Bring the Name of Prophet Up High

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

16 December 2016 Willowbrook, Illinois

Annual Milad an-Nabi Conference

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. I wish, and of course all of you wand every Wali, every scholar, every human being wishes to be under the feet of Prophet (s). Madad yaa Sayyiddee, yaa Rasoolullah, yaa Rahmatan li ’l-`Alameen! Alhamdulillahi Rabbi 'l-`Alameen, wa ’s-salaatu wa ’s-salaamu `alaa ashrafi 'l-mursaleena Sayyidina wa Nabiyyina Muhammadin wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een.

I just arrived from London yesterday and today I am here with you in this stormy weather, -20 Fahrenheit, which delayed this event. May Allah bless the organisers and all of you. I am not going to be too long, I will be very short. I want to say that this is a joyful, happy night to celebrate the birth of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), which is the birth of Islam.

The most important thing in our society and in Ahlu ’s-Sunnah wa ’l-Jama`ah is to strengthen our belief, to believe more about our Prophet (s) and to understand, as Dr. Imam ul-Haqq just expressed so nicely and I appreciate that. May Allah bless you to give us more. I will add one thing about Sayyidina Musa (a): Allah sent him to Sayyidina Khidr (s) to understand the Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), as He mentioned in Holy Qur’an:

فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَا آتَيْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَاهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًا

So they found one of Our Servants on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our Own Presence. (Surat al-Kahf, 18:65)

Where Allah says in Holy Qur’an that Sayyidina Musa (a) and his helper Sayyidina Yoosha (a) found one of Allah’s Servants, “one of many servants,” which means there are many like Sayyidina Khidr (a) in their level of knowledge, and they are Awliyaullah. So when Sayyidina Musa (a) found that one, what did Allah (swt) describe? Fawajada `abdan min `ibaadina aataynaahu rahmatan min `indina wa `allamnaahu min ladunna `ilma, “A servant of Ours whose belief We established and strengthened in Rahmatan lil-`Alameen. By this way, We opened for him Our knowledge.”

As Prophet (s) is Rahmatan li ’l-`Alameen and particularly in this verse, “Before He taught him from Heavenly Knowledge, He dressed him from Rahmatan li ’l-`Alameen” it means from Rahmat an-Nabi (s), so it means Sayyidina Khidr’s knowledge is coming from the Fountain of Prophet (s).

Muhiyideen Ibn `Arabi (q) said, “My hand saved the boat of Nuh (a); had my hand not been under Nuh’s boat it would have sunk.” They asked, “How?” He said, “I am part of Prophet (s), I am from naslihi ash-shareef, his Inheritors. I am from him, my blood is coming from him, so my hand was with the Hand of Prophet (s) and the boat was saved.” So anything that is done to bring the name of Prophet (s) high, you will be rewarded for it. What kind of reward is in this evening? This majlis tonight is a Garden of Heaven. There are so many Riyaad, Gardens of Heavens, as Prophet (s) said to the Sahaabah (r), “Do you like to be in Gardens of Heavens?” Of course, everyone wants to be in Gardens of Heaven and Prophet (s) described it:

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا مررتم برياض الجنة فارتعوا. قالو وما رياض الجنة؟ قال "حلق الذكر"

Ibn `Umar reported that the Prophet (s) said, "When you pass by the Gardens of Paradise, avail yourselves of them." The Companions asked, "What are the Gardens of Paradise, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "The circles of dhikr.” (Tirmidhi)

“When you pass by the Gardens of Heaven, sit there.” In this moment, this place is turned into a Garden of Heaven, as mentioned by Prophet (s). We know one Garden of Heaven is the Rawdah Shareefah, the Garden of Jannah, that area blessed by Heavens in Madinah, where all Muslims want to pray, and when Sahaabah (r) asked, “What are the Gardens of Heaven?” Prophet (s) said, “The circles of dhikr,” and this is a circle of dhikrullah, remembrance of Allah (swt), Prophet (s) and Islam: a Garden of Heaven. So the Manifestation of the beauty of the Garden of Heavens is being dressed tonight on everyone here. This is not my promise, this is what Prophet (s) said in that Hadith. So you are going to be happy in dunya and Akhirah!

All of us want to save ourselves from Shaytan and anything bad, and Prophet (s) said:

كلمتان خفيفتان على اللسان ثقيلتان فى الميزان حبيبتان إلى الرحمن سبحان الله و بحمده سبحان الله العظيم

There are two words that are very easy to say, yet very heavy on the Scale, most beloved to The Merciful, “SubhaanAllah wa bihamdihi subhaanAllahi ’l-`Azheem.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

“I am giving you something very easy for ladies and men to do for Allah to forgive you; they are very light on the tongue (easy to say) and very heavy on the Scale of Judgement.” It means if you recite them every day even once, they are going to make your Scale on the Day of Judgement heavy with hasanaat, rewards and make your sayyi’aat, sins very light.

Prophet (s) also showed us his rahmah when he said:

انما بعثت لاتمم مكارم الاخلاق

I have been sent to perfect the best of conduct (your behavior and character). (Bazzaar)

The whole of Islam [everything we need to know and practice is summarized in this Hadith], “I have been sent to perfect your manners, characters and behavior.” From this we know that Prophet (s) has taken it as his responsibility to correct our characters and behavior because he said, Innamaa bu`ithtu, “For sure I am going to complete and perfect you manners and your behavior.” So we are resting our back on this promise, that Prophet (s) will save us on the Day of Judgement from everything bad we have done, because Allah will give shafa`ah, the power of Intercession, to Sayyidina Muhammad, `alayhi afdal as-salaatu wa-s-salaam.

There are many things we can mention, but I will like discuss one small issue that is huge in terms of Allah’s rewards, mentioned in the beginning of Surat al-Baqarah, “Alif. Laam. Meem.” Alif is one letter, Laam is one letter, and Meem is one letter. Alif indicates the first letter of “Allah” and always Alif is standing. Laam, as scholars and Awliyaullah say, represents Jibreel (a); from Allah to Jibreel (a) to the Meem, which represents Sayyidna Muhammad (s). It consists of two Meems: maa, yaa and maa, and between them is an ocean. The first Meem is the Heavenly Reality of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) that Allah created, and the second Meem is the Reality of Muhammad that is receiving Wahiyy from Sayyidina Jibreel (a) on Earth. So Prophet (s) has two realities--one with Allah and one with the Creation--and by Allah’s order he is encompassing everything through that.

So what Allah gave our Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad, `alayhi afdal as-salaatu wa ’s-salaam, He did not give to anyone else! May Allah continue to give him and may he (s) continue giving to his Ummah, because when he was born he wasked, “Ummatee, ummatee,” and when he was sick in bed he asked, “Ummatee, ummatee,” and on the Day of Judgement he will ask, “Ummatee, ummatee.” May Allah keep us under his (s) feet with his blessings, to be good people and peaceful people!

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq. Wa `alaykum salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.
