appeared.”

Awliyaullah can appear at any time and awliyaullah appeared then, so out of respect he had to stand up, but he sat. This is something I am sharing with you because people must know these things, how Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) lived his life beside the people and what they explain of their belief in him, of his greatness and so on, but there are sides of him that people never knew. This is Mawlana Shaykh Nazim!

Miracle of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim at London Heathrow

Something happened to me in London recently, three or four years ago. Someone from Saudi Arabia came to see his wife and to see me, and he came through the airport, took his luggage, put them in the car and the porter with him forgot his carry-on. That man left the airport and when he arrived to the house where he is staying, they opened the trunk, took out the luggage and the carry-on was not there, he had lost it. They called the airport ‘lost and found’, but there was nothing. They called again after two hours, after three hours, nothing.

So they picked me up, and we were going to see a property to buy for a masjid, and the Saudi man was not crying, but he was in a really bad position: his ID, passport, a watch, gifts, £5000 and exam papers he had to correct for high official people that he brought to England were all lost.

So I called one lady who works at the airport and said, “Please, can you go and check?”

She called after a while, half-an-hour, and said, “I checked everywhere and no way; if you lose a carry-on outside the airport, how you can find it?”

Still I was on the phone with that lady, and suddenly a man wearing red turban appeared and he had a stick twice as big as him, and he was huge. He came to the door of the car and I opened the window. He had the same turban, a similar turban like your turban, like my turban, but it was red.

He said, “I’m hungry! I'm hungry!”

I said, “We have a sandwich, should we give it to you?”

He said, “No! Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Nazim! Shaykh Hisham, Shaykh Hisham, Shaykh Hisham! I'm hungry! You are Shaykh Hisham?”

I said, “Yes.”

He said, “Shaykh Nazim?”

I said, “You.”

He said, “Money, money, I want money!”

So I took some money and gave it to him, and I said, “I need from you that carry-on bag.”

He said, “Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Nazim, Shaykh Nazim!” then he snatched the money from me and left!

I was still on the telephone with the lady, and she said, “Just now the carry-on arrived, just now we got it and I am holding it!”

So I told that guy who lost it, “You will lose the money, you will lose the watch, you will have only your ID, your passport and the exam papers, because all the rest are sadaqa now.”

That was exactly what they left for him in the carry-on! How that can happen, it’s impossible! that is, that is...I believe in this time there are no such awliyaullah that can get the hearts of people like that.

Naqshbandi Expansion in Indonesia is Because of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim

In 1997, I went to Indonesia under the name of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) and in ten years we had more than 2 million mureeds and 103 centers, all under the name of Shaykh Nazim. I'm not saying that other shuyookh don't have that, but we are speaking about our shaykh. In every corner around the world his name is known! When Allah loves an `abd, servant, He will make him known on every tongue!

May Allah (swt) forgive us. I like to say thank you for allowing me to speak; I was supposed to speak only 20 minutes, what happened? Thank you very much. Wa `alaykum as-salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
